Well, I didn't get the fruit cake cookies, but I got a check instead. Hmmm.... Merry Christmas everyone! I gave my husband an IOU letter for Christmas. I'm a horrible person =/ He took it in stride though.

So quiet on here, is everyone still alive and well?

Still blowing my brains out in college, thats about all.

Pretty much just been playing Destiny on 360, got Kindoms of Alamur on Steam and its a pretty cool rpg. Making a Skyrim follower mod for fun, the joke with Skyrim is I spend a decent amount of time finding and installing mods and yet Ive barely played it on the pc. I put like 250+ hours on the 360 and I'm up to like 20 maybe on pc. It looks amazing and all with all the mods though. :P

Yes, very quiet indeed. I'm still alive. A bit tired of work but considering my work's monotony, that's to be expected.

I went to Wizard World Comic Con this past weekend. Had so much fun! I met Shatner (couldn't find my voice), then got to meet David Tennant (he impuned our bacon! The horror! ) and bought lots of artwork. I wish that I had taken the time to drop by Kevin Sorbo's booth before he left. That would have been a real treat.

Other than that, I've been watching anime lately and going on a nostalgia trip. Still replaying Kingdom Hearts.

Hey Dan, Jason Hayes (does music for Blizzard and WoW) did a concert at Comic Con. Very interesting guy to talk to.

Well howdy, strangers...

Any of you paying attention to E3 or your spam-email folder? ...if not, here's a first look at ME Andromeda. Thoughts? Ready-set-go!

Characters; Protagonist is very Shepard-esque, though pointedly doing everything possible to cover up that potential confirmation. Definitely male, probably a human soldier, Alliance affiliated (another N7 - was honestly hoping for a change-up there, but oh well), allied with a krogan and a smaller female(?) humanoid, fighting humanoids ...possibly with large heads - turians/collectors/something new.

Story; The one thing that seemed definite at the end of ME3 was the destruction of the Mass Relays, which this trailer seems to confirm - FTL'in from one planetoid to the next, seeking out available and valuable resources (little spherical things on the monitor?). It actually kinda reminds me of FTL (the game), just obviously much more intense and immersive. Otherwise, looks like a new spaceship...?

Tech; New Mako - interesting. New jetpack thingy - gimmicky. Slightly new armor/weapons - to be expected. Underground expandable/retractable buildings - odd.

Other; Game engine is supposedly Frostbite - developed by DICE. Come to think of it, not sure what the other ME games used, but this is news to me. Also, around the 1:20 mark of the video, you get a good look at the back of the protagonists head/neck... Almost makes me think it might be a cyborg/surrogate-robot that might only be 'part' Shepard - I'm obviously really reaching here, but it would help explain the amount of free space in the neck/back-of-the-head area, and the somewhat odd helmet.

Hey Dman! Been working weekends so I've only kept up with the headlines of E3 (ShenmueIII, Last Guardian, etc) but I have tomorrow off so I'll have time to catch up then. I'm more interested in the next Mirror's Edge though thsn another Mass Effect. I got burned on that last one after all.

Welcome back Ablaz3d! Been a very long time. How are things going?

These are my latest two. Not game related, but still pretty awesome. I got both of these at cons but still working on hanging them. I need to get my house better insulated before I put anything upstairs lol.

I've switched over mostly to anime and statuettes. I'm just not interested in any of the games out now. Not enough time to play them. Been working on ESO but a 15GB update popped up today so I didn't get to play it on my day off. Not surprised there.

I'm kinda feeling all lthographed out at the moment: time was they were rare enough I'd grab whatever was on offer, but I think the enormous surge in Mass Effect lithos where seemingly every piece of artwork was printed in a not-so-limited quantity really took the shine off it for me.  And for the ebay crowd too, by the look of it, so a bit of a mixed blessing.

Same thing has been happening with DA:I and when I saw the tarot deck (the CE was lamentable, but the cards are nice) I had a feeling they'd probably end up printing the whole stack of picture cards as lithos and giclees.  Which they seem to be doing.  I have bought a few of them though, including the Sera ones as I'm such a fangirl.

I'm also looking more at statues having just about run out of wall space!  One of my cabinet's shelves seems to have become inadvertently dedicated to Bioshock, with Elizabeth Noir being joined by Eleanor, a Big Daddy and Big Sister figures and a small horde of Little Sisters.  Another has a Femshep and Liara, though I've mostly held off buying more statues as they're a little pricey for my finances.

Haven't played anything since coming out of hospital: it's a sad time when I'm too tired even for video games.

Hows everyone and their lithos?

I unfortunately broke down and sold ~50% of my collection. I had nowhere to hang them, couldn't afford to frame them, and honestly wasn't sure if I'd ever get around to doing either, so I figured there wasn't much harm in it - you can get the gist of what I parted with over here.

As for my remaining collection at present: linky

My three ME2 Litho's are my pride and joy ...the only early one(s) that I still feel I kinda missed out on would be Illium and maybe Saren, but they're going for $400+ on eBay, so I doubt I'll ever see it - maybe I should try for a Mini? ...I had bought several other ME Lithos, including Aria and Reaper Attack which I also framed, but I've parted with almost all of them and haven't bought any new ones ...ended up giving away an unframed/unsigned/unnumbered Saga and my framed Reaper Attack to a family friend in the military who was a fan - seemed right. I've yet to successfully sell Aria, though - I keep putting it up on eBay every once in a while, for less than the amount of money I put into it (~$300), and no one bites. Only thing not pictured is my set of 5 Mini Litho Characters, which I'm still not sure what to do with ...we'll see.

As far as DA:O, I missed out on a full sized Price of Power, and that never seems to show up on eBay, so I bought the Mini Bundle when the store still had it, and got both framed ...haven't hung them much, but they're two of my favorites. Around the same time, Sten's poster was on sale and low stock, so I figured I'd buy it and get a cheapo-frame for it. Despite not liking the in-game character at all, his cinematic appearance is pretty badass, imho.

Lastly, the Fallout Lithos/Giclees really caught my eye, but I unfortunately missed most of them. Caught the Monument, and framed that - turned out really nicely, I thought. I have since bought Epic Story and We'll Be There off eBay; Epic Story seemed to come from a guy like me, and I got it for only ~$85 which I thought was very reasonable. On the other hand, just recently managed to get the rare We'll Be There and had to shell out ~$185 ...didn't think much of the pricetag, especially since I got so much from a few I myself sold, but the guy was unfortunately (at the very least) an 'investor' - intentionally bought at least 2 in order to flip at least 1. So conflicted - I actually have proof (that requires me to reactivate my facebook account) that I replied to Amy's comment on this Facebook Album, suggesting an in-game picture of the eventual print they sold months later, and yet I missed it...and likely wouldn't have gotten it were it not for this guy flipping it... :/  Anywho, not sure when I'm going to frame them, but have plans for both.

That wraps up my Litho/Art life as far as THBS goes. Nothing else has particularly interested me, and aside from being an Elder Scrolls fan, their art hasn't been particularly motivating ...maybe because I never got into tESOnline.

Hope all is well with the rest of ya...

I also never got into TESO, so it's a bit unfortunate that it seems to be the basis for over 90% of their TES-related output.  But neither the game nor its art and stuff does anything for me.  I have the Oblivion Gate litho and a rather grumpy-looking guar plush, but I guess that'll be my lot.

I remember Amy making a point about the screenshot quality of some of the artwork, and some rather clumsy editing of the pictures they used, which suggested someone was in a rush to get the stuff to the printers.  Not sure whether the culprit was at EA, Bioware or Treehouse, though.  I just wished they'd held back before vomiting out a huge surge of uninspired concept art around the time of ME3: although I don't think it's literally done it, I feel like it's devalued all of my Bioware-related artwork.

I didn't realise We'll Be There was especially rare: it's a rare one for me these days both in terms of having felt like it was something I wanted to get and something that was actually framed and hung.  I wonder how much other stuff I felt "meh" about at the time I'll look back and wish I'd got... but even my enormous art folder is getting full, so there's a limit on how much more I can reasonably get anyway, and there's something not quite right about just hoarding artwork where it never gets viewed.

Lithos, haven't bought any or sold any of mine in a long time, just safely stored away. The DAI tarot cards giclees have caught my eye but I can't afford to buy them and some of the coolest ones have come and go.

On other news I got an Xbox One a couple months ago and re-bought DAI on it yesterday, I had previously bought it on the 360 which was a disaster of a port. It is absolutely beautiful on the Xbox1. Has anyone played the Jaws of Hakkon dlc? Its on sale for $10 but still not sure if I want to spend more on DAI.

Fallout 4!!!! Everything at E3 looked amazing surrounding it. I snagged a pre-order for the Pip Boy edition which has become very rare.

I found the POP vinyl Fallout line at Ebgames evenknown its not supposed to be out yet. Grabbed the female lone wanderer and found Grunt from ME aswell. Was so happy. I really want the Brotherhood of Steel one but I checked with 3 stores and their all sold out already. Ordered it online instead.

@Beo, cool lithos. You don't see anime lithos like that everyday.

Thanks Dan ^_^  I've honestly only found them at a few cons around here in the Artists Alley.  Generally, most anime producers and artists allow these at cons considering it as advertising, though only in the Artists Alley.  There's an awesome guy too that does wood burning art that I actually got to meet at the last con I went to.  I finally found him on DeviantArt and I'm considering asking him to do a piece for me.  He's amazing in his detail!  I bought a small piece from him for a friend at one of the cons but I didn't have the cash on me at the con to bid on the bigger piece.  http://obidesuka.deviantart.com  Even if you aren't interested in buying from him, I highly recommend just browsing his gallery.  I went back several years and found lots of stuff I wish I had managed to see in person.  So many beautiful pieces.  I think he asked over 300 dollars for the Attack on Titans large action scene wood burning he had at the con and he definitely had a bid for that much on it (https://www.dropbox....f=e&n=235803527 ). The one I got was a very small piece for ~$15.

I do have a PS4 now and a friend of mine gifted me a copy of DAI for my birthday.  I've not been especially interested in it.  Sadly I barely got through 2 hours.  It just didn't interest me.  ESO isn't so bad.  I end up turning off the chat channels as listening to people talk all the time in towns just irritates me.  That being said, sometimes it's absolutely hilarious.  I had the great moment yesterday listening to some poor guy get chewed out by his wife (at least, I'm assuming she was his wife) because someone stole her credit card info....again.....  She suspected his kid who kept saying it wasn't her, though the wife had just gotten the new card less than a week ago.  He kept....stupidly....saying she must have been "mistaken", which would just dial up her volume and her vocabulary.  Lol....five minutes of that I was shaking so hard with laughter and thinking perhaps he was going to be kicked out of the house when the poor guy realized everyone in town was listening to this ordeal and he ran out of town (he obviously hasn't figured out how to leave the chat channels yet lol).  I haven't looked at any art stores for any art....I'm definitely not into ESO that much at this point.

So Dan, what is that Xbox One like?  I obviously went with the PS4, really hoping for some Japanese RPGs to come my way.  Is the Xbox One worth it?  Did you get it with the Kinect?  Send me a review :)  I had a lot of issues with my network connection on the PS4 at first, due to using two routers for the location of my internet, but switching to manual seems to have fixed that entirely.  Switching to manual on my 360 did nothing to fix that issue on that =/

@Dman & Vom- I've still got all my lithos but they're all in a portfolio hanging out in the guest bedroom.  >_>  I'm not sure they'll ever make it out of that portfolio to be honest.  I honestly believe that the excessive outpouring of lithos also killed their appeal for me.  Whereas before I felt like I had something special, now it seems very cheap and mass produced.  Still, it's nice to look at in my portfolio.  Oh!  I don't remember if you guys remember the Alice store, but I got the Chesire Cat from there...then I looked up the artist later and bought a second, cooler, one signed and numbered from his personal website.  The one I got from his site is the one I framed and hung....and it's glow in the dark.  I love it when I turn off the lights and see the Chesire Cat glowing next to the TV =)  The one I got from the store is still in the tube it came in...  ~sighs~  I wonder sometimes now if any of the other artists from the EA stores have done similar things and resold drawings/designs/etc with a slightly different theme and we just didn't know about it.

The Xbox One is decent, I got one without the Kinect, no interest in it and don't have the space to use it properly. I'm rather dissapointed with the interface, its like they took the 360 stripped it down made it pretty then called it a day. You can't check your account, messaging anyone who isn't on your friend list is a total pain. Ive had to google how to do things because of it, its not as user friendly as they make it out to be. Maybe with voice commands its better.

Its cool that you can have multiple things open, like a computer you can minimize a game, then check the store or whatever and the game runs in the background. You can snap certain apps like mesaging to the side of your screen. I like the new controller, having rumble in the triggers is cool.

Its a bigger graphical jump then most made it out to be, mainly with lighting and particle effects. Destiny and DAI are examples I bought both on the 360 first and there is a very obvious difference.

If you like the 360, you'll like it obviously. Ive had no issues, aside from when playing the Master Chief collection but that game is known for multiplayer problems. It crashed and I had to turn the system off. I do need a better internet plan now, games and updates are atleast twice the size to download.

I'm very happy with it so far and theres tons of great games coming out.

I'd forgotten about the Alice store: I got that pack of really nice lithos and a couple of screenprints from there. But then I forgot about it and seem to have missed some cool stuff; and now it's no longer there. Oh well, I probably have more than enough games tat as it is (not that it'll stop me trying to obtain more of it!) Glowing artwork sounds kinda funky!

Fallout Art; it's all pretty rare to be honest - unlike most of the other games (Mass Effect obviously being a great example) they didn't release that many Fallout 3 Lithos/Giclees ...~6 total, all with runs less than 300. Given the huge fan-base, these all instantly sold, and only a few show up on eBay, usually 'overpriced'. As "We'll Be There" practically never shows up on eBay, I generally consider it the rarest ...but, with Fallout 4 just around the corner, I'm sure they'll 'fix' that...

Excess collections; I'm sure some of them are really nice, but if you don't have any plans or intentions to frame or hang them, I honestly wouldn't know why you'd want to hang on to them ...kinda my reasoning, anyways. *shrugs*

Alice Art; surprising to hear that an artist could go off on their own, selling their own creations of a copywritten theme. Personally, never got into the game, but the Chesire Cat piece sounds intriguing...

Consoles; the Xbox controller is certainly what I feel most 'at home' with - same kinda controller I use when gaming on my computer (though I generally prefer mouse/keyboard). Playstation - never played the earlier variants, and I've had access to a PS3 for a while now, but rarely play on it - using it for movies. However, I mysteriously got a PS4 about a year ago, but have only put ~5 hours into it total (Destiny, FIFA 15 ...meh). Absolutely loved my original Xbox, which I still have but never play ...bought a used X360 back in the day, but it only lasted ~30 seconds ...might pick up an X-BONE, but I'd honestly rather put the money into my computer ...while I pointedly have no motivation to play anything, atm. :/

@Dan - how's school goin?

@Beocat - still peddling drugs? :P

@Vometia - still love cheese? :o

@Ablazed - life story?!? - ready-set-go!

@Dan ~ the PS4 I had to get used to but honestly...it's become my hulu platform lol...  The apps for it are sparse, a handful really, sometimes I'm not entirely sure if it's uploading my trophies.  My ESO trophies definitely seem...missing...I guess I should check that two hours of DAI gameplay lol.  Though you can make and upload videos to youtube and facebook your gaming progress (who would ever want to do this?  It would be like game spamming your friends!), take screenshots and so forth, I've only managed to effectively take screenshots and not during anything actiony.  The settings/control panel setup is identical to the PS3 though one thing I do not like is that all your games you download seem to be stuck on the main action bar.  At this point, downloading all those free psn plus games, I have a ton of junk on that bar.  The controller feels right in my hands (I had to play Rorona on the PS3 to learn the controller) and I haven't had any adjustment issues with it.  I really enjoyed my 360 a lot, though the games for it really just stopped releasing towards the end of its lifespan (whereas the PS3 kept bringing over Japanese games).  I'd like to get an Xbox One maybe next year or in a few years and from your review it sounds a lot like my experience with the PS4, especially with the dashboard layout, so a few years might be the right time for sorting things out.  The game playing in the background is similar to the PS4.  I have gotten in the bad habit of not logging out of games now and I come back to find a thunderstorm knocked out the power.  Sometimes, good things can really trip you up!  :)  Honestly, your review has been much more positive than all the marines that I work with lol.  I think they were expecting Halo 5 or Call of Duty All Over Again and a better Assassins Creed game than they got and they're pretty depressed about buying early and trading in their 360 system and games for a system without games.  But then, the group I work with is rarely positive about anything.

@Vom - I was honestly surprised they made a store for Alice.  Then again, the artwork from that game has certainly made it's rounds.  Once, on one of the charters a year or two ago, I talked to a guy on the ride back in and we started talking about his tattoos.  The only gaming tattoo he had was the Chesire Cat, the same design of the cat that's in the game and on my giclees.  He wasn't much of a gamer, but he loved that particular image.

@Dman ~ The artist was the original artist of the image...he basically just put it on a glow in the dark background and made it even more intriguing and put it up for sale on his personal website.  Rhys Cooper.  I sometimes check out his site to see if anything new has popped up, but mostly, I just liked the Chesire Cat he did.

Of course, I'm still working as a pharmacist Dman.  Not much else I can do with my degree, licenses and certifications.  I'd go into being a drug rep if there were any opportunities in the area =P  I'd love to cross over to the dark side!

I think I'm also quite surprised that they made an Alice store, and I'm less surprised it's now disappeared; just a bit of a shame, because they had some quite cool stuff.  Tattoos are something I've always stayed away from, though if they were ever a thing, it'd probably be something from a game!

I'm never too sure about the art-hoarding thing: I keep a lot of it in case I fancy a change to the same old pictures I've had hanging up for ages, and do occasionally cycle through them, but I admit I'm holding on to a lot of stuff that I don't think is really very good.  That said, one of my favourite pictures is Korlus, which kinda shouldn't be as it's just a painting of a spaceship scrapyard, but it kinda works.

Where consoles are concerned, they continue to be a rather ambivalent subject for me going all the way back to the Atari 2600: part of me has always been jealous of the "it just works" ethos of consoles and the way that controllers are dedicated to just doing one job; but I remain a committed tinkerer and would never want to play the likes of TES and FO without the ability to tinker with everything in sight, whether using the command console for bugfixes and convenience or making a raft of mods and related changes.  I guess I also feel that although the keyboard and mouse combo is rather unergonomic and undesirable, for me there's that element of "it's the worst except for all the others".  So I'll look at the PS4 and Xbone the same as I've looked at all the others through the years and think "hmm, yeah, that could be cool", and then continue tinkering with and swearing at my PC.

And, yeah, I still love cheese: a bit too much as I'm trying to lose weight yet again having spent a lot of the last year with comfort-eating as a pastime!  You'd think it would be less urgent now that surgery is over and done with and weight requirements are no longer a thing, but I need something to fret about, it seems.

Oh, and when it comes to which doors our qualifications open, that's always a tough one!  I love my line of work, it's just the sort of people I usually have to work for that makes me wish I was doing something else.  But at 47 with no experience worth speaking of outside of computing, my options are limited.  Unless I went and bought a flock of goats and opened a cheesery.

Speak o' the devil - first Fallout 4 Litho:

art-litho-fo-garage-full.jpg

I like it quite a bit, and even noticed the email about it, yet missed it - out of 500, too. Saw that the # per customer has been increased to 3, so sent off some logical hopefully-not-too-scathing emails, one to THBS and another to the THBS/Bethesda helpdesk. As it's a pre-sale item, I'm hoping they'll cancel all the 3x orders, re-issue them as 2x orders, and sell the remainder as 1 per customer ...but I kinda doubt they'll go this 'extra mile'.

They also released a smaller unlimited variant, as they've become accustomed to doing, but it's practically a mini - very thin. Whatever happened to us admonishing them for releasing both a limited and an unlimited variant of the same piece? ...and whatever happened to 1-2 per customer?!?  ...kinda pissed off here.

Maybe wishful thinking, but I'm hoping the feeding-frenzies we'd often see when ME2 was in full-flow might be a thing of the past. It seems that the new games artwork is selling at a rather sane pace: not quite as quiet as the pre-ME2 days, but a lot less crazy than it was. That said, I've only been having a glance periodically.

Kinda grimacing at the bad memories of people at the front of a queue that was longer than the amount of artwork available blatantly doing the "one for me, one for Ebay" line and being very smug about it.

@Ds I'm on my 4 month intership, I passed the regular schooling. I'm working with a small amateur company with 2 other guys from my class as well, they took a few of us. Been at it for 2 months, its a joke for the most part. Their unprofessional and don't have a studio so we meet at a public library everyday. I say unprofessional in that the employee thats my boss comes in late everyday and doesn't even show up some days, he doesn't even text us sometimes to let us know anything. The top boss has really poor management skills, they leave us with nothing to do quite often as well which is a pain.

I am learning alot  atleast since were working on a html game, totally built for websites which we didn't cover heavily in school. I'm not expecting employment out of this. Some good some bad.

Hows life been for you?

I rather like the look of that new A-bomb-themed Fallout retrospective.  But I own the two most recent games in it already, and though I keep looking at FO1 & 2, they just look too retro.  I know that sort of talk is heresy in some circles, but retro for me is something I enjoyed (or not) when it was still cutting edge: I might remember it fondly but would rather not go back.  So it looks kinda tempting but pointless; fortunately the decision is made for me, as it only ships to the US.  That's a decision that sometimes annoys me but in this instance I'm relieved!

@Dan, the company in question sounds somewhat annoying: so often my enjoyment of any given job really seems to come down to how inept the management is.  Though I must admit my favourite role was when the manager resigned in a strop and they took a year to replace him.  That was our most productive and enjoyable year ever.  And then his replacement arrived... D:  Doubly irritating as I was offered the job but turned it down.  Though even in hindsight I'd still turn it down, I hate office politics.  At least you're getting something out of it though, which is good.  A lot of placements offer a lot less.

Not much news here.  Saw the surgeon the other day for a follow-up appointment, who was as amusing as ever, though I'm now slightly uncomfortable.  Again.  And it rained.  Severely.  And the bus didn't bother to turn up so I had a mile walk with my luggage and it pissed down the whole way: a month's worth just that day, apparently.

Vom ~ That's not odd at all.  Korlus has that brilliant blue that catches the eye.  In the right position among other art, I could actually see it working really well.  One of my favorites, which I have yet to frame, is the Collectors (at least my memory says that was the name.  I'm too tired to check right now).  It was dark and lent an air of mysteriousness.

Since we started talking about lithographs again, look what is in the bioware store now for presale...  www.biowarestore.com/art/lithographs/kaidan-lithograph.html  Ummm....too little, too late...for me.  Not to mention they ruined his character for me by the third one and the litho looks not much like him.  Maybe I'm judging it a bit harshly in a bitter manner and perspective lol....

@Dan ~ that is the story of 80% of my rotations!  And then the story of all the places I have ever worked.  It will never get better I fear. Still, a friend of mine works for some gaming company as a dev in California.  He can never tell me what game he's working on, but he seems to love his job.  Since it's a small company, you may be able to get some info on structuring an independent studio.  I don't know if it was covered in your education, but it might be something you'd want to do someday.  I had a boring basic rotation that my preceptor was kind of checked out on and thankfully, the assistant director took me under her wing and let me go to all the meetings, P&T, and taught me tons about hospital budgeting and funding, administrative work and so forth.  I was always interested in those sorts of things but somehow, our professor who was supposed to teach us about it, one of our former deans, instead droned on and on about his personal career and we never learned any of it at all in class, so getting to learn under her was the best rotation that I had.

So, started up the Witch and the Hundred Knight.  I like this game.  I knew I would, but it feels good to play a game like this again.

The statues are a hefty outlay.  I kinda like them, but as well as being expensive, they're also huge, and I already have more clutter than I know what to do with.  I quite like Irrational's statue of the Luteces, which is a bit more diminutive than the Bioware ones at just 12", but aside from finding the space, I don't have a spare £250.  Especially as I already spent £250 I don't have on a new graphics card.

The only statues that I spend that kind of cash on is First 4 Figures. Got Link on Epona, Midna and Wolf Link, and Vyse so far. I'm probably stopping there. Got no room for Vyse as it is lol.
