I'm not Cullen fun, but I think it is ok to move further after you made a decision. You can't know if your decision was right or bad. May be warden rejecting was his best decision ever. For example he could end being rejected because of rich prince Alistair, or end with lifeless warden body sacrificed for greater good. I would be glad if he could live fine after part ways with warden, means he do not focus on past. Also there is a lot of time passed since he seen warden, I'm not sure, may be 10 years? That's a lot of time to think, for feelings to fade, and even forget what she looks like.

Naaah, I like me some angst.

You know I agree that gay couples end poorly often in Dragon Age.

However most romances end poorly in Dragon Age.

The "Dark" part of Dark Fantasy I guess.

So I've been thinking about the romances and I was wondering, do you think that the extended development time means that the team might be more likely to implement a 2/2/2 ratio?  And, if so, do you think that the fact that we are having NPC romances could be the result of that decision?

Something like: they added in Cullen and a female NPC as romance options because they had additional time and, since there are now 6 LI's they decided to go back to the DA: O approach of having a variety of sexualities represented in the LIs?

It's totally speculation, but I was wondering what people think about it.

I think they could have decided to go with 2/2/2 based on the NPC romances but, if that's the case, I'm not for it. I really dislike the idea of not having a choice between two companion romances. NPC romances are not a replacement for companion romances, imo.

That's assuming that both NPC romances are going to be Bi

It doesn't really matter if they are or not, somebody isn't going to get two companion romances.

Yeah, I don't know why, but I've got this sneaking suspicion that Cullen is going to be a straight romance.  It's partly because of the "can't romance who they want with their character" quote from Gaider and it's partly because of the fact that Cullen is already a polarizing individual because of his fandom.  I could already see alot of people complaining that a bisexual Cullen is fanservice and retconned and blah blah blah.  Perhaps they would make him straight to avoid all that if they are already choosing to have a straight option.  And hoping that his female fans are devoted enough to overlook that he isn't a companion romance because they've been waiting so long for his romance anyway.

Well I personally don't have a problem with it, but I know some will.

I tend to avoid saying things like that to avoid unnecessary conflict lol

I don't really care if Cullen is straight. If they're doing the 2/2/2 system, it benefits me if he is straight. Then I get the two companion romance options that I wanted. I imagine a lot of women aren't going to be thrilled, though, in addition to the guys that wanted to romance Cullen. I really wouldn't be surprised if the NPCs are bisexual, though. That's the most "fair" approach. I'm also more inclined to think so, because I'm not sure how confident I am that they'd make a straight LI the NPC romance.

To be honest, though, I'm still of the opinion that it's just as likely that they're doing 5 romances, like in DA2, and we wont see 2/2/2 at all this game.

My take on it is that, unless the DAI romances are less expensive than DA2's, we should see the same amount of LI's, meaning four. (We should remember that Sebastian was DLC, and thus had separate funds allotted to his romances that wouldn't be part of the base-game.) Thus I find it very unlikely that there be difference sexualities for each character. I believe these characters are: Cullen, Cassandra, Sera, Solas.

However, if we do assume they implement a 2/2/2 ratio, I feel the fairest way would be to make an NPC romances (if there are any) the bisexual pair, and then the companions should be either gay or straight. So, were this the case, my guess would be:

GAY               - DHMG       - Sera
STRAIGHT    - Solas        - Cassandra
BI                  - Cullen       - Scribe Girl

I doubt they would replace companion romance with an NPC romance, so I don't really think there will only be four with Cullen. I think they probably meant there wouldn't be comparatively more time and resources on romances. They most likely meant that romances would get the same ratio allocated to them. Everything is expanded this time, so I wouldn't be surprised if romances aren't comparatively expanded to everything else in game.

Yeah, it would be unfair for the males to be 1 companion LI and 1 NPC LI while the females to be 2 companion LIs. So for every male NPC romance, there will very likely be a female  NPC romance.

As for me, I hope they have 6 and have all available to all.

I had a dream last night that DA:I had 2/2/2 romances and Solas was gay.  But my dreams aren't prophetic as far as I know.   :P

If there's actually six romances, I kinda feel inclined to think the 2/2/2 is going to happen.  The only thing that makes it feel a bit lopsided is the likelihood that two of the romances would be NPCs.  Personally I've always preferred choice so I hope they'll continue to be bi no matter how many of them there are.

I think there is going to be rage regardless, for one the system of 2/2/2 makes four companions exclusive to one gender and there is the speculative problem that the bi option would be NPCs. Some people will complain that they have only one option, others that they are maybe NPCs and than there is the old one, I want to romance this or that but cannot....

I really never understood all the complain DA 2 got for the making all the companions available. To tell the true I think Mass Effect 2 was a lot worse since you did not even had the choice to the same sex romance, And somehow it got a lot less heat for it.

Something about "Oh it's not realistic" and "It cheapens the characters". :P BS, in my opinion.

Really annoys me when people say being bisexual is bad & tarnishes a character in someway, i get stuff like that irl & it's a dumb thought to have.

That's a shame. :( Yeah it's pretty dumb.

People get really creative with their reasons for thinking it cheapens the character, too. I don't know. I don't see how giving people more options rather than less can ever be a bad thing.

We haven't actually seen many guesses for LIs so far, since we've been distracted by the possible sexuality structure they'll use. Who do you guys think will get the slots? If they actually do 2/2/2, who do you think will fall into each slot?

I think Dorian and Solas for the men, Cassandra and Sera for the women. NPC romances will be Cullen and Scribe Girl, if they balance them, but maybe just Cullen.

I can't guess which sexualities they'll be. My only bias is that I want Dorian available for m/m romances, whether he's bi or gay.

If I had to guess at this point, I would say:

Male LI's:  Cullen and Solas (and DHMG, if there are 6)

Female LI's:  Cassandra and Scribe Girl (and Sera, if there are 6)

If they are not all bisexual, I would say:  Cullen and Cassandra as straight; DHMG and Sera as bisexual; and Solas and Scribe Girl as gay

Of course it doesn't get much more speculative than this because it's not really based on anything. ;)

I have no issue with playersexuality, or whatever you want to call it.  Sexuality is just one aspect of a character and truth be told, far from the most important.

Not what I want, what I think.

What I want is the Grey Warden, Cullen, and DHMG as bisexual options.

And, I guess, some ladies as well..... ;)
