I have no Idea...Probably a tank a healer a and a lockpicker, this combination works for me no matter what class I choose.

I usually try out every single companion and party combination in the game so I don't expect to have a permanent party, the only character I tend to bring along the most ,is usually my pc's LI.

I really don't have a set group yet. For right now, Cass, Varric and Vivienne. Maybe Sera and the Iron Bull.

Sword and Shield Male Human Inquisitor

Varric likely to be kicked back into the bar once another rogue is available.  Plus I don't need somebody referencing my Inquisitor with Hawke.

Cassandra I'll likely let stick around, so I have somebody who was actually a seeker, plus it seems like she might be useful for helping convince some of the templars that followed Lambert but didn't go full on Red Templar afterwards into standing down.

Vivviene likely to be kicked out for another mage as go back to the previous circle system is against my Inquisitor's agenda.

I do, they said that there is no regenerating health. However, I cannot recall if  that works for mana or stamina, I may have to re-watch the video just to look at mana and stamina. Therefore, anyone that can heal, fight at range, etc will be less costly. I don't want to worry about funding my inquisition on my first play through. My likely party is 3 ranged and a tank.

Just thought of it but hunting creatures for meat etc may provide silver for trade, if so the natural world will be worse off if coin is hard to gain.

I don't think Cassandra will ever leave my party. I usually play a ranged rogue so I always take a tank with me, and I'm a really big fan of her. She will also probably be my first Inquisitors LI (assuming she's available) so yeah, I'm looking forward to dragging her everywhere with me.

As for the others... I'm not sure. I'll probably alternate a bit, though since Varric is a ranged rogue like my Inquisitor I probably won't bring him around much again. I also feel that I know a lot about his character already and would prefer to learn more about the new party members by bringing them along.

When I choose party, I don't care about their stats, classes, or overall party balance even when I'm playing on the hardest difficulty.
I only choose members based on my preference personality and character wise.

DAO, for example, I pretty much finished the whole game with just Alistair, Leliana, and Morrigan 'cause they were the most hilarious and well-made characters.
I don't know anything about DA:I's companions except for Varric and Cassandra, but I probably will include Varric for sure.

I always rotate my party around a fair bit, but if I was going to pick three and stick with them, it probably wouldn't be Varric, Cassandra and Vivienne.

Hmm for my first playthrough I'll more than likely end up rotating most of the people out but I definitely will try to keep Varric/Vivienne in at all times. So the third slot goes to whoever tickles my fancy at the time.

For my most interesting playthrough it will more than likely be my Male Qunari Mage, Iron Bull (assuming he's a companion, which I hope he is.), Varric and the Elven Mage. Just imagining two qunari, a dwarf and an elf walking up to a random human noble makes me crack the biggest grin.

It depends on their final personalities, my inquisitor and which companions are the romancable ones, but for now:

Male Qunari Rogue:

  • Vivienne (she's absolutely beautiful, hopefully an LI + I like that she's Pro-Circle and has experience with the Nobility of Orlais and the empereal court - my Qunquisitor could use someone like that)
  • Iron Bull or Cassandra (I'll probably switch between these two, depending on the Situation... if either of them is romancable I'll probably use that one a little less so I have more to discover when doing the romance playthrough)
  • uhm.... I don't know yet, maybe Varric or Sera, but that bearded warden dude seems cool as well... ^^'

Female Dwarf Warrior:

  • Probably Baldy the elf cause I'm planning on using Vivienne as the mage in my Qunari's party
  • Bearded Warden or Sera or Cassandra
  • Varric

I'll probably mix al of these up throughout the game but these are the Combos that I plan on using the most for the moment. ; D

I don't mind. I like to change it up and use them all. It depends on the quest usually so I'll likely play this way in Inquisition too.

- Varric or Blonde Elf as a Rogue

- Cassandra

- Iron Bull or one of the unannounced mages

I'll probably end up swapping some members from time to time.

I haven't decided yet, but I hope I don't have to use Cullen at all.

I usually play healer myself. I should mention that I pick companions based on personality.

Love to switch things up, especially on the first couple play throughs. With the exception of my first time playing DAO (where I had no idea what I was doing, and played poorly  ), I don't have a dedicated healer. In fact, it isn't uncommon for me to play often with an all melee party (mix of rogues and warriors). One of my favorite parties in DAO was Alistair, Zevran and Shale (my Warden as backstabbing CUN Rogue).

Eventually, I will have a companion or two that I use most often, but I always try out everyone, and switch when it fits best with the story. ;)

The healer mage since I refuse to make my player character that.  Not that I hate the class type but I just find it boring to play personally is all.  And then whichever warrior is a better tank.

Well, if possible, I won't be taking Cassandra with me if she sounds the same as in DAII. Her voice accent/manner of speaking annoyed me and I skipped through her cutscenes every time after the first time. So yeah. But I will stick to the tank/healer/2dps party set-up at least for the first time playing. On following playthroughs I usually take whoever makes up for the most fun banter and comments in certain quests. So Varric, at least, will be taken along on later playthroughs.

But in any case all of them will have a go. Even in the first playthrough since I do want to find out who they are. Except for Cassandra maybe, she can just stay quiet.

Whichever three are bringing the most sexy back  ;)

I usually end up using everyone throughout all my various playthroughs though. That way I get to experience all the banter and switch to whoever best compliments the class I am playing. Unless there is someone I really hate, or I always get them so late in the game that I never really use them (like Oghren).

Since my main char will be tank-warrior, it will be the rogue, the damage mage and the healer.

Anyone but Cassandra and Cullen (if Cullen actually ends up becoming a companion)

I have a rather odd way of doing things. I change the companions for every mission. One mission I take all the guys and then next mission all the girls.

Cassandra seems like the #1 selection for me, as were Alistair and Aveline previously. I rarely play as a tank so they always get the nod. Varric is tough to pass on as well. He had the best dialogue in DA2 and I'd expect no less in DAI. Mages always get rotated through, for me anyway. Exception to that was Morrigan.

I have no idea until we actually meet all the companions and experience what their personalities are like. Eventually, I will take all of them over multiple playthroughs, but I know I will have my favorites, as I always do.

Can't wait! :D
