Come on, you know it's true, if someone is a LI, it is impossible to explore their character completely in depth without the romance.

That's a straight up lie, and it's a shame that it comes to that with Bioware's fanbase
Bald... Not bald... Don't really care. If he says the right words and pushes the right buttons I'll romance him, simple as that ![]()
I also totally think baldness can be totally sexy. I'm just not diggin the chin in that one picture. I'm hopeful that is just a zany artist doin a little charachiture there though. And if I end up not liking the way the guy looks I guess it isn't the end of the world.

It's true, and I wouldn't even have it any other way. It's only natural that some of the things be shared only with the closest people. But for someone like Xil, that will never go through with the romance option, it is better for the character to not be a romance option, since then the full allowed depth is not reliant on the romance.

You're absolutely right, it's like this in reality as well.

Or Xil could just miss out on content, which is what happens in RPGs
And you can be close to someone without being romantically involved with them
And you can be close to someone without being romantically involved with them
You can, I can't. Well, just not as close.
I don't really care if he's super pretty or not, I just think he reminds me too much of Zathrian - which while I could understand him I never really liked him. I don't want to look at a ElfMageDude and think of Zathrian, I want a design that's more different from that. That's why a liked the war room concept a little more because of the half shaved hairstyle. We haven't seen a good close up on his face though, so maybe I'm being hasty. I'll try not to judge him anymore...

Well that sounds a like personal problem
Well that sounds a like personal problem
I don't think so, it's not a problem at all.
I prefer to only allow my significant other to know about my personal issues and things like that. It doesn't make it a "personal problem", just a preference.
Just like you prefer to tell your friends your personal business.
Look, why is this even still up for debate? You don't like his look? Fine, leave him at the keep while you're off saving the world. You don't want him as a romance option? He might not be. But for the sake of those of us who do want him as an LI, stop insulting someone's personal preferences by resorting to petty insults against this character which you know nothing about. It says more about you than it does anyone else.
Either way, it doesn't matter. None of us know what the deal with him is. If he's an LI, cool. If he's not, even cooler. I'm just looking forward to getting to know this character. I've already given my opinion on the matter, and the rest of you have made yours very clear as well, so let's all leave it at that, shall we?

I wasn't referring to that part, I was referring to that it is possible to be close to someone without being romantically involved
Whether that includes talking about personal issues is a whole other thing

I think this is probably the main problem with the baldness for this particular character. However, once we meet him, talk to him and so forth, even if our initial impression is that of Zathrian, it will probably fade as we play the game. I think that the choice of voice will make a big difference as well.
Oh noes, people have an opinion! They have an opinion. The horror. *shudders*
I, personally, never said he was boring because of the lack of hair. Or I don't remember saying so.
Whatever. I'd probably be perfectly fine with this dude's lack of hair if he has a nice face, or like, amazingsauce personality. Not sure what his face looks like though, because concept art and a smallish pic of a maybe-finished look isn't concrete enough. And if he is an LI, isn't the most attractive thing ever, but is an uber-interesting character, I'd still romance the dude. (unless Cass or Viv are romanceable
) Looks are a big part of a romance, for me at least, but they aren't everything. Never found Isabela attractive, but I loved her romance arc.
The beginning didn't sound overly hostile, did it? I shouldn't be posting while hungry, grarrgh
why do I care this is the internet ughhh #toosoft

That was the point though, I thought? You only learn about more in-depth things from romantic interests in DA? To me, that usually relies on personal traumas/issues that the person has overcome.
If it wasn't, I apologize.

but back on topic, I wonder if this guy has been part of a Circle, and if so, which one? I imagine him as either Ferelden or from the Free Marches.

Looks are usually a big part of romance, and anyone that says they're not is lying. I don't approach a guy because his personality looks nice, no, I approach him because he's fine as hell.
His face looks kinda different in that character picture, for the better. I think he has a lot of potential as a character.

I'm thinking Free Marches, myself (if that's the case). I'm not really getting a Ferelden "vibe" from him. I kind of like that backstory for the Dorian character (from the survey). But I definitely think he was from a Circle, or spent a lot of time in mage society.

I didn't find Ashley that attractive in Mass Effect and enjoyed the romance. Same with Isabela in DA2

If you are talking about a social outing where you are attracted to a stranger I can see your point. But you can also grow to really like and even have a romantic interest in someone over time as you get to know them. There are numerous characters that I don't really find very attractive, but getting to know them over many readings/watchings I've developed some major fan crushes over the years.

But the problem with discussions like this is that not everyone has the same idea of what is attractive. That's why these topics are so sensitive and can escalate so quickly. It's why people should just leave their opinions, and not try to make anyone else's seem invalid, as many are fond of doing. These discussions are rarely civil.

I won't even lie, the only reason I thought Ferelden was because I know it's cold and I saw the furs lol.

Video games are not reality and even so, I find that hard to believe. Attraction is a huge part of romance, you're not going to change my mind one iota so let's agree to disagree and stay on topic.

Absolutely, I agree with you, and I'm not at all saying that. I was simply responding to Rainbow Kitty because she said they were a big part for her. I wasn't referring to this guy ![]()
