He was a Magister, and now he isn't. I say he got kicked out for not following Tevinter ways = wussy.

I'm sorry buy how does not being a Magister make him a wuss? What if he saw fit to be a better man, left of his own accord? Openly defying the other Tevinter Magisters?  From what I gathered I thought Tevinter Magisters where corrupt, power hungry self centred, cruel slave owners who only care about their own ass while kicking everyone elses.

It's not, it's just further along than the concepts were. That's how we roll. ;)

I was actually hoping that was close to the final look, at least for the basic "concept" of an older looking, somewhat wheathered guy. I thought he looked interesting. Not only does that look appeal to me, but characters that have lived longer tend to have interesting backgrounds.

Also, what the hell is wrong with bald? Mark Strong (below) looks like a badass, and I must say, he's got a great voice for games! ;)

Only if I can join in with pictures of Jason Statham, Kelly Slater, Vin Desil and Sean Connery to name but a few on my sexy baldies list.

I like the way you think.

I am pretty sure elves cannot be Magisters.  They're used as slaves.

Fenris' sister was promised the opportunity to become a Magister by Danarius, which is why she sells out her brother in the first place. I imagine it's rare, but apparently it happens. (I realise Danarius probably isn't the most honest person in the world, but she must believe it's possible for her to become one.)

I don't think so myself. I feel like dragon age through the companions had very outspoken and extreme opinions. You have fenris that does not show any compromise in the mage situation and just lets his emotions guide him. On the other hand you have anders that is against anything templar. I would like an analytical companion that would tell "I hate X because of Y." In which Y is a valid non emotional guided response.

I do understand that characters with extreme opinions are going to be there, it is just that it would be nice to have an analytical companion by the inquisitor's side.

And I would like a player character that can actually express an opinion. Why was I forced to complete ANY quests for Meredith? I wouldn't..

Why was I forced to kill Tarohne? Helping her would grant a noble status in Kirkwall and money faster than anything else.

Exactly, caring about others makes you weak.

I mean, what could be a reason for someone to be demoted from magister and cast out?

Openly opposing Tevinters magocracy is a likely reason.

It might be possible then, yeah.  I imagine it'd be very difficult.  Didn't turn out so well for her, sadly.

LOL but this getting kicked out of Tevinter because you're a wuss still doesn't make much sense.

Openly opposing your own power and status, so genius, so brave.

No, I'm solely into lesbian romance.

So you're saying you want a good looking, not bald, powerful Elven Tevinter Magister that's a self centred, slave owning ******* who has no real reason to even be joining our Inquisitor, while most likely killing us with blood magic because 'caring about others is weak', as a LI?

It would be cool if the "bald elf guy" was buffed out like Vin Diesel and enjoyed fist fighting as much as magic. Like he breaks all the rules of what a typical mage acts like. And he carried a sword and a staff. And if your character disagreed with him on a topic he walks over and head butts you just for fun. Then he buys you a drink as you attempt to recover from your headache.

But seriously, I am looking for good writing and great characters. Bald, not bald, mohawk, dreads, two heads, whatever. Just give me great story with engaging characters and I'll be happy.

Well there should always be reasons for everything, not wanting to die to a demon invasion, and not being able to fight it on your own for example is one.

LI though... If I would have a romance the way I want it, my PC and LI would become a part of each others inner world, and as such would care about themselves as a whole, if you get what I am talking about? Such connections leave no room for ill thoughts and actions towards each other.

We had this discussion over in the other thread discussing this bald elf mage.

Magisters in Tevinter are appointed by mages in their Circles, or by the Archon, or by inheriting another Magister's seat, or by being part of the Imperial Chantry (which also requires you to be a mage, obviously).

Fenris' sister Varania was an elf mage apprenticed to a Tevinter magister, and she was pretty openly accepted by other Tevinter mages - I don't see any reason why a sufficiently powerful elf couldn't rise to a high rank in an Imperial Circle then be appointed a Magister that way.

Clearly not every elf in Tevinter is a slave, and if they show enough magical power I don't think their race would be an impediment to gaining a high position.

I was hoping that wasn't his final design. Oh, well.

I for one am really excited about this character. From the concept art and in-game footage and especially this model just screams "I got depth and will be super interesting" to me. Plus, if he is written by David Gaider that's just a given Ill enjoy this character.
Personally, Im totally diggin the baldness. If he's half as awesome as I think he will be and a LI. Sign me up! Rawr ;)

I get the feeling this thread will be hilarious in about 9 months or so, if it isn't already.

I'm not a fan of the baldness "for him" (I think he'd look better with either a shaved head and maybe some designs etched into it or a mohawk ponytail), but everything else about him I like. I've been curious about meeting him for a long time, and always thought he'd be the mage my Dalish inquisitor liked the most. (While I really like Vivienne, I don't think my inquisitor will.)

His chin gets me hopeful for Bruce Campbell to lend his voice to him.

I think the in character model we've seen thus far is cute, I never saw that before.

I know I said he looked ugly but I know I never thought or gave off the impression that he was "boring", I'd love to know his origin -- whether he's Dalish or not, or if he specs in nature damage. He seems city with his fur but.. I want to believe he's Dalish.

Come on, the guy wears boots and pants! Doesn't get any less dalish than that.

I also totally think baldness can be totally sexy. I'm just not diggin the chin in that one picture. I'm hopeful that is just a zany artist doin a little charachiture there though. And if I end up not liking the way the guy looks I guess it isn't the end of the world.

Implying that physical attraction isn't relative and based on personal preference.

KainD said he wants to have pretty people as his LIs. What's head shake worthy?

Implying someone's worth as a love interest should be based on looks alone.

I actually hope he's not a love interest, primarily because it'd mean I wouldn't be missing anything for him being male.

Not on looks alone, but without looks the other parts are irrelevant. As looks are irrelevant, if the don't like the other parts of the character.
