Two things:
1.) I wouldn't read too much into a "like" (or two), so there's still hope for you and diminutive hirsute beau.
and
2.) Varric is sexy and it's high time that we get a masculine hairy LI! You cross your fingers for Varric and I'll cross my toes for the Grey Warden!
I second that. I like Varric and all but I'm really hoping that grey warden can be an LI though that wish has a lot to do with my love for good beards 
First time I've been actually excited to see the potential romances in a Bioware game. Hoping Sera is an option. Varric too, but like others said, probably not going to happen. Cullen is interesting as well.
Pretty much any way this goes, I don't think I'll be disappointed. I like enough characters that at least one of them will have to be an option.

I hope that that is another way of saying "surprise, Varric and the bearded Grey Warden actually are the male love interests!" 
For the guys, I would suspect Bald Elf Guy ("Baldy") as one since they always have an elf guy romance and he's being written by Gaider (right?). The other one is too hard to tell. I suspect that Varric will not be, to continue his role as the "bro" and, although I hope I'm wrong, I don't seem them including Bearded Grey Warden, since he goes against the "boy next door" type that Bioware often uses for the male LI's. He's older, bearded, and muscley. While that sounds awesome to me (and several others, based on past coments), I think he's out. That means that it would be one of the remaining unconfirmed guys. Of course, my vote is Cullen, if he is in since he fits the stereotype much more closely, but that's to be seen, I guess.
Well I hope you're right.
If my only choices for male LI were some bald guy and some old guy... I'd be horribly disappointed.
