That would be a funny plot twist in DAI: The Inquisitor runs away with his love. The End... Not sure how they could make another sequel to this though. ![]()

Being a more open world, the following title, if any, could be about pretty much anything. It would have a new protagonist anyway.

I wonder if there might, just might, be more than two romance options per gender? Mainly because it's been stated that they'll be nine companions, which is more than a DA base game (not including dlc's) have had before... It could be possible? I suppose I'm still holding out hope for a Varric romance! lol
I'm trying not to speculate over such things, not to get my hopes up ... but I have to admit, I've been wondering about that, too.
Although I'm pretty sure it will not happen. There will be two LIs per gender, like we had before. *trying really hard to stay realistic*
I'm thinking along these lines too. Cassandra is almost definitely a LI given David Gaider's confirmation he is writing two LIs, and Cassandra being one of his companions. Sera fills the randy rogue and non-human slots, so I think she's pretty likely too. But Vivienne's character kit showing just how bloody attractive she is makes me think she may well be a LI. Which means there's three female LIs, if my thinking's correct. So fingers crossed guys because all these LIs seem like a hoot!

This can be done but it needs to be someone who is always close to the inquisitor. It worked in ME3 with Steve and Traynor because they were your flight guy and computer whiz respectively, and they were always on board the ship. So the only way it can work with your mobile inquisitor is for them to be your inventory manager or personal blacksmith and such. It would be an interesting change of pace in the DA universe, but I doubt it would happen.
We will have a stroghold as the base of the Inquisition so the NPC could just be stationed there. I'm guessing the game will require you to periodically return to the stronghold.

What I feel about romances in games is that they should feel somewhat natural. I believe Bioware already stated their relationship system underwent a huge update and I'm really pleased to hear that. Now I feel that your companions are much more likely to judge you for the decisions to make and to what extent you really let your actions back up your words and vice versa, rather than just doing some random quests or bringing them some random gifts to make them all go crazy about you.
So I really hope I get the feeling that an NPC wants to be my romance because she (I always play as a male character) likes me for who I am and how I portray myself to the rest of the world through means of both words and actions, rather than I just happened to give her the right gift or because I did a quest for her.
Also, I really hope Edward and Bella stay as far away from this franchise as possible.

Viviene - to romance her you must like her headdress
I guess she'll be giving me the cold shoulder, then.
Not a fan of silly hats, sorry.

I know right? If there are only 2 per gender, they must have had such a hard time to decide ... ![]()

I would loooooove to see Bioware do a Bishop like LI.
Zevran was an assassin but was really good natured and playful, Fenris had a hatred for Danarius but they never had a truly evil male LI in DA.

I like how both of your avatars fit to the posts - and are from the same manga, too. ![]()
Pain/Nagato and Itachi for male LIs!
(Now I really start to believe it's all about them eyes ... Add striking eyes and some charisma and I will like them, doesn't matter which alignment they have. xD)

There will be romances but only between NPCs and your followers. You can't romance anyone but you can watch. You can try to romance anyone but you'd end up friendzoned.
I just wish this to be true, just so to see this forum implode / go supernova.

Which part of the romance we would be able to watch exactly?

Perhaps the Inquisitor, being close to nobility, can exert droit du seigneur. (jus primae noctis)

Now how hot would kissing in the rain be in game
Imagine your Inquisitor and his/her LI`s first kiss in the rain .
LI: Maker damn it, it is f*ckin' cold out here!
Inquisitor: And wet. Very very wet and cold.
LI: What made you think this would be romantic? I'm freezing my @ss off here!
Inquisitor: Clearly, I didn't think this through. Next time, we do this indoors or during more favorable weather conditions.
Because nothing say's love quite like freezing one's nether regions right the frick off. I mean, just imagine how horny you would feel standing in the ice cold piddling rain while mackin' on yo flavor of the week.

People take cold showers for a reason...
But, to be fair, it could be a summer rain. Those can be quite pleasant.

Should people wearing lots of steel be kissing in the open during a summer storm?
I'm picturing a lightning stike cutting that romance short.
Varric: I will edit that out of my story.

That still doesn't say he's romanceable. In fact, there are no Bioware responses to that thread at all.
DG responded in another thread basically saying people are silly for assuming BEM is romanceable b/c it's neither confirmed nor denied that he is or isn't at this point lol

No, but that response from David Gaider sound promising:
First: characters go through a lot of changes over time, and a lot of different concepts. Even in the DAI concepts which have been released, I'm pretty sure you'll see a few different versions of that "bald elf" character. Don't assume that's the one in which the in-game model has been based.
And, at any rate, you can already see what he looks like in-game. I believe his in-game model was posted on the BioWare blog in the December update. That still doesn't tell you what he's about, or gives you any better impression of what kind of LI he would make (as this is evidently the only purpose of characters)...quite frankly, a character that is ugly as sin could still be an awesome party member.
We'll be discussing the character more at some point in the future. Stay tuned for that. Until then, I suppose "bald elf guy I wouldn't want to sleep with" will have to do.
