I know this is WAY off topic, but today, every time I see this thread title my brain goes into Transformers mode. I keep seeing 'Peter Cullen' and wondering who Optimus Prime is going to voice in DA:I.
Hmm, if he voiced anyone we know of so far I'd say the Grey Warden character would fit best. And he should have a villain Warden voiced by Frank Welker.

Beardy? Swoon. Peter Cullen as Beardy? Double nerd swoon.
Edit: Oh yes, on topic. I never thought I'd say this but I think Beardy is enough man for me and I wouldn't be too sad if Cullen isn't a companion. I'll still make doe eyes at him in NPC form though.
I like Cullen and would like to see him as a companion. Make sense too after all the fan feedback and concept art and tweets. Also, his character would be interesting and have stories to tell of his adventures.
Cullen is always a character that has just sort of existed to me. He's never offended me, never annoyed me and he's never made much of an impression on me besides "oh yeah, there's Cullen." I don't dislike Cullen, he's just kind of there. I wouldn't mind getting to know him better in Inquisition but I'm not clamoring to see him again.
That aside the only reason why I would be against him returning is that I really want Varric as an LI in Inquisition and I'm worried that Cullen will take up that spot instead of Varric, which seems very likely. Especially since the LI patterns for ladies in DA have always been human and elf men (Alistair/Zevran, Anders/Fenris), and now with the bald elf pretty much confirmed as a companion...I feel my chances at dwarven loving slipping away... :'(
But these are just the ramblings of a fangirl, pay me no heed.

I agree, on all counts. I'll admit to being a Varric fangirl myself, though I'm ambivalent about him being a LI. He's in the game, he's going to be in my party, so that's what I care about. I do agree about the lack of dwarven romances in BioWare's fantasy RPGs though...
I'd like a templar as a companion if the mage / templar war is going to be important in DA:I. We shouldn't have only mages as it has been the case already during two games, our head filled with their opinions and their point of view. ( And Asunder was totally the point of view of the mages. ) For the sake of objectivity.
So, if it is Cullen, I'd be happy.
As long as the new engine doesn't give him Ramen noodle hair again...

All I had to do was search google for "Cullen dragon age noodles."

I ran into that on the DA confessions tumblr. It's worth the read.

Whenever I see Dragon Age or Mass Effect Confessions from Tumblr I end up having to count to ten and take deep long breaths, and its even worse than here because I can't counter what they say

I'd love to have Cullen as a party member. I really liked him in DA2, just for generally being pretty cool. He would fulfill his duties as a templar, but was willing to call the actions of his superior into question. After his torture in DAO (I'll never forget him telling me to KILL THEM ALL) and the way BioWare seemed to like writing characters in DA2, I'd have easily expected him to have an extreme hatred for mages. But that was not the case, and he even went as far as to bring up the Ferelden Circle and use that as a case against the annulment in DA2. He really hardened up and turned out to be a responsible and reasonable guy in spite of his experiences. Or perhaps because of... all the same, Cullen was real.
If they keep his reasonable character in tact I'd love to have him in DAI, if only for my (or my character's) sanity. I also think he could have a valuable opinion to offer the inquisitor. I mean the guy has witnessed firsthand the corruption of both mages and templars. He's also interacted with the two prominent heroes of the last ten years, Warden and Hawke. And finally I think that he, Cassandra, and Vivienne would make for an awesome party for dialogue and perspective. Templar/Chantry/Mage party? Yes please.
I think it would interesting to have him as a companion. I'm neutral towards him but it would be great so you get his perspective towards the mage issue and what went down in Kirkwall.
So far, I only read the first page, but I hear where you're coming from OP.
Personally, I am a Cullen fan, and would like to see him in DAI. One if the reasons I would like to see him is precisely because it seems as though there is character development to be had there. Considering where we left off in DA2.
Alot of strings were left dangling. One of those--that interests me--is just wth happened with/to Cullen. i mean, it does seem ripe for a kinda questioning of beliefs for him. And really, I can't believe he let everybody go.
Srsly, the ppl that wre responsible/involved with blowing up the Chantry and killing the Grand Cleric walked ouut of there? Especially if you let Anders live. Omg. Somebody's gonna take the fall for all that happened in the final moments of DA2. I just can't see arriving Templars to the situation being cool with the ppl responsible skipping off.
And wwith everything that's supposed to be going on: the Templars losing their minds, factional divisions and all that, I have no idea where his character is gonna come down in it.
I like Cullen as a Character and how he has developed through the series. As a companion it might be interesting to see how him and Cassandra get along, with him being a Templar and her being a Seeker and Varric wise cracking on the side.
Two things I liked about his character in DA2 was the fact he informs Hawke of the coming trouble with Aveline being removed as city guard captain (act 3), which of course I got the impression Meredith was behind that whole plot, and he took Meredith on at the end. I see Cullen as being more neutral. Cullen can see both sides of the situation. Alistair is in the same boat, because of Morrigan and Wynne both helping in DAO.
I don't see Cullen leaving the order. He seemed to stand up for the order with Meredith and I think he came to the conclusion lyrium had finally addled her brain. Which does happen to Templars and they are sent to retire in Orlais. Not sure what will happen now with the current situation.
I'm neutral on Cullen being a companion, I'm fine either way.
I'm neutral to Cullen, so either is fine. But why do people think that he'll be a companion?
We have no idea who the companions are gonna be. Even Iron Bull, or Bald Elf Guy. We're more sure abt BEG, than IB...but tbh so far we have Cass, Viv and Varric.
That's all we Know. Everything else is just speculation....and in my case...dimly, flickering hope.
