The ears are pointy-ish, and he's certainly bald. If the concept artist is drawing important scenes I don't think it'd just be using random characters.
Also, that staff is quite distinctive - it looks similar to the one he uses in the cave concept art.
I guess this makes it more likely that he's an apostate, and rather less likely that he's some kind of ancient elf we woke up
on Eden Primein a forest somewhere.

Apostate seems to mesh the best out of all the current theories. I can just imagine how he might get along with Vivienne, pff. I wonder if I could get away with running around with a team that mage heavy.
I wonder if he's from a circle that was overthrown- I would love to get his past story on how that went down. Also hope he's witty/sarcastic, I love those characters and I can see him being buddies with Varric. Also anti-circle so him and Vivianne can argue about pros and cons of the circles.

I rarely make these sorts of comments because no matter how I slice it they're prone to come across as some bizarre internettish brand of sucking up, but David is spot on with his rebuttals. The community's frequent semi-consensus to not speculate but utterly judge, swiftly and without content, and on merits of a single gameplay mechanic overriding any other potential worths, has always felt... weird to me.
I'm on my first DA2 file right now, and I'm not romancing anyone. Hawke flings around with Isabela here and there but I'm technically missing content some fans consider the bread and butter of the BioWare bakery. And that's totally fine, duh, but I sometimes wonder if certain individuals truly see no value in a character they can't pursue in one specific fashion. Is there no beauty in "ugly" people with fascinating stories and compelling platonic potentialities?
I concur. Most of the characters from DA2 however, I didn't really like all that much though. Not because of how they looked, but just based on how much more I enjoyed the dynamic that was the characters of DAO. And with DA2, I don't think I really romanced anyone outside of Merril (first playthrough) and Fenris. I tried Sebastian, but he just disappointed me with his lack of romantic content. But outside of that content, I loved his character and if that's all it had been, I would have been okay with that.

Because some people find baldness attractive more attractive than hair. I don't personally, but a character shouldn't be designed aid my personal preference.
Wait. I take that back. Dear Bioware, please design every character around my personal preference.
Many people didn't like Jack's initial look, but they added a bit of hair in ME3, and that made her one of the hottest characters in the series. But hey, that's just my personal preference.

Doubtful... has anyone come across like that? I've only been following this thread off and on. I'll be disappointed if he retains his current look and is made one of two male LIs. I will not hate him and refuse to have him in party, geez. But it's okay to not like a character's look and feel afraid he might thus restrict your LIs to one instead of two. And it's okay to really, really love BW romances.
And that's fair too. But people should realize that our personal preferences shouldn't decide the direction of character design. We can share our opinions, but we shouldn't pout if they dunt take our every direction. Similarly, it's fine to share opinions like "I'd like him better with hair" and people shouldn't be harassed for saying stuff like that.

It's not the place to insult the writers or artists or anything, ugh, of course not. But there's nothing wrong with saying, "I'm concerned; I don't really like this guy's look; I hope he gets his hair back."

Truthfully, I think it's just the resemblance of Zathrian.
I was looking at the picture of him from the blog post on my 360 and really REALLY zoomed it in and from what I can see he looks very slightly kinda like Varric, if he was an elf.. minus hair.
If they had long hair sorta like Zev's but brown, I would definately the romance the crap outta them.
I hope their face stays like it is in that picture and I hope we get their character kit soon!
...Aaaand it WOULD be nice to know the name of my Femquisitor's paramore.
