Haha. Cullen now unconfirmed to be confirmed to be uncomfirmed?
Don't remind me
oh Gaider you are a cruel cruel master, but we all still love you

It's not problem! Yeah, I'm still hearing a confirmation to being a companion, but maybe I'm missing something? Or maybe the frantic screaming of the girls in front muffled what was actually said?
Either way, it's what I heard. I'm here today as well so I'll be going to the developer signing later on, maybe I can ask then and hope for a response?
You can only try Lady Divine :-) we wish you the best of luck
I just read Mike said they made Cullen a LI because "We figured, three games, let's give him a shot. You go for it buddy, and if you're a little awkward? Well, that's okay." ![]()
Yeah, it would be great to give it a shot. We're getting a lot of back and forth on the issue. lol

The only video I can find of the panel cuts out right before the actual reveal. ![]()
Okie doke, I shall ask. Maybe I can pretend to collapse and when they help me up can I cry out "BUT IS CULLEN A COMPANION? DID I HEAR YOU CORRECTLY?"
A foolproof plan! Do it! ![]()
If Cullen is both an LI and companion, I'd think the most likely answer to the warrior issue is that one of the others is the military advisor, like we expected of Cullen. Either Iron Bull or Grey Warden.
Yes where are the blonde women??? C'mon. Miranda in Me2 was originally going to be blonde but they changed that aghhh.
Cmon Sera end that run by being a LI.
I could see the GW being an important advisor/temp companion type?

Grey Warden was already seen in the player party, with sword and shield, in pre-alpha video last year. Iron Bull was confirmed as a companion by magazines a few weeks ago (although I guess they could all be wrong at the same time) and shown in screenshots as well.
The only thing we have on Cullen is confusing PAX panel claims and the voice actor who has no idea what a companion is. I'm still baffled that BioWare would even confirm the guy is a companion/LI before showing him in a screenshot or concept art properly (he might be that dude in the War Room, but that is a guess, not a confirmation).

Well, I'm just going on the fact that we also have multiple pieces of concept art of Cullen, we know he's definitely in the game in some capacity and he's confirmed as an LI with mixed responses on whether they also said companion. With that much evidence, I'm not willing to say he's 100% not a companion. We haven't seen Iron Bull with the party and Grey Warden could be a temp companion. Maybe Cullen is still an NPC, but he keeps swinging back and forth in likeliness as a companion. Just shooting out some alternatives, I guess.

It is strange that they would confirm him as a LI before we even get any concept art, come to think of it. Unless they're saving that stuff for some big FF reveal? Perhaps that is just wishful thinking on my part, but it would explain all the secrecy around his status.I mean, they had no problem coming out and clearing up that Morrigan and Leliana were going to be NPCs when people began speculating about them. Important characters, but not companions. Why not do the same for Cullen if that is the case? For some reason they refuse to confirm one way or the other.
Divine, I think you can see what kind of puzzlement has been happening the forums about Cullen. The last three posts pretty much sum up several pages and a couple of threads worth of confusion. ![]()

Lol oh yes. I wasn't confused until I popped in here! The signing starts @ 12:30pm EST and then again @ 5pm, we're gonna be heading there at about 1 so hopefully then we'll have this all, if not mostly, squared away. ![]()

Technically, they haven't said anything about Leliana for the game itself. She was spotted (at the same as Cullen might I add) by the GI team last year and we have seen someone that might be her in two concept arts (one being the War Room), but the dev haven't comment on her as far as I recall.
While Morrigan got the important NPC label early on.

Regardless, if they confirmed Morrigan as an important NPC, why not Cullen? What's the big deal?

Maybe because he's not an important NPC. That doesn't mean he is a companion either. Not all characters are companions or important NPCs. They also don't want to spoil the entire game 6+ months before it is released.
The "20% more" lacks the context of exactly how much that would be. 20% of 10 minutes is 12 minutes. 20% of 100 hours is 120 hours.
Though yes, I do get the impression that David is keen on sharing his opinion on things, and that that doesn't mean that whatever thing he mentioned has 0% chance of being in the game.
Well, I certainly won't debate it with you
. My post was really a response to the sentiment of "David said X, so we know that there will only be 4 romances." I regularly forget that there were 5 romances in DA2, and I was pointing out that the leap from 5 to 6 is significantly different than the leap from 4 to 6. I have no idea what to expect, but I don't think we should read too much into anything.
Imo I think the NPC romances in ME had less content because ME had a large number of romances to work on compared to this
This is why ME is a terrible example to look at when it comes to number and content to an extent
I'm wondering, if IB is an LI, if he will be restricted to Qunari PCs only. If we take the conversation between Morrigan and Sten in DAO as being honest then I don't see how a physical relationship between IB and any other race would work. Unless he's a chaste LI, or like Morinth where you die if you try to have a physical relationship.

I'm pretty sure Sten was just yanking her chain. Alternately, the Inquisitor could invest in some plate armour and a pry bar
.
I don't really think they'd invest in a LI for only one race. There's just such a small selection already. To be honest, though, I don't think Iron Bull is likely as an LI. Just my guess, though.
