Well title pretty much covers it but I have some things to add.

Firstly I want as much as new people as possible and that automatically makes me not want Cullen as companion. However I don't mean "New" as in literally. Anders and Merril were not New per se but their personalities were so different they were almost new companions. If this could happen to Cullen then why not.

He is a Templar, if he joins the inquisition it means he is a deserter of his duties. That is why we never had a real Templar as a companion. Alistair was not one either, given that he actually supports mages added to his character as well.

So if by chance Cullen shows his middle finger to Templars and changes in positive way he is welcome to join my party. I think he will indeed forsake the Templars after what he saw.

Discuss.

After the DA cutscene where he hauls Bethany's ass off to the Circle, the only thing I want to do to him is the murderknife.

And welcome to the show, "Yet Another Cullen Thread!" Episode 569.

Personally, I don't like him and don't want to be around him, but he's got his fanbase and they tend to be good people themselves, so if we're putting in too many companions anyway, they might as well go for it.

Well I'm not a Cullen fan and I'm just asking who wants him in the game.

I'd hate nothing more to have the Cullen from DA2 in my game. Murder knife awaits him.

They really need to work on him with extra effort because the Cullen we know of has nothing interesting to add to DA:I. A very good writing and change of character is required.

I personally see him as the new Knight-Commander of Kirkwall, but if Bioware wants to please his fanbase, i wouldn't object. For me he is too timid to be interested.

I like him.
He's overcome his personal demons regarding mages by the end of DA2.
He realises they aren't inherently evil but he is still a loyal Templar. I think he's a good man who finally stands up for himself.

He's a very human character, which is why I think some people love him and some people hate him.

I would like him as a companion, but as people have pointed out, he could be quite similar to Cassandra. I won't be disappointed either way, he'll most likely be an NPC if not a companion (I know we shouldn't assume from concept art, etc.)

Obviously Cullen fans don't keep creating threads asking "Why do you like Cullen?" "Why do you want Cullen?" etc. The only thread they created was the Cullen appreciation thread in the DAII forums.

They're quiet, unassuming and plotting something ALWAYS plotting something. XD

Haha....So OP, you want Cullen if he is acting completely different then what we have seen before. Like he is new companion in Cullen's body....Interesting many people find that repulsive, since Anders 180 is complete catastrophe. Merril is barely in Origins, we dont get to know her at all.

Say, Leliana is companion, i would like her to be herself not some different person.

Well Act 1 Anders is not that different but with time he changes a lot. In Act 1 he is witty, jokes a lot, has fun with Varric. He is even jokes when Fenris insults him directly. Its Awakening Anders really.

Anders is one of the most tragic characters Bioware has come up with. The important thing is we witness them changing all the way.

I am Cullen-neutral. On the one hand, I might prefer having entirely new characters over returning ones since we'll already have Varric and Cassandra. On the other hand, he could have an intersting perspective on the current situation in Thedas. I'm easy either way.

(I reserve the right to spend a whole ten minutes pouting if he's a romance option and Varric isn't, but I'll get over it.)

I'm not completely opposed to having him as a companion, but I found him rather bland and forgettable so far.

But I didn't really care for "DAO Isabela" either, and she became my favorite companion in DA2...

Since i think we will get leliana, varic and cassandra, i think these are enough familiar faces. If there is Rhys, or some dlc companion like Cole, it is too much for me.

As long as his role in the Kirkwall Annulment is appropriately addressed, he could be interesting

I really like Cullen, but I don't want him as a companion. I'd rather that he grows on his own and becomes the leader he can be.

Cullen didn't shine in either game. He was kind of boring. He's currently the favorite of fangirls and fanboys. That's all he is.

Still, there is a lot of room to develop him. He was a naive and good hearted templar that wanted the best for mages and templars (and in some player canons had a crush on a female mage), then became a magic and mage hater (because of the torture); when things settled down he calmed a little but still retained a degree of hate towards magic, but in the end he did the right thing by opposing a mad zealot that was his superior and the most high ranking person in the order and maybe even Kirkwall.

He's a conflictual character that was tortured by magic, saw his comrades killed and what mages can become if left unchecked, but he also saw what can happen if templars get to powerful and where an overzealous nature can lead. I think that his internal struggle is now at the point where he can be led in one way or another by us and that makes me want to give him a chance.

I can't get over how utterly creepy the concept of a templar and circle mage love affair is. I imagine it would be similar to a corrections officer taking a liking to one of the prisoners... Hard to escape a certain connotation. Would be interesting to have Cullen as a companion though. But Izzy takes prime precedence.

No I don't. We already know a lot about him as NPC and he is too much as Alistair. Cassandra will be PRO chantry, there is no need in 2 PRO CHANTRY person.

Anthought I'd liek to see him as NPC.

I think he has value as a same counterpart to red templars as well as the conventionally attractive human male LI, but I don't think he'll be a companion.
