I love her bangs! One of the first things I noticed. Eee! Me like!
How could you like that hairstyle? I just... I can't understand that. Every time I see it I have an urge to drag Sera to a stylist.

Not saying I'd like it on me or anything but I like it on her!
I like that it looks different. And that it gives off a dirtier, more rugged feel. Aaand to be honest it makes me think fondly of my father who once cut my bangs in a very similar fashion.
His... heart was in the right place. ![]()
So teasers of lady inquisitor and companions and a Cameron Lee interview about dragon combat being shown at E3? It's starting to look like a good bit of info coming our way I just hope they deliver... and if it's lady inquisitor used for the dragon fight that would be seriously epic! ![]()
Not sure it's likely but it would be cool!
I hope we get to hear and see lady inquisitor though for now I'm trying to keep positive thoughts and hopes at the same time as keeping my expectations low so as not to be too disappointed if it doesn't happen...
talk about a balancing act! ![]()

It looks to me like she got sick of her hair flopping over her face and ruining her shot, and just went "Screw it!" and grabbed her dagger and cut it off in a fit of frustration.
So, impulsive, not particularly vain and gets things done ... cool!

I don't think anyone likes it in the sense they want to rock the hairstyle themselves.
The appeal is that it gives her character.

I'm more bothered by the quality of the hair. It looks like DA2's hair after I downloaded a mod to make it more shiny.

The hair in the Sera thread is drawing a lot of heat too. I put it down to being a cross gen game. Here is an example from MLB14.

And another from Tomb Raider.

I know it isn't Lady Inquisitor, but since this place has gone more "Female in Video Games" then I think this fits.
Nice picture of her, im still not keen on the heavy eyeliner though, looks abit out of place.
At least the armour looks like it might be useful in stopping an arrow, and if it's leather it's not going to smash her rib cage if she falls forward.
It looks like she's wearing a corset, which makes the shape of the boob cups make a little more sense.
I realize that I should have pointed out that as an archer, you'd want to make your chest more flat, not make it stand out more. Modern archers use chest protectors that flatten the breast closest the to string. When I practiced kyuudou (Japanese archery), they made me wear a leather protector that covered my whole chest. This is to avoid the string getting stuck in your clothes as well as protect the breast from getting hit by the string (apparently very painful). Sera's leather upper armour (thankfully lacking of boob window) would protect her breasts even if they get hit, but not having to risk hitting them at all would be a better deal imo.
That armour won't stop an arrow, very few armours will even plate if hit head on although the arrow will more likely not penetrate to a fatal depth.
She looks flattened so I'd guess its a sort of half breast plate to make archery easier.

True about her armour not being made to stop arrows. I think it's solely to stop knives. But I just can't agree that she looks flattened. If anything, I think her armour makes her breast stand out more, with leather seams that the string could catch on if she's unlucky or doesn't pay attention (like in the middle of a desperate firefight...).

It could be the angle and lighting, but the way I'm seeing it is everything is being pushed down by the neck piece. If that is all one piece , then the effect would be similar to a breast plate but still keeping the shape.
What do you make of the white stripe ? I took it as bone reinforcement, but it seems that would make sitting down difficult.

I chalk it up to hair being Bioware's nemesis. Bioware avoids longer hair like the plague and even short hair can look rather bad, no matter the game, no matter the technology available. Maybe they want to avoid taxing consoles or computers or maybe it is a matter of clipping. I must say I much rather have some clipping than only short haired or bald companions/player characters.

Well, no matter whether her chest is pushed down or not, I like the upper part of the neck piece. No boob window allowing people to strike at one the most vulnerable parts of her torso = great.
I took the white stripe to be some kind of linnen or leather (sheepskin perhaps?). It's the same colour as the lining on the shoulders and her left, shorter sleeve. Having a bit of reinforcement might be good, but as you pointed out, it's a bit too low for her to sit down comfortably, which would be odd seeing as the rest of the armour seems to be very easy to move around in.

That's a really good point. The corset (or corset-like thing) is definitely pushing her boobs up and separating them, making them more distinct instead of less.

I like what it says about her. That she chopped it herself using the nearest dagger. She probably wouldn't have anything to do with a stylist. And frankly, it's nice to see a female character not looking like a beauty queen when it doesn't suit her to have perfect hair and makeup. Now, I do hope this doesn't indicate that we'll get five more bowl cut-type bang options, because DA really needs to let those go.
The eyeshadow I'm a bit put off by, because she looks like Avril Lavigne. But again, I could see her just grabbing some kohl and smearing it haphazardly around her eyes.

Don't think a person unconcerned with appearance would put effort in such glam makeup. But then DA has always been pretty horrible in that regard...I love Sera's look. It distinctly shows her as a person, as a character. It shows her as a distinct person, who is unconcerned about her appearance, and whose character design tells a story other than "I'm here to look pretty".

But to me she looks very put together. Her outfit has a consistent theme and most certainly doesn't look slapped together. She's wearing make-up like you say. So to me she doesn't look like someone who's not trying to look like a beauty queen. To me she looks like someone trying to look good with bad taste in hair.
I think her pants clash horribly with her top. Dark red with lime green? The horror! I'm looking at her ripped up top and I think that maybe this is a person who could have had access to nice clothes--either because she stole them or because she was once in a higher place in life--but chooses not to maintain them.
It is makeup, but not the pretty, conventional makeup that we've seen so far. Even Aveline wore makeup, when I never thought that suited her very much. So if they must put her in makeup, at least it's something that seems to give some indication of her personality.
But I'm just speculating. I get what you're saying. So far, Sera is the female companion I am least taken with.
Nice picture of her, im still not keen on the heavy eyeliner though, looks abit out of place.
Also the nose as well. It has a DA II lingering feel.
Lol all. the. complaining!
Ah well I guess I had initially complained my face off against Solas until BSN people's amazing fanart totally enticed me to the dark side. ![]()
Ive never really complained about Solas but id like him more if he didn't remind me of this guy so much:

There's no boob window, but the exposed shoulders wouldn't be any better. There are lots of vital arteries and veins in the shoulders, so contrary to what TV shows tell you, being shot through the shoulder (or stabbed, or having an arm sliced off) has a good chance of being fatal.
I'm disliking the boob armor and the shoulder cutouts. Neither are practical for combat. Boob armor would direct blades toward the center, so while you might not break your collarbone wearing leather, you'd risk getting a sword through it instead, or a dagger. And the shoulder cutouts... well, again, what I just said.

Hmmm. I guess the devs are pretty obsessed with the idea that women must look strong YET SEXY (and blobs of fat designed for milk for some reason equate to "sexy").
Though it doesn't really bother me in this instance because at least Cassandra doesn't (from what we've seen) have boob armor. If they give us some variety then I'm happy.
I wonder if the female Inquisitor will have the option to wear non-boobie armor.
