i think this is a very bad decisions of Bioware,a charácter important.
probably after of this notice the game start with the death of King Alistair or a mention of dissapear...very basic point.
I think maybe there's still a small chance of a cameo appearance.
Unless you can also confirm that voice recording is also complete, then anything Steve Valentine has to say publicly on the subject so far may simply be inaccurate.
Furthermore, the consequences of his voice not being present in DAI is no predictor of his character's status.

He might be lying. If he's not, then there's still time for him to be contacted. But if he's really not going to be in the game, maybe it's just time to let him go even if he's my favorite DA character.

No voice actor =/= definitive non-appearance. He still could very well show up and just not talk.
Doesn't bother me either way. His cameos in DA2 were inconsequential at best, Denerim doesn't look like it'll be available in DAI (meaning he likely won't appear as Fereldan's king), and from what I can recall, the Wardens are mostly going up to the Anderfels for whatever reason, meaning a lot of the big-name Wardens like the Origins hero, Alistair, and potentially Loghain won't show up at all due to being somewhere you can't visit.
Being a major character in one instalment doesn't oblige Bioware to include him in all subsequent instalments.
If it's September 2014 and he still swears that no one has contacted him, odds are good that Alistair isn't in the game... but it's still March. I doubt they're even thinking about recording cameos at this point.

Why exactly would it be nice to see Alistair again? He has an incredibly shallow personality, no personal drive, ambition, or even demonstrated interests other than "I want someone else to tell me what to do because responsibility R hard" and "I want someone to wuv me". Time for him to get on with his life.

I too think it's a terrible decision not to include one of the originals. However, I believe this is a work. I think they be lyin', schemin' and plottin'. Though I may be unfortunately incorrect. With the way Inquisition is shaping up, I can forgive such an egregious mistake. I think that the digital breasts will be bigger too.
It makes no sense for him not to appear. He is king in potentially lots of playthroughs, and in Bioware's default world state. You would think the king would want to be involved when the fate of Ferelden hangs in the balance.

I dont get this. Sure he was a fun character at start the way he ended up in an unhardened not king state, well I hope to never see the character again. I mean the drunken cameo in DA2 was absolutely terrible writing. I'll happily pass on more of that.
Besides, I'd rather explore new characters then keep seeing all the first ones keep coming up.
