As a group owner, I could edit and remove topics, hide posts and such, but after I had a troublesome encounter with the ranking and promotion system after trying to add new ones and made the mistake of deleting some old, (I don't think highlighting the options you want and letting those you don't want to anything with be isn't the way to do it) I couldn't edit anything regarding the topics or posts anymore.
I think I accidentally and possibly through some bug changed my own rank, but I'm still assigned as group leader, which I think should be enough to let me edit topics as I see fit and I can't edit my own rank, so I'm pretty much stuck.
Also, now I can't transfer the ownership to anyone else in the group.

I'm stuck here too! I must've screwed something up when I was editing ranks. I know this is an old topic, but I'm hoping someone can help me out!
I used to have a moderator CP bar and was able to edit thread titles, but at some point that disappeared without my notice. But some of the people I appointed as group moderators still have their permissions.
I'm really confused as to how I messed things up, since my group still recognizes me as an owner.

The Admin/Mod CPs for groups are very buggy, particularly the menus associated with Ranks and Privileges.
Hopefully they'll fix the bugs as time goes by, but it sounds like you both are experiencing a variation of what happened in a couple of groups that I'm a mod in.
When editing the CP, particularly the Ranks, they can spontaneously gain and lose privileges. In all likelihood, neither of you actually made any mistakes, the ranks changed without your direct input. If that wasn't complicated enough, the changes will not be reflected in that rank's settings. If you go and look at which privileges are checked, the ranks will appear to still have the correct settings even when they don't.
We managed to use workarounds both times that it happened to us, but in our case, the leadership ranks were never affected, so it wasn't an issue. I don't know how easy it will be to find a solution when the leadership rank is the one effected, but I will offer suggestions, and would be very interested in hearing back from both of you as to what did or didn't work.
Here's the best advice I can give, based on what I know:
- The settings don't change unless the CP is being edited, and I'm relatively sure it's tinkering with the actual ranks that causes the problem (but I'm not certain.) In any case, when you do have the ranks and privileges working the way you want to, don't change any settings, just to be safe. If you try some of these suggestions, and they work, avoid making any further changes once things are the way you want, as you risk the rank settings changing on their own again.
- Create mirror ranks for all the ones that aren't working the way you want them to. Make sure the new ranks have all the settings correctly chosen. In our case, we had to re-create our default member ranks and settings, so we duplicated them and made sure the new ones had all the right settings, then switched the CP to default members to the new ranks. In your case, you would do this with the leadership rank. I don't know if it will work, but create a second leadership rank, and then manually change the leader to the new rank, making sure all the settings are correct before you switch.
- We didn't delete the previous ranks, but I've forgotten why. I think it created some kind of problem, or it wouldn't let us. If that is the case for you, just make sure the ranks with the incorrect settings don't apply to any members.
- Remember, you will not be able to see if the settings are correct, because they will appear normal. You will have to log in and test the new ranks manually. In our case, we had to create an alt to log in with different ranks and test that all the settings were working correctly.
It may be time-consuming, but hopefully you can work around the existing bugs with the admin CP until they figure out a way to find what's wrong with them.

I've just gotten a big red error message for everything I've tried.

There's not much else that I can think of:
- Try going in through both "Ranks" and "Manage Members" If you get errors when trying to access or change those settings, take screenshots of the errors, if you can (but I wouldn't post them in here, just to have them if a BioWare employee asks to see them.)
- Have the member with the highest privileges other than the leader try and create the mirror ranks. If there isn't anyone else with the administrative permissions to make the changes, this won't work.
- The last option is to have a BioWare employee go in and manually change the settings on your behalf, which I suspect they have some way of doing.

So, I'm thinking at this point, I need mod behind the scenes help.
I followed Jeremiah's advice with mirroring the ranks and going through the settings, which worked perfectly for the rest of my team. They can edit things on behalf of me, but I still have no mod permissions.
I can access the group CP, edit the ranks and main page, but I can't fix any of the threads.
If a mod could look into this I'd be super grateful.

Since last posting in this thread, I still have no powers over threads in my group, unlocking or moving a thread is not in my capabilities.
If a mod could look into this for me, I would be very grateful.
