Each time I insert a quote via editor UI button and copy-paste text from a message I reply to, I get extra empty lines.
I can't see or edit them in a quick-reply (it looks normal), but they appear once I send the message. T
hen I can edit and remove them.

I found out, that after previewing I can see and fix those spaces in my UI, same as after posting+editing, but they should not be there. Where are they coming from? Browser is Chrome, 33.0.1750.146 m, it says it's the latest one.
As if the absence of a built-in selective quoting was not bad enough.
'Quote the message' button works fine, but why would I quote entire post to answer a single question or comment a single line?..
