I just feel Cullen works better as an NPC. He's like the Forest Gump of Thedas; always around for the important events, but never the central character in them.
Cullen. Opinions & Do You Want Him As Companion.

I like Cullen and I'm in the camp that actually wants him as a companion. I want to know more about him and I think he'd add a nice grey morality flair to the party.
It would be fun to watch his character struggle to come to terms with the upheaval in everything in believes in. Could he set aside his mage/templar ideals in pursuit of the greater good (you know, just saving the world and all that)? I also really want to clash with him, try to bring him around to my way of thinking but fail from time to time because he holds firm to some beliefs and won't be trampled by anyone. In case it wasn't clear, I actually enjoyed rivalries and rivalmances >.>

Cullen is pro-templar players last chance at a real Templar companion. Ex-templar slightly pro mage Alistair surely doesn't count. He did not even finish his training.

An optional companion, yeah. I never liked the Templars but tons of people do.

My personal preference is to not have any on the previous characters as companions. Since to my dismay, they have already added Varric and Cassandra as confirmed companions, I don't want Cullen as well. Don't get me wrong, I loved Varric and Cassandra in DA2. I just feel that their story should be finished now. Time to move on.
I agree about not wanting previous companions again, and that shipped sailed when Varric was confirmed, but we haven't had Cassandra or Cullen as companions. Yes, Cass was in DA2 and she had her own anime, but she still has a story to tell about what's going down with the chantry, veil tear etc... The same can be said with Cullen. Yes he's appeared twice now and I think it's time we got to know the Knight Captain while he's fighting side-by-side the Inquisition...just saying

At this point, I don't think Cullen is pro-anything considering the outcome of Fereldan and Kirkwall, but that's just me.

I think Cullen is more pro-Templar than pro-mage at this point. In DAO, you could argue he was more pro-mage than pro-Templar, and he was definitely anti-mage in DA2. In DAI, I think he's progressed to a more neutral position, where he's wary of mages and what they can do, but able to see them as people to be protected rather than monsters in larval form.

pretty much this. I also wonder what he thinks about the Red Templars?

Funny, because the more neutral position is what I got from him by the end of DA2.

Well, he could be Knight Commander of Kirkwall now.I would have to say, yes, I would like to see Cullen as a companion and because I'm a "fangirl".Given his history with the templars and mages he could provide some insight on both groups. I don't think he would work well as an npc, because let's be honest, he probably wouldn't be featured anymore than he was in DAO and DA2. What could I possibly learn out of a few 5 minute scenes. Besides that, I want to know what were his feelings about what went on in the Gallows prior to Act 3.

Who would want to be Knight Commander of that Hellmouth "-"...if he is then those circles under his eyes just got darker.

He's alright. Every other character I've seen looks much more interesting though. We already know Cullen. Let me get to know some more interesting people. I'm not sure Cullen is exceptionally deep.
Are his super fans all those who want to watch a CG sex scene of him and the Inquisitor?

I was never really doubtful that he'd be in DA:I, but I still think he's going to be a major NPC.

One might counter that it is unnecessary to create a new thread for the same purpose when it takes less than two minutes to find the old one.

I think he may still hold to the templar way of thinking as in being pro circle but not in a cruel psychotic way like Meredith but in wanting to make the circle better and not what is was. But regardless, if he is a companion he will be welcome on my team.

Not everyone checks the twitter thread though. ;-)

He is pretty much guaranteed to have come out of Dragon Age II changed. Personally hoping he is all anti-Templar now like Asunder's Evangeline.
