That was a wedding to remember,
Such a dramatic affair and very Orleasian, if you ask me.
Oh definitely, this is how I expect Orlesian parties to be like,an arrowing experience for all.
I love this. The devs are a little saucy in the romance thread, with spring literally a week away. Ah, you have to love the newness of early spring...and a sense of a few devs loving to pull our chains. I know I would if I was in their shoes. ![]()
I don't think my heart can handle this thread, I've just gotta go lay down for a minute... Or a month.

Personally, I am more like this:
Someone call me?
YOU GUYS THIS WAS MY 1,000 POST. I SPENT IT ON THE STUPID ROMANCE THREAD. Damn it.

Bearded warden dude romance over Cullen romance, Bioware DO IT
I'll take both, please and thanks ![]()
Hm. No idea if Cullen will even be in-game. Varric, as much as I liked him in DA2, wouldn't be my preference for romance. I hope there's someone I'll find compelling even if I don't find them attractive, but if not I'll probably just go without romancing anyone, or romance someone in a male playthrough.
Then again, I've been known to replay the game and replay it as different sexes just to try out the different romances and see how characters react differently when I'm a different race or gender.
I'll take both, please and thanks

YES PLEASE! I'm all for a smorgasbord of partner personalities. Maybe my first inquisitor wants well-groomed and knightly while my second is looking for a rugged and sincere partner. Or maybe she's just indecisive and tries for both.
Though I advocate for these two pretty often, I've really found every character endearing at some point regardless of their appearance. Playing the Warden/Hawke differently each time has made every single LI (and often non-LIs) an appealing and appropriate match for at least one of my characters. As long as the characters they choose to develop end up interesting and different from each other I have no complaints.
One thing I was a bit taken aback by as I played these games for the first time over the last two months was the relatively slim pickings re: romance options. It didn't bug me at all (chiefly because I was happy with my options in Origins and totally cool with just flinging about with Isabela here and there in 2, but also, it should be noted, because I just don't rank romance stuff very highly on my list of reasons I play BioWare games) but I think after seeing how many paths there were in ME2 (and to varying extents of success following them through in ME3) I had sort of assumed 2011's DA2 at least would follow suit.
In retrospect it was a silly thought, especially since DA2 has four options available to both character sexes, a noteworthy accomplishment. But it also has "just" two options of either gender like the first game.
It was also silly because there's no reason to presume the Dragon Age team is going to want to follow the Mass Effect team's focal points. Clearly they decided to fixate on a smaller offering, perhaps with the intent to flesh out those offerings or perhaps because they simply view the matter as relatively low on the totem pole, I don't know.
In any case I certainly wouldn't complain to find more options in Inquisition, even despite regarding the subject as a secondary motivation, but it David has said no further resources are going into it than before I take that to imply two each is pretty likely.
So now I wait and watch and wonder if those four total will be viewed by the majority as adequately unique and desirable. I'm reasonably confident I'll find something but I can't help feeling a bit infected by all the giddiness and guesswork and apprehension. It's a game to me, this wait.
With the note that I've never played a ME 2 Romance (Just in 1 and 3...unless you count the tiny bit in the Shadowbroker DLC with Liara): I feel like the there's significantly more depth put into the DA romances. In DA the romances effect a lot more throughout the game, through companion conversations and banter to how they react when you make certain choices. Basically that though ME might have had more romances I would be surprised if many more resources were actually put into them.
I might just be biased though, I do like Fantasy as a genre much more than SciFi so I'm going to be generally inclined to like things in DA more than I liked things in ME. So woops.
Personally I'm hoping for six companion romance options and at least two non-companion romance options- I think that's an aspect of ME3 that should be expanded and improved upon. The idea of all the romance options being companions bugs me for some reason; I think in that it simply suggests that, from an in world perspective, the protagonist is extremely limited in their options. I feel that non-companion romances, even if there's only one or two, at least presents the idea that the Inquisitor isn't limited in their options to romance to this one group of people they travel around with all the time. Might have something to do with my own preferences; I generally look for romance outside of my core group of friends and always outside of the work place, so limiting my options to a group of people that amount to a combination of those two things bugs me.
I also think there's something to be said for the story potential of a romance where the two parties aren't equal; i.e., the Inquisitor is obviously a capable combatant, but their LI isn't, or where they're both in dangerous situations but they aren't together to watch each other's backs; i.e., say Cullen is a L.I. but not a companion. There are just avenues of character conflict and development that I think can't really be explored, or at least explored as well, with characters who can hold their own & who are with you 90% of the time.

the biggest probem with ME was that you "lock in" a romance way late into the game, while in DA:O it could be very quickly.

I felt DA2 overall actually did a great job of pacing the romances before you're locked. Act 1 is pretty long, even if you know all the quests.
Please, please, please, please, pleeeeaaaase let there be a kossith LI!

There is no romance in Act 1, only some (cheesy) flirt lines that do not actually activate any of the romances yet. The only companion who might create the impression of romance from the start is Anders, who immediately starts with the I DON'T WANT TO HURT YOU drama. Other than that, the three year time skips messed up the pacing of the romances, especially for Fenris. Isabela is a bit strange as well. She strongly hints at seeking her out as "company" after you have done her recruitment quest, but somehow you only sleep with her after you have already known her for three years.
^Which is why DA2 should never have had a time-span of 10 years. There is absolutely no difference to the story or characters if you made it 3 or heck even just a year long.
I don't care how many options there are, so long as the available options are interesting, well-written, and the romance arcs aid in the character development of both the Inquisitor and whomever the romance interest is.
Having said that...based only on the small amount of information that has been released so far, Sera or Vivienne sound interesting. That is of course assuming first that they are even love interests, and secondly that they won't despise my ruthless Inquisitor. (I'm using Stannis Baratheon as a loose inspiration for him)
The fan girl in me is REALLY hoping we can romance Varric, but that scares me a little too. I don't want a romance to destory what a freak*** fantastic character he is and besides his only true love is Bianca.
I would have absolutely no problems if Bioware decides to make Cullen a companion and slapping him a the menu. Such a glorious thought.
Now I'm all verklempt. Talk amoungst ya'selves...
Does anyone think that a Qunari will be romancable? That would be freaking wild to say the least. Look out for those horns ladies! Danger zone.
If, and i say IF they go the playersexual route (i'd prefer that tbh), i'd like the romanced characters to react differently to a female and male inquisitor and not having the exact same lines and actions. Like someone else said, the partner giving a flower to femInquisitor and not to manInquisitor and etc.
I know it probably requires a lot of work, I was just throwing out an idea. It would be v nice. ![]()
