While we can't be certain yet, I wouldn't be so sure. David Gaider has reportedly written two characters for DAI, and two of the romances. One or the characters he wrote is Cassandra. Simple mathematics suggests that Cassandra is therefore one of the female romance options.

 

Yeah, this seems to make sense, provided that there are only companion romances and not NPC romances, like in ME 3.  Plus the fact that he came to Solas' defense as people were complaining about discussing his baldness makes me think that he might be Solas' writer too, which might make Solas a second LI.

Yeah, things the numbers would certainly add up differently if there are NPC romances. Which there definitely could be this game - it seems like the Inquisitor will have a lot of opportunities to interact with agents and other important characters who don't follow them around.

But in ME3, all your romances were on the Normandy, so they always were with you, Steve and Samantha weren't going into battle with you, but no romance flags were even raised during combat...here in DAI we don't have a handy gunship or some dragon with living accomodations in its womb, so I don't think is really practical to have a LI that you'll need to visit in order to complete the romance.

 

They COULD, but since the Maker David Gaider said they would not exepand the scope of the romances, making NPC romances seems quite the opposite.

You sure about that? Maybe not after every mission but probably after every MQ, you need to talk about stuff after all. And I can't imagine the other keeps (if we have other keeps) will really be fleshed out a whole lot.

I only want Varric. If I can't have Varric then that bearded grey warden will do as a sort of consolation prize. I wouldn't touch Solas if he was a romance option. I'm sure he's a great character but just no...no just no.

Vivienne appears to be completely uninterested in matters of the heart, so Cassandra and Sera will likely be LIs.

 

Of course, a secret fourth female companion (who is romanceable) might be introduced.

I'm torn on the subject of Cassandra. I'd like her to be romanceable, but if the Inquisitor doesn't pursue her, I'd like Galyan (from Dawn of the Seeker) to hook up with her instead.

I'd be happy with this! Mind you, if they declared tomorrow that all other love interests had been scrapped in favour of all Varric, all the time, I would still be pretty happy. Nothing against Solas, though.

 

If it were up to me to pick the male LIs, I'd take Varric and Iron Bull, but I'm pretty sure that will never happen. A combination of Solas and a human guy (either Cullen or someone as yet unrevealed) seems more likely to me.
