Exactly how did all those Geth at Atlas station get their hands on weapons? Did it not occur to Archer & Co. that maybe they should remove the firearms from the crashed Geth ship? Is it standard Cerberus procedure to scatter firearms about their science labs?

According to Joker, Cerberus is nothing but a bunch of clueless, incompetent idiots. He speaks truth, he always does.

Or for that matter the Geth on the Alerai. Why would Ra'el build full-on combat platforms, arm them and expect not to get killed? It would have been a nice detail if the Geth plaguing the Alerai armed themselves with Quarian weapons and at Atlas with human ones. Though mooks and the weapons they use is a re-occuring problem throughout the series. Why are Turian and Asari troops armed with Alliance weapons? Especially when we have canon weapons for both those races.

I assume the Turians are forced to use Alliance weapons because the Reapers captured all the Turian ones to give to the Marauders. :P

Aliens use human weapons because human weapons are surprisingly more adaptable and offer more variety than alien weapons do.

I think I heard something about the Geth building their own weapons from the materials that were available at each of those sites. This was a long time ago ofc, so I don't know whether I'm muddling ME2 with reruns of SG-1 where they're fighting Replicators.

They got them the same way Wile E. Coyote got his stuff. Acme shipped the weapons to the Geth pronto.

They build it from other materials, just like the Geth did in the Quarian ship. Didn't you ask yourself from where all those Geth came from? Tali only sent small, disabled pieces.

Anyway, Miranda used to have a brian, but then ME2 ended.

^This.  Petrovsky and Brooks showed some competence, but alas they were doomed by association.

Writing oversight I presume.

Although it doesn't seem too unreasonable that the Geth would start building their weapons after a period of time, I assume the materials needed are near by. When they first rebelled they probably had to robot-handle the Quarins/Cerberus red shirt and steal their weapons before building their own though.

Edit: These are also the pro-humanity guys who's experiments always (and almost solely) consist of humans.

Chris L'Etoile indirectly answered this question back on the old, old forums. Fabrication technology in the MEU is far more advanced and common than is ever explained or explored in-game. You can 3d print just about anything provided you have the materials (remember omni-gel?) and the information to build it.
