Does anyone else notice he's the only one smiling in this?
He's not smiling or smug. Look at his eyebrows. He's contemplating; probably is going to be one of the more cerebral, introspective characters.

I love him in the War Room concept art. That's what I was hoping they were going for with his look.
I read his expression as kind of smug, but mostly assessing the situation. There's definitely a degree of "ahh, look at all the silly people and their silly reactions" going on there though.

Compared to Dramatic Hands Moustache Guy and the Inquisitor (who just ruined a perfectly good table) he seems positively chilled. ![]()
Ditto for this one, I love Cassandra's face (and uh, Sera is worldly) - though I think the bald-ish man at the front is an Inquisitor, and not Bald Elf Mage:

I love the war room concept art as well. His expression and body language alone is so in contrast from Cass, Inquisitor and DHMG. I also find Scribe Girls reaction, to said scene, incongruous with most of the other reactions. This is a positive for me. Nice seeing different responses to stimuli, from multiple characters.
Yeah, I like that one too, really gives off this air of smugness, regardless of what people think. Also pretty sure Leilani is in there too. However, my favourite has to be more so the bar scene with the blonde elf. xD
EDIT: HA! Go figure as I'm typing this, someone posted it.
Might be interesting if he's anything like Edwin, from Baldur's Gate.
I think he's going to be ________, because I know next to nothing about him at the moment.

Its not the bald elf? Looks like him.
But the clothes looks like Inquisitor´s. However, the smirkness is kinda how I imagined Mr. Baldy would be. You sure its not Baldy?
That should be a male Inquisitor, the clothes are more in "Inquisitor" style than "Elf mage guy" style. ![]()

Yeah, that red sash is generally an iconic clothing item on many Inquisitors that we've seen. In some other concept art where the Inquisitor has been a dwarf or qunari, the way to tell that they *are* the Inquisitor is by that red sash.
I could be wrong though, it just seems to me that the point of that scene is to show the Inquisitor relaxing with three companions.
I notice that "Sera" appears to have an arm guard on the inside of her forearm. Archer?
Yes. She's an archer. In one of the videos we got a small glimpse of the white haired elf with a bow in hand. I'll see if I can dig it out.
Edit: Found it!
The top left one:

Oh I hope not. I really liked Bioware's turn from evil companions. I could deal with Morrigan's unconventional morality, but much more than that I'd prefer not. I don't need or want all my companions to be goody goodies, but power hungry evil jerk dont make fun companions.
Of course, but what's one evil aligned character out of what? 8 others? And that's assuming we won't get a tenth as day 1 DLC. If that's the case, I don't mind at all.

Eh, I think all characters are interesting, and if we're taking the BGII definition of evil: I didn't find any of those characters that I really cared for. Saervok was interesting because he could change, as could Viconia to a degree, but their transition towards good (or less evil, whatever) was more appealing than their evilness.
I liked Morrigan though; she was definitely immoral in many ways, but she wasn't evil. She was never rarely spiteful for the sake of spike (except to Alistair) and though she looked down on common people it was easy to see why.
That being said, I'd never want a, say, Danarius or a Caladrius, or an Alrik or a Karras, in my party. If evil exists in the DA world, then it's people like them. They make uninteresting companions. I have a hard time expressing why, but I just don't see the point. If the writers write 9 companions I expect 9 interesting ones. This is just me though. I don't like evil, which is part of why I like DA so much. There are very few truly evil people in Thedas, and even the evil people are believable (because I've heard about worse people in real life!)

I can understand that. I've always seen DA or ME as a hero campaign, regardless of how dickish you want your PC to be. But that said, should they evolve as characters like Viconia or even Morrigan, I could totally deal with that too. Maybe you won't play that evil type all the time, but when you do pick immoral choices, it's always nice to have a party member who actually agrees with you.

Yeah, the difference is that we can evolve them. Like, I wouldn't mind a young magister who grew up with slavery and who doesn't see the moral problem with it. This character could change and evolve...or not depending on the character's decisions. It's different than a power-hungry old man who's set in his ways (like I felt Edwin was...I never really gave him much of a chance though...).
Further, as these games are sorta hero-campaigns, the companion does actually have to care about the world. Morrigan may not have given a damn about peasants, but she wanted the blight defeated as much as anyone.

I liked Morrigan, a lot. Especially because in spite of following you, she still had her own motivations for doing so. I tend to play the good guy too though, but once in awhile I try for a change of pace, and if that's going to mean every single one of my followers hates me, it might have me reconsider being the bad guy, even once.
I am intrigued by Mr. Bald Elf. His design/my guesses about what an elf mage's world views would be makes me think he'll be a more serious character with more neutral world views (like Zevran or Fenris as opposed to Alistair or Aveline). But I could be completely wrong.
He could be a love interest, or not. But with the different personalities I see in y head that he could have, I could still see him as a good LI. Honestly, if he is a love interest, the only reasons I could come up with for not romancing him on my first playthrough would be 1) there's another romance that seem's more important to the plot (like Alistair/Morrigan/Anders), cos I typically like to get those on my first playthrough when I don't know what's going to happen. Or 2) If I play a mage - I like to keep my LI in my party at all times, and if I play a mage, I don't really need two mages.

Really? I like to switch it up regardless of whether I've romanced them or not. And considering there's plenty of areas to explore this time around, hopefully that will mean a lot more places to interact with all of them, individually, etc.

I get pretty set in my ways with parties. And I just want to hear all my LI's banter, it's pretty entertaining for me. But yea, I do miss out on stuff that way.

I used to, too. But then I realized they all level up beside you, when outside of your party. And that in itself made it okay, unlike all the other RPGs, where if I didn't use them, they remained horribly weak.
