In a handbag. The City Elf starts off okay as well, all things considered, until the kidnapping.
Yeah I guess I didn't like the CE as much cause I played my girl as the whole "I'm running away the minute your back is turned dad." type XD

That's why I despised Oghren and I love Varric. I felt Oghren was a step backward towards the more Tolken-esque representation of dwarves, complete with his alcoholism played up for laughs in Awakening (something I never want to see in a BW game ever again.) Whereas Varric represented the more interesting and complex nature of the dwarves of Thedas to me.
Ahhh the dwarves... I love them all, from Tolkien to Heitz and back again! I have to admit to a special fondness for DA dwarves, and especially Varric
. This may be due to the fact that my first (and favorite) playthrough of DAO was as a cheeky, casteless rogue, or because of the completely awesome terribleness of the politics, or possibly just because DA's lady dwarves don't have beards, but still rock some of the most badass armor and tats in the game; kinda like a serious version of Pratchett's Discworld dwarves- sans the beards of course (my first character was actually named Cheery Littlebottom
, made it hard to take her really seriously sometimes).
I liked Oghren though, and while his alcoholism was used to garner a few laughs, I found the humor to be mostly in keeping with real-life military humor. Oghren's seen some ****, and he has a lot of flaws; like so many real-life military vets, he tried to drink some of that away, and like most real-life battle-buddies, his comrades-in-arms laughed and joked about it because, really, what else are you gonna do? Today, we can refer our friends and loved ones to ASAP (the army's acronym for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program, at least while I was in), but its not like Thedas, and especially the traumatized band of Wardens and their motley crew, had anything similar. None of them had any real help to offer the poor guy, and he made it clear that he did not want to talk about the underlying issues, so they laughed it up and joked instead. Anyway, that was my take on it, from an ex-military perspective. The army culture kinda glorifies alcohol, I can think of 6 difference running and marching cadences off the top of my head that are all about getting wasted- and that got taught as part of the curriculum at PLDC (Primary Leadership Development Course- all E-5's have to attend, or did when I was active, before they can be a SGT in charge of a squad). I didn't mind seeing it in game, and wouldn't mind seeing it again, because it lends a sense of what army life is actually like when you're in a combat unit, especially army life when you're in the field, trying to avoid getting caught w/ a camelback full of crappy vodka and gatorade, and laughing about it ruefully with all your friends.
In Origins, I thought that worked well for Oghren. You bring up some excellent points and remind me why I enjoyed the character in the core game. I really did not like the way that he was presented in Awakening though.
They gave me Sigrun in that expansion though, so it's was a good tradeoff. I usually left Oghren at the Keep.
Out of likes, so here you go:

Also, I've been a D&D player since 1987. I was quite used to be the lone gal in D&D games.
I have been really fortunate to have an amazing group of gaming friends since my undergrad years in the early-mid 90s. We have about a 50-50 split of guys and girls who are big into roleplaying, as opposed to roll-playing.
Of course, we are now scattered across North America, but we have successfully managed to play a few tabletop RPG games over the internet, using Gametable and mIRC.
(We used to be scattered over North America, Asia, and Europe, but we're now all back on the same continent, which makes time zones less of a hassle...)
The one problem with having such a great group of gaming friends is that it's hard to go out and find new gamer friends in the community I live in now (in northern Alberta, Canada) - not only because I don't know where to begin to find out if there ARE any gamers up here, but because, even if there are, how will they compare to my old and very comfortable group of gaming friends, many of whom are female? So I haven't played a face-to-face tabletop RPG in over a decade, except for the occasional one-session game when we're all back in our home town for the holidays or a wedding. ![]()
That's why we started getting into some MMORPGs, too, so that we could keep in touch and enjoy each other's company even over long distances. But the MMORPGs never were as successful for us as the tabletop ones run online. ![]()
I suspect I have been trying some of my friends' patience 'cause I keep swooning over DAI and posting cool stuff about it on my facebook page. ![]()
I moved around too much growing up as a kid, so I never had a set group. I had a few groups come and go in high school. Now I have a great group with my husband, my guy friend (who just got into D&D at the age of 40,) and the best man from our wedding. We've been running the same campaign for almost 10 years. I'm still the only girl, but I have an awesome group of friends that don't treat me differently due to my gender. If anything, because I play more of a caster class and I'm heavier on the RP side than the fighters, my DM makes me work for my exp just as much if not harder than the fighters. It's easier to get levels when you are hacking and slashing everything in sight.
We just can't game very often due to conflicting work schedules, and all of us either don't have the rigs for MMOs or are completely sick of them.
Yeah I guess I didn't like the CE as much cause I played my girl as the whole "I'm running away the minute your back is turned dad." type XD
Me too!
I like dwarves and I'm happy to see them because they seem to get less attention than other races but oddly enough I've never been able to complete a dwarf play through myself. I've never been an Oghren fan he's probably my least favourite bioware companion in a long time and I never travel with him if I can help it. I liked Varric though and I loved Dagna and was really hoping we'd get another female dwarf companion this time around (I know Sigrun was one in Awakening which I never got round to getting even though I've played DAO more times than I can remember atm).
Yeah I found the deep roads pretty boring and would rather skip it than the fade to be honest... just too brown all the time. I can't say I was terribly impressed with dwarven politics either... the first time I encountered them I was an elven mage and had no idea what was going on and then when I rolled a dwarven noble she didn't seem to clear up all that much of it for me either. Mind you I abandoned that run soon after and never did play dwarven noble again and I don't think I went beyond arriving at Ostegar with the dwarven commoner either. So it turns out I suck at playing female dwarves and therefore want interesting female dwarves in the world around me to compensate. ![]()
I'd like to see female elf inquisitor too and I don't care if she's a mage, warrior or rogue just really interesting please. To be fair I think the female inquisitor I'm least interested in seeing is human and besides we've seen one in a trailer so I'm all for giving the other races a chance to shine too. What I really hope we get in upcoming trailers though is voice samples of all the inquisitor voices you can choose from. So far we've had the British male inquisitor a couple of times and the British lady inquisitor once so for those looking for the American samples I hope they get them as well. ![]()
I want hair like this for both sexes:

Maybe just a bit longer. This is mostly due to the poster asking for the curls on page 186
My first female character I played was Samus in Metroid.
My first computer was a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A.
An my wife is a Gamer, we've played UO, Everquest, DAoC and WoW together though these days due to work and Scouts she has limited time to game.
I Fully Support Women in Gaming & in the Military and the frontlines.

I think the DA:O story I enjoyed the most was the Mages, The Dalish story felt so stiff and rigid to me, though I did like Tamlen.
My very first play through was as Noble Female Rogue and the first time I met Arl Rendon Howe I felt he was a snake waiting for father to be alone to twist a blade in his back.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to the Lady Inquisitor, We always see the Human's portrayed why not shake things up and release a trailer with one of the other races, like the female dwarves or a female Quanari as Elves <An I love elves> look to much like humans in armor might not be the best choice.
Seeing a Female Dwarf Inquisitor on the screen rallying the troops for an assault on a town under siege and then blending in shadows as the enemy commander prepares to issue orders and the Inquisitor popping in behind him with daggers at his throat respectfully asking him to drop weapons and surrender. Just picturing that in my mind is making me excited for October 7th to get here, hehe.
I would love to see different types of hair styles from curly to ragged <I have naturally curly hair> and piercings and battle tattoo's.

Oh, you I like.
They did release a trailer with a Qunari female Inquisitor. Did you want the link so you could take a look?
Edit: My bad, it's footage from E3.
Yes Thank you Natashina that would be most welcome.

Oops, trailer is the wrong term, but she was featured at E3. So my apologizes. To me, that's almost as good as a trailer. ![]()
EDIT:
NVM, was nitpicking.

Thanks for the laugh this early in the moring
General question to the thread: What was the first game with a lady main character that you ever played? Mine was the (rather awful) Athena for the NES.
Guest_StreetMagic_*
I remember Athena for NES. Not sure if that was the first for me though. It's pretty close. Either that or Metroid. I had the Atari consoles before that, but I don't remember any games with female protagonists there.
Question.
Is it ok to post stuff on this thread about the VA's for femquisitor since she is the voice? And if so, what would be acceptable?

A few posters mentioned Ms. Pacman, so that counts for the Atari and arcade. ![]()
