I would be happy with a female qunari LI
or a dwarf LI damnit. We only have human and elf LI sofar. Other races need love too you know :/
Hear, hear! I'd love for a female LI to be a scary qunari or a short stubby dwarf with a really friggin' awesome personality that makes her hot.

Heh, imagine Bioware doing a game without romances at all. Imagine the glorious shitstorm after release ![]()

If it was new IP that was announced from the get-go that it had no romances in it, then I think you're overestimating the amount of negative reaction. The only way that this storm would happen is if they took romance out of an existing IP without much warning. Which I don't see BioWare doing.
I can see them exploring the possibility of a new IP that is without romance content, but I just can't see them taking it out of either Dragon Age or Mass Effect.

Agreed. To many people, romance subplots have become somewhat of a staple for both these franchises.

Yeah and pffft now that they've found something that resonates with so many people, I'm sure Bioware won't let it go in a hurry.

I am not sure. Make a new IP, show off a big new fantasy world with all these cool characters before release and then... crap you'r all out of luck ![]()

If they let us know ahead of time, rather than just spring it on us, then no, we wouldn't react like you are suggesting.
I'm sure there would be some disappointment, but the fans would start judging the game on its own merits. I can see plenty of fans going "Well, that kinda sucks, but I wonder what the new game is going to be like? Are we going to get more companion interactions on a platonic level instead? Well, if I want romance in a BW game, there is always the ME and DA games to play."
As BioWare is known for its romances, it would be the first question that I think not only players would ask, but investors as well. BioWare is far too professional to just lead fans or investors on without answering that.

And regardless of fan response, the lack of romance would probably be mentioned in pretty much every story new outlets were running too.
I think it's a staple of their games and I hope they are present in the new IP. But when hearing about the new IP (which happened just moments ago in the PAX thread
) my initial enthusiasm was 'oh man, what new world/story is Bioware going to tell for us', not 'oooh new romances'. I think romances are fun and significant but they aren't THE reason I'm invested in the games Bioware makes. It might be for some though, and thats ok too.

I just want to say I totally agree about wanting female characters to have more "options", as it were. Like why the hell couldn't I kiss Bann Teagan if I wanted, or Jowan or Cullen or whoever else? Why do only male wardens get random NPC kisses?
Because Cullen ran away and Jowan had a girlfriend(
)but I agree about Bann Teagan, that man was asking for it! ![]()

Depends on how the kiss was giving/receiving. Are you talking about female PC randomly kiss male npc. Or male npc randomly kiss female PC?
because if a girl randomly kiss a guy, the dude, in most cases, will have no problems ( happy even) with it. But if a guy randomly kiss a girl, then he will most likely end up with a slap in the face, or sexual assault charge. I guess that's why male npcs were reluctant when it comes to physical contact with female player lol
Now if female PC is the one that force the kiss, that would be something interesting lol

It's about female initiative. The male Warden always had the initiative as well with female NPCs.

Now hang on just a darn tootin' minute.
If Susan Boyle went on a quest to see how many guys she could kiss, would most of them be happy about it?

I would pay good money to see that.
In seriousness, I think we need to get away from assuming all men welcome all sexual advances made toward them.

Agreed, no matter what gender is comes from. Not all men appreciate being hit on by strangers (regardless of gender) just like women get sick of it too.

I don't mind it. It depends on if I'm attracted to them myself (even if I make nothing out of it, I can at least recognize who I like). Just simply giving attention isn't good enough. I'm not that easy ![]()

I know some asexuals on the forums that wouldn't appreciate in the slightest.
However, I wasn't trying to dismiss the fact that some do enjoy it, and that's just fine by me.
I was reinforcing my belief that blanket statements can lead to misunderstandings, that's all.
Edit: I wanted to mention that this has been the most civilized thread I've ever seen on any incarnation of the BioWare forums regarding this subject behind female PC and LGTBQ romances as well as more representation for those groups as a whole. No one's trolling, everyone's discussing their beliefs in a constructive and thoughtful manner...I'm really enjoying this.

But to be fair It is more a matter of personal taste. I don't like all romances in games and I would find that to be refreshing to see a good game with none.
To each his own I guess.

he/she said "good game"
some clarification: that's quite subjective, what is a good game, i mean. i think ppl who are spending time on BW forums consider their games good.
