Ugh why are people still talking about Skyrim?? :P I played that game for a few hours and then became utterly bored. I think Dragon Age will benefit from NOT being like Skyrim.

I have hopes that this game will be so good that it won't need mods. I feel like a lot of the most common mods used for DAO were for issues I'd expect to be resolved by DAI, such as better graphics, better romances, more character customizations, etc.

Maybe Skyrim was so mod-friendly because the core game wasn't good enough.

Skyrim is moddable because Bethesda undertands how the modding community is beneficial to them and their games as a whole.

?!?!?!?! Where do you get that conclusion from her post? I highly doubt she'd want that.

Even with the fact that there's a massive amount of arrogant people that brag about mods and act like that makes PC gamers better than console gamers, there's the fact that it's completely unfair, no matter which way you're trying to swing it.

There is nothing unfair about it. If you want to use mods don't buy a machine you know full well can't use mods then to proceed whine about not being able to use them because you didn't pick the right machine which has the capabilities to actually use them.

Again, you assume I, since I am the person you are discussing, have any choice in what I get.

What's with people assuming things? "Herp derp they chose to get consoles herp derp."

BioWare has released two games with end user toolsets, including one game effectively built around the entire concept.  We're not oblivious to the pros and cons of a toolset.

So the unfairness is that some of us can only afford consoles. Or can't afford a big enough apartment to fit a desktop PC, sometimes.

Ah, okay. I just remembered that that discussion was about a post of mine so felt I should chime in.

You mean so that Bethesda can have the modders fix the parts that Bethesda left broken and did not optimize for the PC?

The height of entitlement, right here. You better go tell your neighbors their not allowed to have a better car than you. It'd be unfair.

I don't have a car, so that doesn't really work.

And I'm fine with people having better stuff than me. But them saying that it is the person's fault for not being as fortunate as you is what I have a problem with.

That's not unfair - merely unequal.  Those two concepts are not equivalent.

Or perhaps so different users can have different interfaces and different experiences based on their differing preferences.

Console users are not a homogeneous group, and yet the lack of mod support forces them to have homogeneous experiences.

1un·equal

 adjective \ˌən-ˈē-kwəl\

: not the same in a way that is unfair : giving more advantages, power, etc., to some people and less to other people for unfair reasons

That's an absurd definition.  What word would you then use for two things that are merely dissimilar without being unfair?

Just as a note, it's important to link to the whole definition.

http://www.merriam-w...tionary/unequal

It shows that the word can be applied in different ways.  Unequal can be used as a synonym (because it's often used with the context of social equality), but that can be obfuscating and if you look at the other definitions you can see that it's referring to equivalence.  You and I are unequal by virtual of being distinctly different entities.

In any case, semantics discussions aren't really necessary beyond sorting out the specifics of what ones means?  I hope people can understand what Sylivus was referring to when he said "unequal."

Anyone else think that's a really odd dictionary entry? Looks like it leads with a meaning that's flagged as archaic in the full definition.

I blame Noah Webster for enough already. His advocacy of orthographic reform is unforgivable.

i wish you would have cut out this fair-unfair-thing  between PC and consoles. It`s a pretty old issue and has been discussed so much in the past.

To me, the non-release of some games and franchises on PC but on Console is unfair as well. I know  Sony and M$ need them as an arguement to sell their products but i'm still pi***d - especially with M$ because they keep ignoring the one platform that made them what they are:The PC.

So why can't you leave those who still prefer the PC - like me - this advantage? I like mods,i love the modding-community and i would love to see a ton of them for Inquisition. Still, i think it's unlikely to happen.

By the way: Since when are PCs that exceptional big? As if it would barely fit in a garage and not beneaht my desk, whre it stands.

Hey, it wasn't my point in the first place. I was just trying to follow Hinata.

And yeah, I'm still waiting for Heavy Rain on PC.

The problem with PCs, IIRC, is that some folks can't fit a desk to put the PC under.

This is the only way i could play the game, since the modders will actually listen to the most requested features and make it happen. I hope they make the game mod friendly since they are going with distinct classes bs and the same weapon variety of DA2 ( that of a school project)

Dissimilar. Equality has come to be bound up with notions of fairness.

That's nonsense. Is fairness even a meaningful concept? I'm confident that justice isn't, and the two are often used together.

And unequal isn't synonymous with dissimilar; equivalence is much more precise.
