Everything I am listing, comes from different places. Please, confirm your theory before speaking about ugly or fat people when have a huge number. I could literally keep going with the real life people or game characters cause even that has lists. I made my point and listed many examples. We separated from the core of the thread too much now.
Could we please see more of the Lady Inquisitor?

Women in books considered 'unattractive' (physically)I'm just here to try and speak on behalf of what everyone actually does - fill their stories with attractive characters.
Jane Eyre - Small and plain (oh and poor)
Bridget Jones - fat boozy and a smoker.
Celie - ugly a liar and spoiled twice (according to her father) - I'm pretty sure Alice Walker doesn't give a crap about whether the characters are attractive, I guess she should give up all those awards for writing some pretty vile (personality wise) characters.
Brienne of Tarth - mannish and ugly
That took 20 seconds to recall.
I can recall quite a few books with awful characters personality wise too if you like.
I'm sure I can conjure up some dudes as well.
Actually while I write this the first ugly guy that comes to mind is Thomas Covenant. He was so ugly (looks and personality) that his writer didn't write about him, oh, at least 10 times.

Ugly people have no value or worth.
Society doesn't value them, marketing doesn't value them, religions and gods don't value them. Ugly people are not valued.
What is this garbage about what society values? I thought this was a discussion about a video game character. Marketing? Really? I'm pretty certain that marketing didn't value people of color either. Oh, how times change! Religions and gods? Who gives a flying hamster testicle about that?

displayname, I am posting as I find them, response to the post I made that for went a couple more away from each time, I cant quote otherwise I would, please reread several posts to find their relevance. I just listed live actors/actresses for you. The ugly game characters were for Bob's post earlier.

So it takes Mary sue characters, super villains that are stereotypically ugly by default, or Wario to have famous ugly people? You do realize that you could put a tually celebrities in a list and it would have just as much merit. He'll, Vigo whatshisface from LotR is as ugly as a monkey, but how many people would know his name from Orlando Blooms?
You're using Viggo Mortensen as an example? Sorry buddy, but that's some straight banthashit right there.
Orlando Bloom's got nothing on Humphrey Bogart ![]()

Ehhh, the thread was also compromised when you decided to come in and straight up state that you'd be upset because a love interest may not be as skinny as you like.
I would be upset that BioWare might be losing sight of what an epic story is about by using a character design few players - not just me - would find compelling or attractive to satisfy a misguided desire for 'inclusion' or 'realism.' And that further changes of the same vein would perhaps be down the road.

I don't go by appearance, I learned the hardway. I married a beautiful lady, inside she was uglier than Uldred. I would been safer with Uldred.
displayname, if your not interested in this game then why you here? Actually the characters are already produced, take a look at the view of them. Bob complaining about fat and ugly actually isn't logical. To him they maybe as well as few others, but several also find them attractive.

What's the difference? it's not like you'd play this game anyway. You'd just object on principle.

I frankly find the concept interesting. I greatly prefer to challenge established tropes.
However, since you decided to reiterate that this character design makes the character not compelling I'll simply state that you've said your piece. We disagree. Lets move on.

Ugly people have no value or worth.
Society doesn't value them, marketing doesn't value them, religions and gods don't value them. Ugly people are not valued.
Ugly inside is far worse than ugly outside. You can be the most beautiful looking human alive and still be completely ugly if your personality is ugly.
You're saying that people with birth defects, scars, bad burns and so on that have nothing to do with the person they are (and in many cases exemplify a strong will to survive at the very least) have no value regardless of what else they might do in life? In case you're not aware plenty of scientists and doctors don't look like supermodels but they've found cures or treatments that keep people alive and may help even you if someday you needed that treatment. Should you refuse because it was created by an ugly person?
Every person has value and the second you dehumanise someone because they're "ugly" (an opinion that is subjective by the way) is the second you start down the road of justifying atrocities the likes of what was done to Jews who were first deemed "ugly" and "not human" so everything done to them was justified by the logic that they weren't people by those who tortured, abused and murdered them. Because they had no value to their attackers.
I'll repeat every person has value and the part that actually matters is the person not the looks since looks fade... everyone gets older and even the beautiful people end up grey and wrinkled (unless they go the plastic surgery/botox route where they just look old and weird anyway).
Edit: So many people posted while I was typing this... oh well moving on, yes it would be nice to see our first in game female dwarf since Origins.
Oh and Natashina where on the official site does it say you can pick your gender? I know the two E3 trailers are up on the main page but I can't seem to find a mention of gender (or race) choices for that matter.

Sounds like a coworker of mine. Keeps trying to hit on all these girls in the bar (I work as a bouncer right now) that are admittedly very physically attractive and he wonders why so many of them are super duper shallow and crap.

Sounds similar to my uncle only now he just judges very harshly since he's married again and has a little girl. Don't know if he still hits on model looking women but man oh man will he rip apart a woman's look in half a second.

We have "reggae" night on Wedesdays... and it's packed. YOu chase after girls out on that night and well, more power to you I suppose.....
And I use quotations because this is what gets played:
Kill me now....
Back on subject... I really wish we could get to see a couple of the other trailers (like the one where the Inquisitor walks out of the flames and then Cassandra puts a sword to their throat) with the female version or with even a male elf or dwarf.
