I guess they felt it was too neat for a frontline fighter. I like her new face it to me looks like someone who fights on the frontline, takes some hits but gets back up and kicks ass. *shrug*
this is a fantasy game, if I can bang on someone in full armor with a sword with no ill-effects make-up can stay on in combat, also I don't see why making her have a stronger jawline, wider cheeks, etc... really makes her look more frontline, makes her look worse simply IMO

I think she looks much better, however, so it's one of those things that certain looks appeal to people differently.

Really? Even when said person is not a mage and therefore shouldn't be able to manipulate the fade whatsoever? And even if said person was responsible should be strong enough to easily kill her? Why would s/he be there alone? Wouldn't he/she be prepared for said explosion and not be wandering around in a daze?

Veil Tears aren't just caused by mages. Lots of bloodshed can do it too, and you are standing among thousands of dead.

You're not killing that many people at one time alone with such lack of defense (completely wiped out with no survivors?) without magic or a bomb.
Everyone there wasn't helpless civilians.
Look this started because of my belief that Cassandra isn't flawless. If she is flawless she's a sue. I'm pretty sure we don't want a sue companion they're not as interesting.

Varric calls Cassandra out on her jumping to conclusions several times over the course of DA2.

I like her flaws. What I don't like is that Gaider feeds off of fan tears. Not sure about romancing her. It'd just end up like Alistair/Morrigan/Anders.

Honestly I like the strict by the books characters cause it's fun to troll the heck out of them. I'm assuming we can play snarkathon Quizzy though. Watching them get more and more annoyed is always hilarious.
