That was something really weird about ME1, the big awesome scars were restricted to male only and females got like a little nick across the chin or cheek so it wouldn't "mar her beauty" I'm like screw you, I can decide if I want to make her a pretty pretty princess or a rugged, battle scarred warrior on my own, I don't need you arbitrarily restricting me BW.

Yeah, I got so annoyed when I did my second playthrough as a male and saw how many huge, awesome scars there were.  You can't even tell where half the scars in the female options are.

I never used the scars myself but have noticed when flipping through to just view them. They are more predominant on the male.

Its not an excuse for anything but, maybe the women are better fighters due to less scarring?

You know that's not the designer's motivation though. They think "men should be tough and women should be pretty."

Yes, sadly true. Was just trying to help maybe lighten up some. Try to make a negative a positive though its intentions were pretty clear when setting that up.

At least there were the Renegade scares in ME2? Sadly they didn't seem to carry over to ME3 without modding...I missed my Shepard's glowing red eyes....

Oh oh speaking of eyes that reminds me! I want eyepatches so bad.

You don't know that that was their motivation either though. Just saying.

Yeah, and O.J. might have been innocent...

Really? You're comparing a game design choice that has no evidence to a murder case that had evidence? I thought you were against making ridiculous comparisons.

The ME2 scars are from the Lazarus Project, specifically your body reacting against the cybernetics inside you. You were "nothing but meat and tubes" after you being blown into space.

I'm saying it's super obvious that was their thinking. The chance of the motivation behind femshep getting only small, non disfiguring scars while manshep can choose either small or having his face cleaved in half with a chainsaw type scars being anything other than "woman pretty, man tough" is so small it's laughable.

Really, cause I never thought they were thinking that at all, so it isn't as "super obvious" as you imply. And one of her scars was across her face from one cheek to the other over the nose, so they weren't all small, non disfiguring scars.

Makes me wonder what on earth another possible explanation could be?  "Um it's.. more difficult.. with scars and fem... I mean.. RESOURCES!"

The two or three big, gnarly, disfiguring scars are for manshep only, the biggest one femshep gets is like a fashionable anime/jrpg type scar. Tell me what YOU think their reasoning was behind this?

They gave women different scars so that people wouldn't complain that "Why you no give female players unique content Bioware? You're sexist!"

So really only the first sentence changed.  <_<

Hah, this reminds of the magnificent seven (one of my dad's fav movies) where the two farmers have got Yule Brenner to help and are in the salon with him looking for hired hands and one of them sees a guy with massive scars and says we need him. The other farmer says "No, we need the man who gave him the scars". Now I'm aware Nefla is right but damn it would be nice if that were the motivation for less impactful scars for fem shep cause yeah better fighter! :)

Sadly it's still about stereotypes. So on the up side eye patches, scars, makeup, more tattoos yes please :D  available to both genders equally... and a really nice green tattoo colour would be nice too now I think about tattoos, I used a mod for vibrant greens in DAO cause there was only one pale apple green option so more colours too like bright pinks and blues for girls and boys alike. :P

Riiight...I'm sure everyone would call bioware sexist for not restricting female players...that's like saying "here we wanted women to have unique content so we made you this battle bikini. That way you don't have to wear ugly manly armor like the men." BioWare saved us poor women from accidentally making our femsheps be less beautiful and have ugly, manly scars. Thanks!

I prefer them putting extra effort and resources by making different scars than them literally copy and pasting. The latter seems to have a "Huh, yeah fine whatever. Here you go." disconnected feel to it.

That's a great quote.

I would love to have a variety of eyepatches so baaaadly. They seem to be missing from just about every game where you can create a character. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a selection of eyepatches to choose from? Like I'd want a big old tough looking one for battle and then one that was a bit more smaller and comfortable for lounge wear and a bedazzled one for parties! Eeep!

Also also I want different types of eyeliner! Oh and did you see the Qunari models (it was only male Qunari so far) where they showed off some of the new face paint? It was really lovely.

Yes face paint would be great too! I really like the idea of being able to make my characters more interesting and individual with as many options as possible! Hey does Iron Bull have an eye patch sometimes, ever or just the scars? Because if he had an eye patch that's proof it can be done yes?   Oh well a girl can dream at least  :D  And that is a really cool eye patch for the ball  B)  Now I wonder if we'll have mask choices for the ball as well? So many things to wonder about and now I hope part of the E3 reveal is the Character Creator again (along with lady inquisitor of course).  ;)

I want masks!!

I hope we're not getting our hopes up too high regarding this masked ball... I wouldn't be surprised if in the end it turned out to be a comparatively lackluster affair. :P

Well it is stated in their own words..."get dancing shoes". I would be surprised and dismayed if that isnt going to happen. Id keep a save to do the dance again later. :D

If Bull does have eyepatch, maybe it is possible. It would be nice. Especially for Rivani pirates are we. Yo ho and a bottle of rum! Oops stereotyped the pirates there. ;)

But, if women have titanium faces, thatd be both good for them and bad for others. :)

You said what!? *headbutt with titanium face*

If I have an eyepatch I want one like this:

Just a strap of cloth, maybe pulled over at a more extreme angle.
