Bearded Warden is white but he's older and not blond and not conventionally pretty boy hot.

 

Vivienne is dark and beautiful and a force of nature.

 

All Qunari at this point seem to be white(?) so the Iron Bull is white too, but much more burly and certainly not conventionally attractive.

 

I'm taking what I can get at this point that isn't the norm, even if it only hits 2 points out of 3! 

 

According to many, Solas isn't exactly conventionally pretty boy hot either! I'd say bearded warden is pretty conventionally handsome, though he's certainly different from other LIs we've had so far.

 

As for Vivienne, she would be an awesome LI but I'm thinking Sera might be the second! Unless there are 3 male and 3 female LIs.

Qunari were bronze in DAO and greyish in DA2, that's not the same as white.

I don't think Solas is conventionally hot, but he fits the bill of white, skinny elf that we saw in DA2. Not that it's a bad thing, I just want them to mix it up each game but them seem to be sticking with what works for them.

 

Honestly I actually want Solas to be a romance, along with the hunky Warden and the spitfire that is Vivienne. Iron Bull and Varric would be interesting too but no chance we'll get all of those and Warden and Viv are at the top of my list!

 

@Ilandwynwyn: Kay! Sorry! I take that back then. Iron Bull is basically getting as far away from the norm as possible, thus making him awesome!

Did you guys notice the LadyInsanity source people are linking around quotes an even class distribution? Do you think that's right? If so, what do you think it means for our overload of warrior characters? I sort of wonder if Cullen is an NPC romance, since they're tip-toeing around his companion status still. If he is, I wonder if we'll get a female NPC romance, like Scribe Girl.

Less than excited about Cullen romance. So tired of white, blonde, pretty boys. I'm still hoping (though I guess I'm setting myself up for disappointment oops) for 6 LIs or possibly him and scribe girl as an NPC romance if we only have 4 aha Iron Bull and Warden just look so much more interesting is the main thing.

But ah well. I suppose I'll just learn to accept it if he is and figure out just what character should romance him, aha. Even if I'm not looking forward to him, I'll probs still romance him. (can't see why I won't unless it turns out rly problematic somehow.)

BW is still conventionally handsome, but it's better because he's so different from the ones we have had so far. It's not really bad that the past LIs were conventionally attractive, it's just that they all fit the pretty boy stereotype of young guys that weren't too beefy with blonde hair and stubble. And, with Cullen, it just makes three in a row and that's tiring is all. For people who do find that incredibly attractive, it probably doesn't stand out quite so much or seem like an annoyance. But for those who like bigger, older hunks and might be denied those for the same of what we've already gotten, it seems like more of an issue.

 

I agree for Sera, but Vivienne has become so popular and is so interesting as well. I can't really see them denying either as an LI, unless Sera is a lot younger than we all think.

I'm hoping for Sera as a romance option but the comment from one of the bloggers about 'hate filled forbidden romance' made me fear it might be referring to Vivienne who i'm not overly fond of from description.

Yeah that stuck with me as well. In my mind, we have 3 warriors already: Cassandra, Iron Bull, and the Grey Warden (Don't you dare take that awesome beard away from me BioWare, DON"T YOU DARE!!!). So if classes are indeed distributed evenly, big chance Cullen's gonna end up being npc romance. Also I found it kinda weird that he is confirmed a romance option BEFORE even confirmed as companion. Something really fishy is going on lol

I really don't like the idea of NPC romances either. I thought it wasn't really well done in ME3 and I'd definitely prefer companion romances only.

Not a fan of NPC romances and certainly wouldn't want to sacrifice previous levels of companion choice for it.

I would also prefer solely companion romances honestly, which is why I am getting more and more discouraged over hunky Bearded Warden and Vivienne. It's looking more an more likely that it ain't happening if Cullen is a companion and the classes are evenly distributed

I don't really like NPC romances. I would rather they just made more NPC romances if they want more than 4. I really, really, really DO NOT WANT less than 4 companion romances with gaps filled with NPC romances. I was very disappointed with Cortez in ME3 and I'm not willing to trust that format to fill the base 4 slots.

 

I don't really care if they throw in 1+ extra NPC romances, though. I'm not really for it, but I'm not strongly against it, either. I feel pretty "meh" about it.

 

There might not be a female NPC romance to balance things out, though. We can't really be sure. Sebastian was an "extra" romance that threw off the gender/sexuality balance in DA2. There's precedent for it being unbalanced.

We don't know for sure, but he wears really heavy armor and I think he fought with sword and shield in DA2.

I, er, adored Steve and Sam actually. I think NPCs romances alongside follower romances broaden the field a bit. :et us get to know and love people with a wider range of skills and backgrounds since they don't have to be combat proficient (though Cullen is).

They could just be having rivalry romances in general as well, though I'm hoping not. Wasn't exactly a fan of some of the rivalry implications (ie a romance based on 'hate').

 

I, for one, love Vivienne. I don't think I love the idea of 'hate sex' with her however, going back to the romance based on hate.

You mean 4 companion LIs and 2 npc LIs? I think I'd be fine with that as long as the NPC romances were still done well. If we have the main keep to go back to and that's where the NPCs are stationed, much like the Normandy, it could work.

I believe it's because he's a Templar, which is a warrior specialization. Could have changed though, but I doubt it.

I liked them as characters but their romances felt half-done. Actually, all of the romances in ME3 felt that way to me, I wasn't too impressed.

That could easily be changed though, and just because he wears heavy armor doesn't always mean he's a warrior...maybe he's a tanky rogue?

I really doubt they're going to change Cullen to a rogue. All of his characterization points towards warrior.
