Who said anything about it needing to come from an asian inspired culture? It's a sickle, on a chain. It's not that hard, especially with how common farming equipment such as scythes were back in those ages for harvesting wheat. Have the crows use them as a previously unmentioned tool of exotic assassination. Or maybe tal-vashoth farmers fashioning weapons out of their previous equipment.

Gotta think outside the box for this stuff man, not just box yourself into this tiny little hole.

but the reason "ninjas" fashioned weapons from farm tools like that was because it was very difficult for them to get their hands on other weapons that could be successfully used against samurai. the unorthodox weapons actually became useful simply because the highly trained and disciplined samurai had no idea how to efficiently combat them. In thedas it seems as if everybody can get their hands on swords, daggers or bows.

Except farmers living in the qunari controlled areas, where freedom of profession is not practiced and a farmer with a weapon would be considered a heretic and forcibly reeducated. The people we encountered with weapons seem to be ex-military, defectors, mercenaries, criminal elements, religious warrior cult members, and trained fighters. The actual citizens didn't have the training, sometimes not even the money, to afford those weapons you're talking about. It's not like texas, where everybody's got a gun on them, as you seem to frame it in thedas. And the unorthodox use of a sickle chain against folks who have only trained to encounter and combat sword, shield, or bow proficient individuals would still be able to carry over.

I'm not saying let's have a katana, or a shuriken, or nunchaku's, or an Urumi. I;m just suggesting a weapon that's unique, for rogues mind you, that won't just be a rehashing of weapons in origins such as "Dual Wielding Swords" for every class.

I have seen no evidence of a subgroup of serfs that have decided to fight against the heavily armed knights and other like wise trained soldiers. bring me evidence of these groups first. given the fact that bows and daggers (or at least long knives) would be fairly commonplace among these farmers I don't quite see why they would need special weapons. They would even have axes to use, maybe a few hammers. The thing is we have yet to see any reason to believe a secret cult of ex-farmers would start training in secret how to use asian-inspired weapons. most european scythes were two-handed or at the very least much longer than the japanese hand scythes. if they would use any kind of easily improvised weapon it would be a flail, which were common farm tools in europe.

They're called the tal vashoth, perhaps you've heard of them? Big fellows with horns who defect from an oppressive regime which frowns upon individuality and employment choice and instead choose to love apart from it. Entire villages have been known to defect sometimes according to sten. Have to fight in order to remain independent and not be forcibly reeducated. Usually turn against the qun by turning to banditry and the like. Wouldn't have the same access to weapons other people of thedas take for granted.

Those guys, the ones not fortunate enough to have been soliders when they defected, would need to fashion their own weapons or get lucky enough to find some. That is where the potential for more exotic weapons come about, from a culture whose normal classes is highly ridged and whose soliders are train in highly uniform and strictly ways.

most of the people who defect from the qun and actively fight against it are the former soldiers though. The reason they fight the qun is mainly because fighting is all they know.  The few farmers and craftsmen that defect would have no knowledge of how to fight nor any real reason to. The Vashoth rarely clash with other qunari whereas the the Tal'Vashoth could find mercenary work or enter banditry as a means of getting money. Every single Tal'Vasoth we have seen in the games (I don't really pay a lot of attention to the books and comics) was either an ex-soldier or an ex-member of their secret police. there is no reason to believe that there are tal-vasoth ninjas running about with kusarigama. also the qunari aren't really influenced by east asian culture.

It would help alot with new weapons.

I myself have already made my choice for which race i want to play, a Qunari. Based upon what i have seen in DA 2, i would assume that using spears is something that is relevant for my Character, sinds in the Qunari society, it is normal, heck given the chance, i might even start a special task force that make use of spears, either short, long or throwing spears. Again because my character comes from a place where Spears is a common tool, i would take that idea and implant it to the inquisition i am building up.

I prefere polearms but i really havent seen in the game so spears will make do.

Flails is also a option and one i would love to see as well. Im sick and tired of the same trends about swords, axes and hammers, it is boring and really doesnt help me to make a person that can stand out. Learn from neverwinter nights and D&D, each weapon is a type of it's own regarding to feats and certain skills or class features. Hell, dynasty warriors is a great exampel of how to make the weapons feel useful and awesome. Ofcourse, they make use of a different engine and it is another genre of game.

Chain pull is blatant rip off from Mortal Combat and out there with hulk smashing gate breaker when it comes to reality. Couple of reasons not to jump to buy the game before gettting some feedback from other players.

I doubt its a Hookshot, its probably more like a weighted Chain for grappleing/tripping.
