So to bring this thread further back on to topic, our female Inquisitor will join a host of other female leaders in the DA series. The Divine, Meredith, Queen Anora, Empress Celene. I find it brilliant, and very intriguing that Thedas has so many women in power. In a sense, it probably is about an equal number to the men, but it feels like a large amount because it's so unusual. What kind of leader will your female inquisitor be? Do you think there will be any difference in reaction to a female vs a male inquisitor in ambient dialogue?
I personally hope we don't get a lot of "wait, a woman in charge??" reactions the way we kept getting comments about the Wardens letting women join in Origins. Since, like you said, it is so common to have women in power in Thedas, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing different reactions from specific groups, like qun-following qunari, since it is part of their particular culture. In fact, I really hope we get to see more about the roles of female qunari--the artisans and merchants we've heard so much about but never seen.
One thing that makes me so excited about the amount of women in power is that we might get to see more than one powerful woman in the same room (especially with a female Inquisitor, of course). One thing that's been annoying me about Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire is how there may be all these interesting, dynamic female characters, but they're all completely isolated from each other, and rarely get to interact with other women at all. It's the same for most stories--you'll get that one female fighter or one female queen, but they're still surrounded by men. I'm excited to see multiple women talking strategy and politics and world affairs.
On that note, how do you guys see the interactions with the female companions working out? We discussed way back in the thread the fear that Cassandra and Vivienne won't get along, but recently the website confirmed that they will. So that leaves Sera. How do you think two upper-class lawful characters will react to the low-brow wildcard?
