I have arms like that, but I'm a 100-pound weakling and nobody expects me to save them from reapers.

I used to have arms like that too in my teens, before I started martial arts and lifting. A couple of years ago, that is  I went swimming three times a week, did a lot of walking and didn't eat much. I got tired easily, couldn't do a single pullup, only did pushups on my knees and the first time I punched my boyfriend in the pecs (I don't even remember why) I hurt myself. That's why seeing Shepard running around in heavy armor, carrying heavy guns, pulling herself up from cliffs and punching armored enemies makes me cringe. I've put on over 30lbs over the last two years and the change in strength and endurance has made me realize how unrealistic women's size in the media is. Technique alone can only get you so far. There's nothing wrong with Shepard being pear-shaped, but she has stick arms and no muscle definition whatsoever. You can be pear-shaped, have a good amount of body fat and be strong and fit too. That isn't how Shepard looks in ME3 though.

Exactly. I don't know about others but my Shep sure as hell would never wear this ridiculous underwear, even if her life depended on it. She's more of a sport's woman.

And perhaps what is worse is that stuff did not look 'sexy' to me at all.  It was actually a bit of an eyesore and a bit repulsive to me.  Either wear nothing at all or keep it nice and solid please. :/

Going to sidetrack a moment, cause it seemed to fit the theme.   Malificent was an awesome movie.  I really supported her, and wanted the best for her.  A strong female lead, and was really good.  :)  I hope it makes big. I would share more if I could, but definitely suggest this movie.

It's the combination that does it for me.  Either she should be lean all over, and have more of a runner's body with a flatter chest and butt, or she should have more bulk all over, with thicker arms and shoulders.

I cannot sing this movie's praises enough.  Powerful ladies.  Powerful lady relationships.  Ladies with complex characterizations and motivations and development.  This.  This is what we need more of in media.

All lies.

No, but really, I know there are lots of reasons why people might like or dislike a movie, but for people looking specifically for something featuring a well-written female lead, a mostly-female cast, and female relationships, all in a fantasy setting?  It's worth at least giving it a shot.

And this also relates to DA, because watching a woman walking around with horns for the whole movie gets me even more excited for qunari ladies.

It also works for Vivienne, with her hats.  Right?  RIGHT?

Even runners have a bit of muscle definition though, Shep has none. But yeah, a leaner build would be great for adepts and sentinels.

I'll wait until it is on TV. I heard Angelina Jolie was awesome as Malificent, but that's really the only universally good thing I've heard.

Fun fact, did you know that the one of the producers wanted to use the outfit to assent Angelina's physical appearance, but she refused and said she wanted the costume to be as close to the original as possible?

Yeah this is one movie I'm definitely going to see despite the American critics' lukewarm reviews. Apparently nearly all of the important roles in the film are filled by women. WOW. I am seeing it for the novelty factor at the very least!!!

While that's lovely and all I absolutely refuse to see this movie.

Maleficent is one of the most iconic villains of all time. Making her into a sympathetic figure is an assassination to her character. She's the Mistress of all Evil! She tried to murder a baby because she didn't get invited to a party. Turning her into a Woobie Destroyer of Worlds is just stupid. I've noticed that with a lot of female villains actually.

It's like what just because I'm a woman I can't be evil on my own without some man screwing me over? I'll have you know I burned and pillaged that village of my own accord. Not because my ex sawed my wings off.

Don't be narcissistic. That's less "because womyn" and more because of the preconception that audiences can't handle a villainous character being the protagonist of a film unless they're "sympathetic".

It's really not fair. I think that anyone has the potential to be a great lead, hero or villain. It's all about how you do it. You can make a villain sympathetic by making them engaging and making the audience bond with them in some way. You don't have to turn them into an anti-hero to do that is all I'm saying.

I'm just tired of the Wicked formula.

I can't think of many examples. Scarface.. Al Pacino comes to mind. He was an outright bastard of the highest order. Funny choice for a protagonist. I can't think of a female one though.

I don't think it is either, I was just saying it was done for different reasons than you stated. Also I'm pretty sure these onslaught of live action Disney films is just to try and put a final screw you to future filmakers because these stories go back to the public domain soon.

I'd suggest you refrain from putting words in my mouth.

Everyone who does gymnastics has at least some muscles on them (and even adepts or infiltrators exercise as well, don't you think?) Shepard didn't had any trace of muscles on her. She literally had the body fit for a model, not for someone who fights every day. :)

I didn't mean you said that specifically, just that it's the same type of thing.

Are you sure Shepard did gymnastics?

Yes I don't see why soldiers having magic powers or can turn invisible would have a different physique from ones who can't.

I don't think she "literally had the body fit for a model" unless you didn't mean fashion models (who don't usually have "big breasts and ass" either)

I'm not a fan of her look (I'm pear shaped myself). But she really isn't that skinny, she just has really weird forearms, which I would attribute to bad modelling. I know plenty of boxers skinnier than her. Sure she probably should be more defined, but Anderson did say Shep has gotten soft.

You know who was skinny though?

Me1 maleshep. Her legs are probably twice his size.

HOLY CRAP

By 2100, we'll have evolved into crotchless-less Barbie & Ken dolls that breed solely through cloning.

That explains why all the human men and women have identical body types, AND why female Shepard exhibits proficiency as a soldier despite having no musculature to speak of.

It's all genetic engineering.

ME1 Shep must've been completely based on Mark Vanderloo (his face model). He's that skinny too.

Or maybe I'm missing something.

Well, there's more.

Anne Bonny, Mary Read. Bonnie Parker, of Bonnie and Clyde.

I only brought up this specific woman because I heard of her recently myself.

I know all of them at least. They all sound cool to me. lol. I guess I can't help but romanticize 17th century criminals (or in Bonnies' case, a romantic criminal from the 20th). Maybe they were just as bad as Scarface, but the image we have now is likable.
