Does the age depend on the race? Or do they just mean you're supposed to be in the 19-35 range?

Why some folks want a romance that seems less like trying to "fix" someone. Okay, that's more of a statement but you get the point.

Oh, do I get the point.

I get the point, I frame the point, I hang the point prominently on my wall and very occasionally I light a hopeful candle under the point.

The male romances in DA2 were teeth-achingly frustrating.  I know some people have the idea that the only way you can show a character's nurturing side is to have them kissing a boo-boo, bit BW does so much better most of the time.

They said the Inquisitor is 19-35 years old.

Oh! Awesome! That really makes me curious about the possibles ages of our companions.

I can't see how that works without some age slider or something

From what I heard, it doesn't depend upon the race.  You're just supposed to be 19-35 years old.  It isn't a rumor either, but I can't find the source.

It isn't an exact age, just like the Warden PC didn't have an exact age to pick.  It's more of a reflection on how the rest of the world will treat you.

Agreed and agreed here.   :)

Meh, close enough.  I heard 19-35, but the point remains that we are going to be playing more as adults this time and will be treated as such by the rest of the world.  Rather than have a character look 50 in the mage Origin and still be called kid.

Since we're playing an older character, I really hope we get some companion reactions that aren't so...hasty.  Sometimes it felt like the guys in DA2 especially allowed their emotions to constantly overrule their judgement.  I'm hoping for a male romance where the guy does have a heart, but doesn't let his passions dictate his actions all the sodding time.

In Origins I got the impression you were supposed to be pretty young and I've seen shots of people that made their characters look like they're in their 50s+, so I think the age is probably just as far as the impression they wrote the story with. As in, people will treat you like a young/mid adult. I doubt it so much effects the limits of the creater, or at least it probably doesn't entirely confine it.

I've always got that impression too in Origins, especially the Human Noble Origins

In any case, we don't have to be treated like a kid all the time, which I welcome.

It'll be weird playing someone so much older than myself.

If the range is that big, I'd rather we get to choose. I like playing as PCs that are around my age.

I didn't think 20 was that much older than you.   ;)  It's a median age, not a set age.  It only changes how the NPCs are going to react to you.

I thought the Warden's median age was 15-30, but I could be wrong.

I think it bodes well for the romances we could receive.  Having an experienced adult to romance could add some layers to the romances that was mostly missing from DA2.

True, but that's the bare minimum.

Same here. I'd prefer to choose my age.

Totally agree with all the points about an older romance option. Carth Onasi, anyone?

Yea, I can't really see that working unless they let us choose the age

Yeah, the origins all made more sense for a younger character:

* The mage is just doing their Harrowing, as opposed to being an enchanter

* The Human Noble is clearly a young adult as they aren't even being sent to front lines

* The Dwarf Commoner is younger than Rica and she's being groomed as a new noble hunter, so she's likely not too old

* The City Elf is just getting married through an arranged marriage

* The Dalish Elf is young, but there's no indication about exactly how old they are

* The Dwarf Noble is a bit older since they are the middle child and Trian appears to be a bit older even

They didn't in Origins, so I don't know why they'd have to change it now.  As long as I'm not 50 or being called a kid, it doesn't bother me either way.

Well, age isn't the topic.  I only brought it up to compare the differences in our LIs' personalities as 30 somethings as opposed to most of the LIs we've had, who were all in their early 20s.  If the average age of the Inquisitor is ~30, as is the companions, perhaps we'll see some mature reactions to this time.

I wonder if it'll just be a slider that effects your complexion

Ding!  That's how they did it in Origins, so it could work again.  :D

I actually like romancing someone close to my own age. I'm not that into substantially older. I'm almost 21, for comparison. I like 20-25 year old LIs.

Don't worry. I'm the same D:

Fair enough, but in 15 years, you'll appreciate all of us elderly gamers who are paving the way for "older" (Am I really considering a range that starts at TWENTY to be older....?!?) characters in games.  When that happens, think back on this moment and think of us in our rockers somewhere.....!  ;)

The difference in Origins is that there's a high impression that your character is very young, in DA:I there's a massive gap in age range
