...awesome. So, all group conversations have been wiped, including all PM's...this is a travesty. I get a 'clean slate' can be appealing, but there's no backup? - no warning? ...surprised they didn't claim they got 'hacked' again... >.> ...or did they?

I haven't trolled the forums to see public reaction. Believe me though that I'm not happy about it. If it was archived I might feel differently.

At least I check the network every day so I was able to restart the group the same day they switched over.

So this looks interesting (link below). I like how they created the lore and although it looks nice in the pictures, the pdf samples look much poorer. To me, it will depend on the size (I have no idea what the dimensions of any of the items are and the pictures don't provide a frame of reference) and quality. Thoughts?

P.S. Beo- Have you figured out how to hang your lithos?

Dsurian - Here's a link to the old forums. Should be able to access your PM's and old group convos.

I'm not sure personally. There's so much lore, I'm not sure how anyone could write each and every last bit of it down well.

And I'm still working on the hanging art issue. I'm looking at the bookcase/cabinet now, so hanging things has gotten pushed behind that.

Well, they don't have any more of the "libraries" that I wanted up in my gaming room/office anymore...  Apparently they were huge sellers but difficult to get.  I spoke with the owner and he said he'd look for more or something similar (he's all for finding more to sell as they were such a great moneymaker) at the convention/market this week.  I think I'll drop in on him on Wednesday and see what he and his wife have managed to find.  Or maybe Thursday...I have one of those days off...  Working Easter though.  I'm not sure I've ever had an Easter I didn't have to work somewhere.

Yeah, it was in the message I just sent out. I think I managed to undo it. I'm thinking they waited till today to put in the request to give me the least amount of time to cancel it. Apparently they are now requiring groups to have a Bioware game discussion to stay alive and wanted to off us in the off topics., though beforehand they were telling us to take our personal conversations to groups to get it out of the forums. More EA interference I'm sure.

I dunno...it's hard to tell these days for sure - really need to see it in person, and on a wall. I certainly like it more than "The Team"...not sure if I like it more than the N7 Day Giclee, as i think both are nice summaries(?) of the series, but as I missed my shot at the N7 Day one a long time ago, this'll have to do.

So its been awhile, how is everyone?

I'm still in college blowing my brains out with video game design and development. Not much has changed in my life(who would of guessed that, ;/..) just surviving.

Bought Saint's Row IV commander in cheif edition for $40. Pretty awesome game and a heck of a deal. If you want to see the most awesome weapon in video game history look up the Dubstep gun on youtube. Epic.

@Dan - my favorite; one hell of a gun, though - does it actually cause damage, or is it just that amazing effect? ...I've tried playing that series, but honestly it all just seems way too over-the-top...too ridiculous. Would rather just stick with GTA.  ^_^

I'm kinda schoolin, kinda gaming - mostly helping out my closest friend, who got engaged, moved, married, and pregnant within 6 months...so he's needed a lot of help. As far as gaming, been playing a bit of Fallout 3, though struggling to find something else to sink into...maybe another run through DA:O?

@Dsurian, hell yes it does damage, theres even an upgrade to make the wubs explosive! Makes npcs dance, cars bounce and all those awesome effects. That link isn't the actual song, it is that but edited without the classical music. There are 3 versions, default which you picked, industrial and pop. Both the default and industrial are awesome.

Ive been pc gaming alot, got FO3, then NV, then Skyrim. Ive modded the crap out of all 3. Some amazing mods out there, basically everything you can imagine especially with Skyrim.

Steam has been having some great sales as of late, most recent purchase is Metro Last Light, a very cool post apocalypic survival horror stealth fps. I also bought the first game in the series 2033 apparently the series took the Dead Space path where the 1st was a survival horror, then the second became more of a fps. Amazing atmosphere, great all around.

@Dan - I've loved and hated the Bethesda modding community...to the point that I've avoided the whole thing. :/ ...but some of the third-party high-res texture mods on Skyrim look absolutely phenomenal. Will probably look into it more when I get back into that game, but Fallout3 has kinda burned me out on FPS/RPG/open-world for a while. P.S. Are we not Steam friends?!? - dragontoothdw  http://steamcommunity.com/id/Dsurian/

Sooooo...got back into DA:O, and it's such a clusterfuck, mainly concerning all the DLC and between the in-game/BSN and Origin. Got talking to an EA rep about it, pointed out that I was only missing one piece of DLC (Darkspawn Chronicles), and was interested in possibly purchasing it, but wasn't sure if it would screw up anything...because despite nothing going noticeably wrong, there was a lot of DLC that I thought I had that Origin wasn't reflecting, and other DLC that Origin knew about, some of which it thought I didn't own when I know I did which BSN properly reflects...etc etc etc.  Finally he just comped me an Ultimate Edition...pretty crazy. As much as I hate EA, they're customer service has been really nice to me as-of-late...  ...only problem now is Origin barely downloading the massive amount of newly required files through my amazingly slow ISP...when I should already have them installed through the in-game functionality. >.>

Well, I've been working hard, but doing okay.  I'm pretty tired most nights, haven't cooked a meal in likely 7 or 8 nights, BUT the good news is I've got solar panels on my roof now!  =D  They're still not hooked up entirely, but I plan on emailing the installers tonight to get a solid timeline on that final peice of the puzzle.  Soon I shall be making my own power....muwhahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Anyways, it's always been a dream of mine.  I think my neighbors are jealous and I love what it'll do to my property value (renewable energy makes the price of the house go up!).  I've been spending most of my free time playing Assassin's Creed Brotherhood trying to finish it off and watching anime...lots of anime.  I keep staring at the Rightstuf deals.  Still, looking forward to the tax returns in February (65% of my panels and hookup is paid for by the government!) so I've got to keep myself from going overboard in the luxury department until then.

I think the third season of Korra is coming out soon (I own the first, watched the second on Hulu with a friend of mine) on DVD, and I finally had the time lately to watch Puella Magi Madoka (very good series).  I'm finding that I really prefer the artwork of the new Sailor Moon.  Some of it strikes me as Utena (I know the relation) but that's not a bad thing.  I actually preordered (and finally recieved) my Premium Edition of Cardcaptor Sakura but I haven't had the time to watch it yet.  There are just so many good older anime suddenly being rereleased again!  Sakura, Cat's Eye, Cybersix just to name a few.  I don't think I'll ever collect all the anime that I want.

I've kind of come to the conclusion that I will fail to complete all the goals I set out for myself by my 8/31/14 deadline, so I might end up changing some of my year-end goals.  All of my career oriented goals I completed.  The personal "fun" goals (like watch 3 anime to completion and play 5 games to completion) haven't really happened.  The anime one did but I've only beaten one game since I made that list.  >_>  At least I've started preparing for taking the CGPE early.  That's my year-end career goal.

So, working like a dog, wishing I could play more games and had more time for anime, and smiling every time I see those shiny money making panels ^_^  Not doing too bad I suppose.

@Dan - I wish I had a PC capable of playing Skyrim...much less modding a game.  Right now I have my old cheap laptop that I had hoped to replace by Christmas....will likely be next Christmas if it makes it that long.  v_v  I'm thinking desktop next time.  I can carry my tablet around for convenience.  I pretty much do that exclusively with my tablet right now as it is anyways.

@Dsurian  -  So...your friend...did it all happen in that order?  Or....was a shotgun involved?  Hehe ;)

@D I will say that modding Bethesda games is a massive headache wether your playing or making them. Skyrim especially is sssooooo fragile, it took me a good 4 days once I started modding it before I could actually play for a sustained period without crashing. Lots to learn. Yeah the majority of the mods Ive installed are high res texture and meshes. Make it look as awesome as possible. Theres lots of adult body mods aswell.....physic mods that make the bewbs and butt jiggle, lots of stuff.

I'll add you to Steam, you will be my first friend on it.

@Beo Solar panels, thats cool, is it going to be enough just to save some money eventually? Power the whole house? Getting ready for the apocalypse I say.

Puella Maji is definitely a great one, can't afford to buy anime anymore just been using  Crunchyroll. Ive watched some Funi shows through youtube and I don't mind subbed what so ever, I'm so used to it now.

This year has been the worst for my families business, didn't have any work coming in at all for months. Its been tough, I don't know how people do the whole education deal for 4+ years like my sister did. I'll be a year by November and Ive already had enough. On that note, time is flying by. Almost a year now since I started. I need to be setting some goals myself, I can't go on living like I am.

I'm happy to hear your doing ok.

You to Dsurian.

I've mostly enjoyed modding Bethesda games, though it can be a bit of a headache whether as a mod user or creator (I've done plenty of both!)  It also seems to be getting more fiddly over time, with Morrowind being the most straightforward, Oblivion/FO3/FNV striking a reasonable balance and Skyrim being the point where I started to lose the will to live!  My Oblivion installation in particular is now hideously complex and although I've documented it (kinda) I'm hoping to never have to do it again.

Most recently I've been spending most of my time playing Divinity: Original Sin, which has been a tremendous amount of fun.  Quite unexpectedly, too: in spite of being a backer, I was unconvinced, the turn-based, isometric throw-back seeming actually quite unappealing, but I'll be surprised if it's knocked off my personal "game of the year".

Personally, life has been a little too colourful.  Starting to find some long-lost self-confidence leading to "yay, I can actually go out and do things, I'll do it all the time!" making me get ridiculously stressed and resulting in being picked up by the police and locked in hospital on multiple occasions.  Last time I ended up with my sword collection being confiscated too, though fortunately I got them back.  So I'm now trying to take it a bit easier and getting frustrated with the interminable wait for a hospital place for some minor faffing (getting the hospital bed shouldn't be a problem; getting past the bureaucratic stage is a huge problem).

@Beo - despite your very goal-oriented life-style, I think you can write off the last couple of months (at least) as a complete success, personally...but yes, MUST GAME MOAR! :D ...and YAY for solar panels! My dad installed a couple on the roof of his house when he built it, but this was ~thirty years ago...not the best (or most advanced) tech. They aren't even routed into the grid, but rather work in tandem with a machine in the basement that's also connected to the water heater; it pumps cold water up to the underside of the panels, the panels heat the water (provided there's significant sunlight), and the machine pumps the water back down into the water heater and pumps some fresh cold water up again. Despite its extensive cost at the time, it's payed for itself ~5x over the past 30 years. But also curious (as Dan is) about how much of a factor yours will play...I've heard some people installing enough to have an excess and actually push the power back to the grid, and thus would actually get small checks from the power company...I assume yours is not that extensive, but you think you'll cover the entire house? - maybe not counting AC or heating? Also, no - my friend didn't have any involvement with any shotguns as of late, afaik. Heh, though in hindsight, I suppose it does sound quite redneck-ey, especially considering the area I'm from, but he and she are both kinda upper-class...which frankly makes it all that much odder.

@Dan - yeah, I'm just hoping for a nice stable texture pack that pushes most everything beyond the Steam variant...but as I'm not familiar with the community, the amount of testing/troubleshooting involved has kept me apprehensive enough. And yeah, the 'larger-boob-jiggle' people would be the scary part of that community, imho (though I know there's worse).

Yeah, school...not sure how anyone else does it either. I lose a lot of motivation right before the end of the semester (just in time for the finals...ugh), and try my best to get ready for the next semester during the break, but meh. It almost seems like I'm genetically predisposed to not be collegiately compatible, yet I can't possibly imagine doing anything else that doesn't require college...so, no choice, really - which obviously helps keep ya goin. *shrugs*

@Vom - HI! Yeah, the outside can be a very perilous place...but you gotta experience that extreme at least once in your life, imho. It's been about a year now since throwing away 2 years of my life being a relatively rebellious alcoholic...which was certainly fun at the time, but I now look back on it with a bit of disgust and know where to draw the line...yay life experience! :D ...and not to imply that our shenanigans have ever been the product of hardcore drug use (such as heroin), but I like this informative video. ...yeah, that got off topic fast - gonna run away now. Glad you're okay, though...and happy you still have that amazing sword collection. Hope hospital drama works out for ya.

Oh hey, updates.

Well, I got back from Japan a week ago. Bought maybe 40 anime (and a few game) soundtracks. Not really sure what I can say in text form other than it was an interesting experience and I have a pretty good grasp of the culture and politics after two months. Could talk about it for a few hours though. Upon returning, I'm working on some playtesting of my friend's pen and paper rpg system, while also working on some cryengine game development.

NEOTOKYO was finally released on Steam, reviving the community. it's a free mod and has similar gameplay to Counter Strike, but has an awesome setting and mechanics inspired by Ghost in the Shell.

I've modded the crap out of my Skyrim, maybe 130 mods running and the game is relatively stable, I just wish my GPU had more than 2GB of VRAM. You can check my screenshots on Steam for some idea of what it looks like (for whoever doesn't have it, steamid: nutsforalmonds ). I've also modded New Vegas, but to a lesser extent. Also, use the nexus site for mods, not Steam workshop. All the adult content is in a separate part of the site, although some of the animations and models in there are obscenely (in both a technical and aesthetic sense) highly detailed.

I have one term left in college before graduating and hopefully getting a job in something related to game software engineering. I've had an interesting course building a 3D multiplayer game from scratch out of C++ with 6 other people, so that's motivated me to think I can actually get an entry level job somewhere. Obsidian is located near me, so that's probably my #1 goal for now. Over the next few months I'll try to get a game or two done for practice.

As for anime, you guys should check out Ping Pong, it's on Hulu. I'm no fan of sports dramas, but man is it solid, and the animation style is really unusual. Shin Sekai Yori is in my opinion one of the better sci fi dramas to have come out recently, give it a few episodes and see if it's for you (on Crunchyroll). Finally, I'm about to finally watch Welcome to the NHK, been on my backlog forever, and Kill la Kill, which I've just kind of been putting off.

Oh, and Terror in Resonance (Wanatabe directing, from Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo; Yoko Kanno music, from Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Kids on the Slope) is being simulcast now on Hulu, but I haven't started it yet. Animation is beautiful though.

Anyways...everyone seems to be surviving, so good luck to you all. Hope your business gets some better times, Dan. Good luck with school Dan and Dsurian. vometia and Beo, there's something to be said for working hard and playing hard, the trick is to keep them in balance!  Also, the board survived!

Well Dan, unfortunately the battery backup to go all the way off the grid is going to cost a pretty penny, so no battery.  This means when the grid goes down, so do I.  However, with enough smarts, I could just disconnect in an apocalypse and just have power during the day :)  My goal was to get the power bill paying for itself and then some.  In theory, with this system, I should be making more money than I'd be paying the power company for power (when I use more than my panels can make or using power overnight), every month.  We're going to find out I suppose next month.  The inspector will be here on Wednesday morning, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed so I can get the final hookup!

What type of family business is it, if you don't mind me asking?  My family owns and runs a plumbing construction business for 91 years now.  The lack of work thing I can totally understand.  It's always feast or famine, but the last decade has been mostly famine.  Most jobs we bid on at cost just to keep the crews employed.  Ah, but that is why I went through 9 years of college studies, so I wouldn't end up in that cycle...and honestly...I hate crawling under people's houses and hate even more going inside their homes.  Some people are just plain NASTY!  Some hospitals too....oh the stories I could tell you all...  >_>  ~shudders~  Anyways, I don't think I'm cut out to be a Mario or a Luigi.  Whenever we have a broken pipe or the water pressure is off in the home my husband sends me off under the house to fix it or look into it, and even with it being my own home, I still hate going under it lol....

Honestly, all those years studying wasn't hard for me.  I made schedules (including 2 hours a night for games and social events) and kept to them and I treated school and studying as a job.  With that mindset, I got things done and had great grades.  My thinking was that I needed to work hard earlier so I could relax on cool vacations and throw great parties later.  The goals always helped me to keep me focused, and it gave me extra motivation when I got to cross them out too ^_^

Lol...Vom, you are so funny :)  Did you really get taken in again by them for the same thing?  You need to get on a first name basis with those officers.  It'll help lighten up the situation whenever you do go off the deep end on occassion ;)  Did you ever check to see if they scuffed your sword collection?  I know you were talking about it for a while, but didn't want to look in case they did.  For a while I was on a first name basis with the MHC officers.  They were pulling me over every day on my way home from work for a broken headlight....six months...  Sometimes two to three times in a night.  The mechanics could never figure out what was wrong with it (my car was evil and possessed!  I know it!  That light would ONLY wink out in the presence of a uniformed officer!).  I ended up just selling the car and buying a new one to keep from having to go through the nightly drama of the flashing blue lights.

Dsurian, I have a 5kW system, so part of my roof is covered.  What your father did is solar hot water, where the solar panels working heats the water for the water heater because the panels get so hot when generating electricity.  That is what most installers around here attempted to talk me into doing, because they can overcharge easily for it and make a quick several thousand off of a home with minimal work.  Going with just panels for electricity is much better.  I've figured it up, and I should be putting out tons of energy during the day, enough so that my meter should be running backwards for the most part.  I have space to add another 5kW system (you can only initially install 5kW on residential properties here.  Then add on later) so maybe next year I will if the payout looks good enough.  I've done the math and it should pay for itself in less than 3 years for me if it simply eliminates my electric bill (not considering any extra I'd make from selling the energy to the power company).  The government paying for 65% of it helps with the quick return on investment significantly.

And yes!  Must game moar!  lol....

Welcome back erik!  ^_^  I'm glad you enjoyed Japan!  It's on my bucketlist for someday, probably with my best anime-bud.  Not sure what we'll do when we get there but I think there will be a lot of gaping and doing the Japanese Tourist thing....lol.  :)

Keep us updated on the job front too.  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.  I'm not sure, but wouldn't you be able to start applying for positions about six months in advance?  I know with pharmacy school anyways, most of us had jobs lined up before we had even finished half of our rotations.  Maybe since you're so close, there'll be some networking opportunities in the meantime.  Good luck!  We're rooting for you!  By the way, if you're publishing apps or games, give us a heads-up so we know which ones are yours.  I bought a poetry book once that a friend of mine wrote so I know I'd at least look up your games if you told us about them.

Ahh, anime....which to watch next...  maybe I'll put in some Sakura, for old time's sake.  Then again, if I can just get through the last two memory segments of Brotherhood, that'll be game #2 of 5 that I can mark off my list prior to the 31st...  >_>  It's a moot point but I'll feel less pathetic with a 40% pass rate...  I need to make more time for games.

Fortunately, no drugs involved, though I do like the occasional excess of alcohol. :D  That wasn't actually the cause though, just me getting excessively stressed "because outside!" etc.  I'm severely agoraphobic but prefer to pretend I'm not.  And I think we all look back at our previous years with a certain degree of "argh".  It's part of being human.

Neatly avoided! :D I'm not quite on a first-name basis, but a lot of them are really nice guys. Some of the scabbards are a bit scuffed and I had to spend a while removing the fingerprints from one of my blades.

Anyway, yeah, I was collected half a dozen times or so in the past six months. Last one involved a lot of being sat on because I was wriggly, and my right thumb is still a bit numb from where I was handcuffed but still decided to fight with them anyway. And my legs are also still grazed from the restraints. Well we all need a pastime.

Here's a picture of me and one of the offending swords (which I now have back). I think the sword in question is very Leliana...

vomlelianassword1-s.jpg

Yes, I still need to lose weight. Bugger.

...I still need to lose weight. Bugger.

Don't we all? Workin on that myself, actually...

Anywho, the second series of Fallout bobbleheads have shown up, and I'm less than enthusiastic about buying them...but then again, I kinda already took the plunge with the first series. Also still workin on the ME ship collection...currently have the SR-1, SR-2 Cerb, SR-2 Alliance, Turian Cruiser, and Alliance Fighter...another expensive series that I haven't particularly been impressed with (especially concerning issues with the scale of the models), but 'gotta catch 'em all'. Lastly, should be uploading my Lithographs to ebay over the next couple of days/weeks, but I'll talk more on that in the other thread...

As far as gaming, my motivation for the Fallout 3 playthrough died out (like it always does) a fair bit before the end - I keep trying to do absolutely everything, and I just don't have the willpower...especially when I'm semi-forced to continually check the wiki to make sure that I not only did everything, but I did it the best way (Oasis and Tenpenny Tower are some great examples of this). Got back into Minecraft for a bit, which I enjoy, but the server I'm on - I'm practically too rich at this point...I can make and do anything I want, yet the most enjoyment I get is from caving, the point of which is to mine precious resources, of which I have way too much already - that's a problem. Tryed a DA:O run, but ended up restarting about 3 times...and then when I got to Lothering, and realized I forgot to put one skill point into trap making, so I could complete all three of those relatively basic quests (poisons, potions, and traps)...which to me meant I'd need to start over again, which basically killed the desire to play that. Honestly, thinking about attempting another Skyrim run; enjoyed the first immensely, but I didn't even finish it and can't pick up where I left off....but as I just burned out on Fallout 3, not sure if doing something so similar would be advisable so soon.

Everyone else still alive and happy?

I so very nearly got into collecting the Fallout boobleheads, but I just have so much games tat now that I showed some uncommon restraint and didn't go down that route.  What does worry me is that there may be a slew of lithographs appearing with the impending DA:I release and I won't be able to stop myself.  Sigh.

I think I know what you mean about checking the Wiki for the best way through, though in the case of Tenpenny Tower I don't think there is actually a best way unless you use mods or a slew of console commands.  They made such a clumsy attempt to make a sort of "shades of grey" quest but the outcome is just that it sucks whichever way you try to complete it.  Last time through I couldn't be bothered and just blew Roy Phillips' head off first time I saw him, which kinda solved that particular problem!

At least it wasn't like DA:Awakening which required paying very close attention to the walkthrough so as not to trigger any of the minefield of bugs waiting for the unwary player.

Most of my time lately has been taken up playing Divinity: Original Sin over and over and over, which isn't bad going for a game which on paper looked utterly unappealing to me (limited isometric viewpoint, turn-based etc etc: ew.  But actually it's really good fun) and a year after everyone else, because that's how long it took me to stop sulking about its stupid checkpoint save system, Bioshock Infinite.  Between them, just those two games have made 2014 a damn good year for my personal gaming timewasting.

Apart from that, I'm mostly succeeding in avoiding doing anything useful and productive, so yeah, alive and (reasonably) happy! :D
