Personally? No, but the fan girls would rage the hell out of the forums if he wasn't. Ain't no one got time for that.
They wouldn't rage in any case, considering the fanbase. So far the people who complain about Cullen and open multiple threads are those who dislike Cullen.I wanted to compare Cullen to male humans only as its not really valid to compare races especially when it about looks which is already subjective enough as it is.
btw people want Cullen as LI companion. IF he is not romancable 90% of fans will rage.
And you're wrong Lulupab. I have no interest in romancing Cullen, and I want him as a companion.

Haha you wanna bet?
You don't seem like a fanboy of Cullen so you fall into the minority that want Cullen for things other than his looks and romance. Nothing would please me more to have Cullen as companion but not LI, the look on their faces, looking for flirt dialogue while none exists. Many people want Cullen for romance and you know it.

Cullen is fine, I guess. My main problem with adding him in the party is that we know so many of the characters already... Varric, Cassandra and then Cullen. It is 1/3 of the party. I want fresh blood.
Id trade Cassandra for Cullen in a heartbeat. But thats not going to happend, so then I rather change Cullen with someone new.

You don't understand what I meant. Yes, Cullen fans want him as a LI. That doesn't means that he's a companion only they rage and open multiple threads to complain about. I expect this from the people that dislike Cullen.Haha you wanna bet?

Of course there might a few that would do it, but I think that overall the fanbase wouldn't rage.
Furthermore, a lot of Cullen fans aren't interested only in his looks.
If you want we can make a simple bet, in the case Cullen isn't a companion or LI. if you win, I'll put an avatar that you want, if I win, the opposite (mind that I'll choose a templar like Alrik or Karras

This is the most reason I don't want to see him. Add him as companion because of his fangirls want it will be the worst idea of all- this always end bad in creativity. There must be fresh blood.

No thanks. Aside from the fact how borring and shallow his character is...just no.
I rather see a new companion taking Cullen's position, considering we already have 2 companions (maybe more) who were in previous games.

I still find it curious how much fan-reaction - positive and negative - Cullen is getting. xD
Yes, I did play the mage origin in DA:O as a female. Twice. And yes, I did feel kind of bad for him. I also think Cullen went through a rather nice character development between DA:O and DA2. I found him dull while playing pro-mage - but in my moderate pro-templar playthrough of DA2 I noticed how Cullen was the one agreeing with me. He was in fact one of the very few sane and reasonable templars in Kirkwall, even despite his obvious fear of mages. And I can respect him for that.
But fangirl over him? Nope. Hate on him? No reason, neither. Want him as a companion or not? I prefer new characters anytime, and certainly don't need him in my party - I could rather see him return as a somewhat important NPC, someone who represents the "normal" templars maybe - but I'm not completely against the idea. If he turns out to be a companion, I'll wait until I play the game to decide whether I like him or not. Same goes for him being an LI or not.

That's assuming he'd be in the party only for catering to his fanbase, and not for actually story reasons. This is the most reason I don't want to see him. And I think you should day 'more fresh blood' since we're getting at least 6 new companions already.

No, I don't want him. I don't get the deal with him. I guess if others do, fine.. but I hope they don't mistake that as some kind of majority wish.

The general reaction seems to be, "He seems interesting, but I am really 'meh' on including him as a companion."

May be. But this is too much for fangirls to get what they want instead of another person, who can show some new fractions in rich DA world. For example: chevalier, antivan duelist and even magister.

I'm only interested in his general attitude and growth as an NPC. DAO to DA2 showed how much he chilled out. But who knows where he goes from here.
As a fulltime character, like the poster above said.. there are cool archetypes to tap into. Magisters, Chevaliers.. who knows what is next. Even as a Templar archetype, Cullen doesn't standout to me anyways. Meredith, Gregoir, and that blind guy in the Elf alienage made much more compelling Paladin/Cleric types.

We already had an Antivan viewpoint, and we might get a magister one. On the contrary, we never got a pro-templar perspective (Alistar doesn't count for me, and neither Cassandra). Not to mention that the perspective of a person that saw both the worst of mages and templars, with a possibility of questioning (again) his views is very interesting for me.May be. Sorry, but this just seems incredibly... rude to me. "It's something that someone else wants and not me so just because of that... BOO!"
Because frankly, there is ALWAYS going to be something a few people want that others don't and well... it is just rude to dismiss that want because you don't agree with it.
I mean, personally, I couldn't give two flips if Leliana is in Inquisition or not, but am I going to go around saying negative things about her character or the people who want her around on the forums? Nope. I recognize that people have different tastes and I'm not going to rain on anyone else's parade or throw out the term "fangirl" like it is a bad thing.

I wonder- haven't you tired of Mage\Templar things. Alistair would be templar, there was a lot of templar charaters as NPC. We already know so much about the Order. I don't want to hear all of it again from companion. For example we could also have orlesian scolar or commoner: both can be intresting, can show Orlais from other side than hear "templars- pro and cons" once more.

First: If you're so tired of Mage/Templar things you might be disappointed with the next game >.>
Second: We forum enthusiasts are not the only people who are going to play DA:I. Many people who haven't been exposed to the Templar/Mage thing are going to play.
Third: Since Cullen is still a bit of a clean slate (especially since he appears moderate at the end of DA2), the writers can write almost anything they want. Even something... new and exciting! ![]()

What do you want from me? Yes I don't want to see Cullen as companion because it will be made for his fans. I want to see game, which is made by developers not some group fans. Because you know - that won't be fair. Many people love Orlais, Antiva, Tevinter. How about them? Ignore tham only because that didn't have 3000 pages in their themes? No matter that orlesian (example) noble and commoner in party can show Orlais from different poin of view and make game more deep and this option will be rejected only because of some fanarmy wants something from developers? BAH!

These threads are really getting out of hand. I see more stupid threads from people wondering why Cullen is so popular, why "fangirls" want Cullen so much, and why Bioware would EVER "pander" to said "fangirls" and give them Cullen as some sort of stupid reward.
I am offended about all of this because do you know how many threads I see filled with Cullen "fangirls" asking for him to be included as a companion? One. His official thread. While on the other hand every damn week there's another dumb thread filled with offensive comments about the women- and men- who like the character and would like to see more of him.
You guys need to get over it. There's no amount of begging in this world that would get David Gaider or any of the other developers, to put Cullen in as a companion just because a bunch of people like him.
Frankly, I hope that the moderators will start shutting threads like this down. There's a million of them already, and all they end up doing is turning vile and offensive.
