Appearance is a BIG part of a character though; it says a lot about him/her, it influences how the player feels about him/her, and if s/he is a LI, well, let's be frank, appearances DO matter! Sure, you can romance characters you don't find personally attractive (I romance female characters, after all), but that doesn't mean you can't comment on the fact that a potential LI is not attractive to you

How can anyone find Garrus attractive?
He is a cool character and all, but the Turians look like armored raptors.

I think the bald elf's personality will play into his attractiveness. Garrus (and Thane) aren't necessarily super hotties. Garrus does kinda look like a raptor, Thane blinks weird and overall looks different. You can't even see Tali's face and people romance her all the time. I romanced Garrus because I liked him as an alien, not because he was a sexy dream boat.

Some people still hurting from straight female Shepards ME3 romance options. This would be cruel lol.I hope he's the only female romance just to spite you.
Anyways, he is probably aesthetically unappealing because he seems old... He seems to be in his 40s or 50s even...hence the sickly skin.
I love his snicker in that one concept art...he seems to be the mischievous characters. We've only had one senior companion, Wynne, and she was the typical wise woman. This would be a nice change of pace.
Not everyone is going to be an LI guys >.>
