Do you think they'll have a variety of skin tones for the qunari?? Because so far they all have been grayish in tone (aside from that fanart yellow *shudders*)
Some qunari, like Sten, have bronze/copper skin. I guess that was what the author of the fanart was aiming for. Some of the old concept art shows qunari with different shades of grey (pun not intended), from purplish white to purplish black. My guess is that they will be more varied this time around, instead of depending on a single model.
I've never seen a character creator with afro textured curls like mine, or an approximation of my skin tone, so no, and not by choice.
Between the limitations of the CC and the predetermined look of the Couslands I gave up on a black PC in DAO
At least they seem to be improving in that regard.
Right so as per Allan's request, let's bring it back to the lady Inquisitor!
Here's something I'm curious about. For women who will roll a lady Inquisitor, will you try to make her look as similar to you as possible, or the complete opposite? I think oddly when I was younger I was more keen on making my characters as different as can be... pink hair, tattoos, the works (I'm referring to DAO's Warden... that was a while back, now!). But now I'm more interesting in creating a character who resembles me more. I wonder if it's an age thing. Not sure!
And for the guys... When you play the opposite gender, do you try to make her look as attractive as you can, or like a female version of yourself, etc etc?
Phew -- finally caught up on the thread (stoopid Real Life, interfering with the Important things ... ). My compliments to all y'all on maintaining so civil a discourse, even in times of disagreement.
I'd like to think there were Qunari and Elvish versions of myself (and post-Apocalyptic ones, and super-spy ones, and pirate ones, and astronaut ones and so on), somewhere out in the multiverse, but I have no idea what they would look like, so I just try and make a character who looks like she has a past; something to hook a character on. Maybe she's a sheltered, bookish type. Maybe she's a battle-hardened ass-kicker, having suffered some donkey-related trauma in the War. So, scars, or glasses, or the most flattering/unflattering hair in the CC. They rarely look like me, and are much older, or much younger, for reasons best known to my subconscious. I find it easier and more fun to play someone I'm not than someone I am. But if I play a human, they tend to be Asian or Caucasian, because darker skin tones don't render all that well. Hopefully the new engine will fix that right up.
My male avatars tend to be pale, dark haired and blue or green eyed, unless they are dwarven or specifically Celtic, in which case, it's abundant red hair and hazel/green eyes. In WoW and DAO anyhow.

I actually kind of have how I envision my first two Inquisitors already! ![]()
They both look absolutely nothing like me, haha. I know won't be able to get them to look exactly like the images in the spoilers above (and for the Qunari I want her face to look less "typically feminine" anyway), but I want to see how close I can get. c: I'm hoping there are some freckles at least for my Dalish Inquisitor...
For pretty much any customizable character I "create", I think of a personality first and base their look off of that, no matter what their gender is. That said, I tend to go for characters that aren't extremely masculine or feminine; somewhere in the middle works best for me, otherwise I have no idea what I'm doing. Especially when it comes to traditionally feminine characters--any time I try to put makeup on a character it looks like a clown did it. ![]()
Wow... I missed a lot but finally caught up, congrats on keeping it civil all.
I'm thinking my first inquisitor will be qunari or elf so regarding the qunari lady I'm not sure how she'll look I'm hoping for tall, broad and strong like her male compatriots and then see what I can actually do with horns, scars (hoping desperately to have scars to choose from), tattoos, warpaint, skin colours and hair colours after that. I'm not sure what the restrictions if any will be on hair, skin and eye colours for the qunari so I can't be sure until I see the character creator.
That reminds me thanks for asking about it on twitter Nefla ![]()
My elf won't really be like me (No character will though they may end up with some 'white knight' tendancies since I tend to lean toward helping people automatically and even when playing can find it hard to 'not help' let alone actively hinder characters along the way) but she'll probably have dark hair and green or grey eyes unless there are vibrant hair colours available in the cc to do something completely different with. I'm leaning toward making a fierce looking qunari who is actually a gentle giant and a cynical, sarcastic dalish elf who might not look as deadly as she really is... if I can actually do that of course and then seeing where I want to go after that... or I may completely change my mind long before then... October is still months away after all and I might very well have something entirely different in mind by then ![]()
Id make myself in the game as me, then run around asking if they saw my cat anywhere. My poor cat.
Sorry that time I was just trolling.
or is it this time now...nope maybe next one. ![]()
I may play the qunari female first cause that is very unique, very new perspective Id love to see and hear about. The males been seen but not females that I know of.
Over the last couple of years, I've seen several threads requesting more afro-textured hairstyles. I really hope they will be better able to provide a more diverse selection this time.
The way they handled the presets in DA2 was certainly a step forward. I'm white IRL, but I sometimes choose to play PoC, because I enjoy the variety and diversity.
Vivienne looks lovely, though her skin looks fairly shiny in the images I've seen. It will be interesting to see whether that shine is due to her makeup style choices, or if all dark-skinned characters will be shiny.
Today I discovered that even dashing male potential love interests are not enough to tempt me to want to play a male Inquisitor. I mean, good for all the players who are now planning to play male Inquisitors in order to get to know Dorian better, but I know myself pretty well, and I know that ten minutes of romance content won't be as interesting to me as any of the female heroes I will be playing for what might be hundreds of hours. Just my two cents, but this seems like an appropriate place to say it.

XD yeah I know that feel. I have the feeling I'm going to be like my DAO gender picks with DAI. I'll do like 2 males to my dozens of females XD and enjoy the female playthroughs so much more.
I wonder if I will be able to do as many playthroughs(97% as femshep) as I have with ME3? It might be hard to do since the game may take over 50 hours to complete. I will have to do a playthrough to see how fast it would take to finish this game. Of course most(if not all) playthroughs I do will be with my femquis.
Yep, my third would most likely become rushed or fourth one. ![]()

I must admit, the qunari in a pink dress was startling, to say the least!

However, under that, they both look pretty awesome. The freckles on your elf are adorable!

freckles for the win!! XD
Yeah, one of the problems with the older gender was that the darker someone's skin was, the more plastic-y and Barbie-like they appear. I guess that's why the darkest skinned characters in the game had custom skin.
It'll be interesting to see if the new engine fixes it, though I'm doubtful.
I'm guessing you mean "older gen" games and were auto corrected...was very consfused there for a minute ![]()

Thanks!
I love freckles; I'd put them on every character if I could...
And yeah, there are not a lot of Qunari in cute pink dresses in Dragon Age, haha. It mostly happened because I like the way that pink looks and I was too lazy to find something Dragon Age-y. ![]()

Not my femshep sadly, she looked like she was made out of wax, especially next to Jacob. >.<

I feel ya. I'm really REALLY excited about Dorian, but dangit! I'm more excited about my female Inquisitor!
I just don't know now who she'll be interested in!
Whew- okay. Took a few days to go be a real life person and remind myself that both getting too weighty and getting into arguments w/ random trolls who dine on the enraged screams of the mortally offended on videogame forums is really silly. I think I'm ready to rejoin the conversation now ![]()
So I was catching up on a few of the MGDMT comics that I've missed recently, and reminding myself of how much I heart Kelly Turnbull
and her hilarious portrayal of all the manly men and it, for some reason, made me think of the Qunari femquisitor fanart pic we so hotly debated a few pages back. The only other real femquisitor fanart I've seen is Aimo's- mostly due to the fact that I don't really go in much for fanart usually. However, I have a hankering for some Femquiz art, and you guys seemed like the most appropriate folks to ask. Do you guys have any favorite artists who have fan art of our beloved femquisitor? If so- will you post it?
I'll post my favorite so far- it's from the wondrous aimo (her Cadash is my favorite, of course):

Oh- I've also seen this one by Lady Zolstice
I think the female inquisitor here nearly ties w/ aimo's Cadash for my favorite fanquisitor (it's possible I'm being colored by Varric's presence in both cases)

LOVE
her face in the next one, strong, scarred, and feminine as hell!

Awwww Varric and the Qunari, I friggin' LOVE IT!
Those are awesome comics and drawings! ![]()
Well, going to update for anyone that remembers that one post I had about the female I made for a table top Champions (superhero's). My uphill battle with her paid off extremely well. Especially with the last battle she fought in, taking half the enemy group out by herself with only a few taken by others, cause her being extremely skilled in combat skills. They also want her to train other group members now, which I asked the group why they never trained before.
GM has really noticed her by far, and she also ended up leading the group through quite a bit of the story that session. Still cant believe I had to go through that with her, though she still gets made fun of a little bit, but not nearly as much anymore. She is being taken seriously now.
After nearly 5 months of playing through different sessions. (Played a lesbian Fex (alien cat race) for the first time outside of a CRPG for those new to reading this thread and not read the previous post.)
Its definitely unique experience, and enjoying that character a lot. Which I still cant wait for DA:I and to see how that story progresses for characters.
Just thought I post this about AWR(Alix Wilton Regan), one of the voices of femquisitor, that she can be found on facebook for those who may be interested
