I want a dog strictly as a pet. No need to have it in combat; just something to come home to after a long day of killing monsters. Dogs and horses, can't beat 'em! I hope we can have both.
I want my dog back.

I'm not following the logic here. The Mabari Hounds were war hounds/dogs. They would be more likely in a war setting no matter how you feel. People are being to unrealistic and petty in not wanting a dog that appear in the game and it was used in war/combat scenarios.
Eh, I wouldn't say petty or unrealistic. The mabari were always just sort of a fun add-on. There are probably just as many in-game reasons why one might be around as reasons why one might not be.
I think of it as more akin to Sandal. A fun little recurring "extra" who the longtime fans would recognize.

I don't, I'm tired of the same old mabari hound. I want something new. Something like a raven or hawk for scouting. Hell, a griffin would be nice too.
Well, the pic of a Qunari Inquisitor they tweeted yesterday had a falcon of some sort on his arm ... perhaps you'll be lucky?

I'd settle for one I can interact with at Skyhold/home base/whatever its called now. The banter at Hawke's mansion with dog was pretty great, even if I couldn't bring my mabari along in battle.

Even my kid who doesn't even play the game herself was asking me about getting a Mabari in this game. She always was disappointed we couldn't get a black one.

Ditto. I want my mabari back! I love being able to summon it.

I would love to see the wardens dog with Alistair if he ever makes a camo ^^
If the Warden's dog isn't dead, I'll be highly surprised. I don't even know why Hawke's isn't. They've never given an answer on the Mabari lifespan, but it's been a really long time.

I'd like to see a mabari again too, preferably a black or red one since we've had the tan version twice now or better still the option to customise the colour.
Failing that I like the idea of hawk or falcon scouts and I really loved CybAnt1's panther idea... though maybe we could go tiger that would be really cool! ![]()

I want the dog back too. A proper one like in DA:O. Not that pokemon from DA2.

And we like our horses, but in general horses do not serve as combat pets.
my RL mare begs to differ.........

What was different, minus the fact the one from Origins took up a companion slot?

No matter what a player isn't forced to use the Mabari War Hound. Choice is what people are asking for.

And what if I want a different animal?

I wouldn't mind if the Inquisitor has an intelligent horse as an animal companion in this game. Would make for some funny dialogue in game.
I can just see the Inquisitor arguing with the horse about who gets to ride on the other's back and who gets to fight battles. lol

people act like having the dog/hound wasn't popular and take it too serious with fans wanting it back. Fans should have a choice of something that makes sense in a war atmosphere. A war hound/dog!
The problem with this logic is almost any animal "makes sense" in a war setting.
And wanting a different animal doesn't mean I take issue with people wanting the dog back.

I wouldn't want him to take up a companion slot, but I like the idea of having a pet or certain classes being able to summon a Mabari in combat. A pet we could summon in combat would be the best of both worlds, in my opinion.
