It seems that either to low a level (15) or just not powerful enough to kill off the Boss and his Hench men. Which means that I have to repeat over and over this quest with the same results, which is insanity. I cannot leave the quest until it is completed. This sounds like catch 22.
So what happens now.. do I just quit and look for a new game that I can do? Or is their some-one who can wave a magic wand and fix this for me. 
Put the difficulty level on easy (casual)?, play through that part and change it back later.

Who's in your party? Are you fighting the Arishok?
Is this the final battle with Meredith? You should be at least level 20-21. My mage was level 21 and I had no trouble.
Put the difficulty level on easy (casual)?, play through that part and change it back later.

Plus, once you get through this fight, start saving in different slots so you can go back to a previous save if you run into trouble.
Put Fenris in your team and you'll have the option to duel the Boss one on one. Winning will send you through. Good luck!!
If this is the battle with the Arishock, it was easier and a lot more enjoyable to fight all of them; not the duel, IMO.

Something similar happened in my first playthrough. If you're a rogue, use the backslash ability (the one where you teleport behind him - I forget the skill's name) as often as possible. The rest of the time, run away from him and use your stun ability (the one where you throw that glass thing. I never played much of DA2, so I don't have the ability names memorized.) Just do this evasive technique until you eventually kill him.
If you're a mage, use your ice abilities. They're your best friend. Run away when you're on cooldown and turn and face him whenever your abilities are ready.

If it's the Arishok the Qunari hate the cold. Stock up on cold weapons or ice spells. If I'm fighting him one-on-one, then I chip away. Smack him a few times then get some distance to either health or stamina up and back to it.
I hate it when he gets you stuck on the end of his axe thing.
