Hmm I saw something different about the mabari, they didn't say we will or won't get one unless something changed, but they have said it won't be a companion.

It may or may not be in DAI, horses and mounts are npc's.
Funny how some people asked for a different pet and now it has been stated we might not get the Dog people complain about it, see what happends when people ask for something
A lot of people asked for a cat. We already know we're not getting a crow/raven (unless it comes in DLC). So it does make me wonder if we'll get a cat.
Or it could be that the horse has a personality and it's your animal companion. It might even be funny if we could summon it like the DLC dog in DA2. Whistle for your horse, it comes galloping in and tramples your enemies as it crosses the battlefield.
See, MY dog is still in Ferelden with my Warden, so I don't have any feelings one way or another about an animal companion for my Inquisitor. I could handle having a cat, especially if it just hung around the Keep and climbed on bookshelves like my real cat. Maybe the maid occasionally mutters something about cat hair being everywhere.
Having the Mabari with you during a conversation can be a great drinking game. We noticed the dog whined on certain words during dialogue. Whoever made the best sentence out it got the shot.
I don't need a mabari specifically, but I want a pet of some kind. Mounts will do if there's enough of interaction with them. I would love to get a wyvern!
As much as I love dogs, I'd rather we get a griffon instead. What does a dog get you? Used cake. What does a griffon get you when you ride into town on it? All the bitches.
I want a pet spider I'll name her Arachne.

I enjoyed the mabari in DAO and DA2, but I don't mind if we have a dog or not in DAI. Having a mount will be something new and different that BioWare has never included before, so I'll be perfectly happy with just that.

Been there, done that. I do agree it is awful odd that at level 40, there is actually a "fast" version of this mount, that exists. Like all mounts, though, it disappears when you stop riding it (don't ask where it goes), so it won't fight for you. Not even raptor mounts will fight for their riders, and raptors are normally quite a bit combative. But oh well.
BTW, it's interesting that people have asked for flying mounts in this and other threads, but nobody wants aquatic mounts.
Of course, so far, in DA games, we haven't even been able to set foot in water, let alone swim in it, so maybe that needs to happen first.

Seriously? The dog? I thought he was more useful as summon in DA2.
Oh well, if you REALLY want him that bad, okay.. but then i wish to replace him by a young dragon.

I don't, I'm tired of the same old mabari hound. I want something new. Something like a raven or hawk for scouting. Hell, a griffin would be nice too.
yes the dog was a fantastic anti mage/anti archer tank in DA:0...
it would be nice to have it back as opposed to the DA:2 version that was quite lame.

I want the Fennec Fox things. 
I'd rather not have the dog back, I always bothered by the fact the dog took up a place in the party, and even in DAII when it was a separated thing itself that I would forget because of how unmemorable it was. I do think animal companions or followers are kinda like, just meat fodder.
Since our character probably isn't going to be Fereldan it wouldn't make that much sense to have one. Unless you find a puppy.
