I'd be pretty surprised if Varric was a romance. He's an amazing character, and I'm sure any fling with him would be of epic proportions, I just can't see it. Maybe we'll all be surprised though. He also has a line about not being into humans, and while I would kinda love it if he was a Dwarfquisitor only romance...not the best use of resources.

 

That being said, I'd guess that the Romances will be one elf and one human of both genders. That means Sera and Elfmage are probably in, the humans we have to guess at.

 

Who knows though, I've been wrong before.

Well, their last game had a very detailed NPC romances in the form of Samantha Traynor and Steve Cortez, so I say more likely than people think.

Just going to throw an Idea here...Now that we have weather system and rain effects,do you think it should be exploited for heartbreaking romance scenes as well?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the LIs in DA:I will most certainly be companions, because with NPCs it wouldn't be the same and they (BioWare) wouldn't invest ressources in such a thing. If it's not actually confirmed ... I just don't seem to remember where ...

True, but I don't know, I feel like Mass Effect does things differently than Dragon Age. In lots of ways.

I wish they had that for DA2, I imagine a crack of lightning and thunder for Fenris whenever you visit him or when he's feeling especially broody.

Perhaps they meant minor NPCs. People who are pseudo-companions, for example in this case Scribe Girl, may not fall under that definition.

I hope they go this route, personally. I liked how the crew was not just there but actually was interactable to such an extent that a few could even warrant a romance subplot.

With Dorian in, he's likely out to make space for another female. I doubt we only have 3 females. 

 

By "Dorian", do you mean the bald elf?  Because, if so, he's almost certainly not Dorian.
