I suspect an apostate or a Tevinter Magister. We probably won't have two Circle Mages.
People were talking about whether or not he's an LI... he could be the hottest LI in the game, and I think I'd avoid him, because he'd remind me of someone I know who has a shaved head... and that would just be kind of creepy.
He looks interesting, though. Wonder what kind of personality he has, with the Jay Leno chin going on?

I totally know what you mean. I know a few folks with hair and so I can't boink anyone with hair in games.
The guy looks fine, but his chin could probably spear someone if he's not careful.

Well, technically we will have zero Circle Mages because the Circles don't exist anymore, thus making all mages apostates.
I really don't think that meme is applicable here, sweetie.

I can understand people having issues with the redesign of returning characters, but objecting to the look of new ones? In any case, I think he looks fine and look forward to getting to know him.
Personally have no problems with the bald men. The only negative association I have here is "skeenheads" but it takes more then shaved skull to be one.
More curious if the art really indicate his personality - that witty\sarcastic look of his is quite interesting.
Dude. Who cares if he is bald. Garrus is an alien creature and I still think he is hot as all hell. It is the personality that does it. You don't have to have every character be sexually appealing either. The game is not about how you can sex up the most. So what if he is a love interest, he is probably an awesome character. We don't know so to judge him based off his hairstyle is just absurd. My god.
Also Varric is a dwarf and I am sure most of would romance him if we could so how is a bald guy any "worse" then a very short guy? Ridiculous.

To paraphrase an old quote, you can take the Mage out of the Circle, but you can't take the Circle out of the Mage. The Circles still influence its former members. Check, Vivienne is even Pro-Circle.
Occasionally, ancient Tevinter magisters had physical defects because of lyrium consumption, sometimes to the point where they hardly seem human. Maybe losing hair was the first effect ![]()
Nonetheless, I'm really excited for this guy. I probably like his design more than Varric or Cassandra. There are a lot of small details that are really appealing and I never thought he was boring or ugly. I'm really excited about him!
Who is that Mystery Ninja?

Not exactly, we could get a Tevinter Circle Mage, since their Circle is still standing.

I think the issue might be more so about it being kinda boring. Perhaps if he had some kind of tattoo or face paint, it might add to his features. Other than that, I'm sure his personality will more than make up for it.
Some people still hurting from straight female Shepards ME3 romance options. This would be cruel lol.
Anyways, he is probably aesthetically unappealing because he seems old... He seems to be in his 40s or 50s even...hence the sickly skin.
I love his snicker in that one concept art...he seems to be the mischievous characters. We've only had one senior companion, Wynne, and she was the typical wise woman. This would be a nice change of pace.
Not everyone is going to be an LI guys >.>
I don't think age is the problem. The Grey Warden concept art looks like a mother clucking dream boat and he clearly has quite a few decades under his belt. Yet I would throw the Inquisitor at him so fast and hard their heads would pop off.
The mage elf on the other hand, just looks terribly unappealing and that's saying something when I thought Garrus was bloody awesome and Tali a complete sweetheart (racist little git, but a sweetheart nonetheless) I think his appeal would have to be personality based, because I don't see him pulling in the fans if he turns out to be a complete bumwipe using his striking 'good' looks. I'm already set to ditch him because he makes me think of the bald elves in DA2.
It just occurred to me; what if his sickly appearance has something to do with the heavy use of blood magic?
I bet people are still shocked about -
Jack is the sole reason I took an interest in the Mass Effect series, so her being bald never put me off in the slightest. It was her personality that grabbed me by my nonexistent testes and shook vigorously. She in turn became one of my favorite character's.
But the bald mage elf? Nope. Makes me think of the bald elves in DA2 and that is not a good idea to be reminding me of a game I took a serious disliking to. No-one else seems to share this connection, but that is what I attribute my negative reaction to be about.
I can only hope that his personality more than makes up for that unpleasant comparison. Otherwise he won't be getting much action in my playthrough's.
Maybe that's not Dorian or Ser Smuggins. Maybe Fenris shaved his head, then found himself trapped in the Fade, and the only way he would be let free is if he agreed to renounce his hatred of mages and imbue himself with magical powers! What, it could happen...
On a more serious note, what do you think Varric's nickname is for the fellow? Baldy McSmuggins? Ser Smugs-a-lot? Elf McMuffin? Your Baldness?
Ah, that reminds me. I might just have to do an Inquisition run with Cullen, Smuggins, Vivienne and my Dalish mage Inquisitor. Poor Cullen. I can already see his eyes twitching, soon followed by screams, strange mumbling sounds, and a leap off the top of a mountain. Oh, didn't you know? You can climb to the top of any mountain!
Do we manually jump or is it a Simon Says' QTE? Also, link to the source?

That is not entirely accurate as the Circle in Tevinter would still be fully functioning.
Does anyone else notice he's the only one smiling in this?

That's one of the reasons I like this concept art. Everyone else is enraged or worried and he's standing in the back being all smug.

Might be interesting if he's anything like Edwin, from Baldur's Gate.

True. Alright, every mage not in Tevinter is an apostate now.
