The characters I listed were core central characters, all were companions. As far as you not wanting a LI that's fat or whatever...none of them are or ever have been and no one is trying to get that changed so...what's your point? You just wanted to tell us all how much you like people who are perfect and sexy and idealized? That's nice. :?

It's a thread about the female Inquisitor. Which means it's a thread about women. Which means someone needs to tell us how all women need to be attractive, or they have 'character flaws.'

Typical internet.

Pretty much...that's why I've ignored him, and that's without having a debate with him.

All I want from female characters in games like this are that they are one of three things (or a combo plate of all 3 things):

-Badass...  look to characters like Artemisia or Gorgo as they are portrayed in the two 300 movies

-Spy network types like Leliana

-The ones that are manipulative and use promises to make people do things for them and then they stab the person in the back when they complete what they need

He's on my ignore too, but people quote him and once I've seen that kind of illogical, backwards, inflammatory statements I feel compelled to speak up.

That's what this all comes down to. Making characters as great as they can be. The most they can be. And this kind of flaw makes less of a character.

Bob, have you actually played any of the Dragon Age games yet? I only ask because many of the characters, the core companion characters at that, are certainly not as "great as they can be."

Flaws make characters interesting:

-Frank Castle, a man that misses his family and is battling with his love for killing

-The Hound in ASoIaF.  He's a good person that has been contorted by his upbringing

-Tony Stark...  an allchy

-Boromir....  extremely pragmatic but then he realizes his mistake at the end

Having just watched them both this weekend... (cause who doesn't like a bunch of mass killing on the Independence Day weekend here in the States) I hope I can make a female character that would be as badass as these two put together.

Spoiler

The Lena Headey image just reminded me I want to make my inquisitor look a bit like Mama from Dredd. I want some scars please.

Can't say,  I blame you. :)

Anyways, I'm still trying to figure out who I want my first fem-quiz to romance and what class I wanna play her as( my first male will be a warrior as always and is definetely going for Cassandra [would go Leliana if she were available though]) .

Spoiler

God she is a scary character, got what was coming to her though.

Still, loved how after the mini gun bit Dredd just walks out of the rubble with her Lieutenant and just chucks him off the balcony and walks back into the smoke.

I admit to being immensely satisfied with the way Dredd handled her, but then I was satisfied with the way he handled all of them.

I hope there are dialogue options so we can make the PC be like Karl Urban's Dredd

I agree. Evil should suffer through one-liners before they die. Here's to hoping my FemQuisitor can give them a taste of that.

Just going to say my two cents real quick just because a character male or female is fat does not make them less of a character I know several very beautiful people in real life who are overweight and their weight does not make them any less beautiful. Also having a fat LI isn't damaging at all I can think of at least two games right now that have fat LIs. And one of them is a wonderful character who I adore her being overweight does not make her less of a person than the thin LIs or a the Short LIs or the Tall LIs or any of them. Also not every main character has to be 'incredibly attractive' I can't recall the last book I read where the main character was more than plain or average didn't make me enjoy the book any less. Theres nothing wrong with enjoying attractive characters or even preferring them but theres everything wrong with saying they are the only ones worth showing. Okay I'm done just needed to get that off of my chest, but it ticks me off to see someone saying that if a character is not beautiful by model like standards than they are lesser than characters (and people) who are.

Whelp. Nope, I sincerely, passionately, 100% disagree with that.

Being fat isn't a character flaw. And frankly the idea that fat people are somehow inherently less compelling as people or even just as characters is gross and shows exactly why more fat characters (arguably fat women characters) are needed across all media.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Stories should enunciate greatness. Not mediocrity. And being overweight goes directly against that.

A person's actions define them...  not their weight.  Greatness is in a person's actions, what they do, how they make the tough decisions, how they deal with their enemies.

Let none who measure less than perfection ever taint the League of Heroes, whose vastness in matters both sexy and heroic live forever in legend.

If A is worth more than B, B, in comparison must be worth less than A. It has to be.

It's plain, simple, utterly inescapable logic. If I value A more, I value B less in comparison.

I prefer attractive people. I value them more. In real life, and in fiction. The inevitable, inescapable consequence is that I value unattractive people less in comparison.

There's no way around it.

1) Don't apologize to me for my own opinions.

2) Stories don't have to enunciate greatness. Many do the opposite. And very well. They are captivating, impactful, memorable, and important too.

3) Fat doesn't equal mediocrity. Fat does not equal lacking greatness. Fat equals fat. That's it.

4) Ok, at this point, either I'm talking to Channing Tatum or you probably have some self-esteem/self-confidence issues to work on.

This isn't in reference to the ongoing debate of weight but here is an old time American man's opinion in reference to sexual orientation:

"And if I hear one of you people make reference to his manhood," Lombardi is quoted as saying, "you'll be out of here before your ass hits the ground."

Pretty sure this is relevant here as well.

Karl Urban's "I am the law" destroys the ever living Hell out of how ever many times Sly dropped it.

Its nice to hear that the new version of Judge Dredd is better than that original version Sly made some years back.
