Though Sif's armored outfit from Thor 2 would be a nice look as well.

I wouldn't mind having either of them as a set for a Femquisitor.

I love Lady Sif's armor.

Xena to me always felt like a show made with a bunch of leftover porno costume pieces.  Even as a little kid it never made sense to me.

They'd be like Golden Axe 2

Responding to this late, but no, this still would not be sexy men marketed at women.  The men aren't posed to show off their crotches or their butts or their abs.  They are dressed the way they are to give the "barbarian" vibe, as per the Conan books/comics, which are very male-oriented.

What is being shown off is how powerful and mighty and capable the men are, not how sexy they are.  Basically if someone thinks they are sexy, that is incidental and not intentional--and many but not all women would likely find the man on the left less attractive due to his apparent age.

Sexualizing someone requires intent.  A nude may be sexy but there's a difference between making that nude sexy and making them sexualized.  The only way I know to say it is how I said it before--the difference between sexy and sexualized is the intent behind the art--is the character all about looking sexy?  Then it's probably sexualized.  Is their sexiness/nudity/etc. related to some aspect of their character or culture?  Then there may be some leeway to simply say it's a case of incidental sexiness.  And even then not all sexualization is always bad, it depends on the intent...  Isabella was sexualized, for sure.  I still believe she should have been given more practical attire--tight trousers for instance rather than a long shirt with nothing underneath.  And yet, it fit her character, and wasn't done purely to give others eye candy.  So... it kind of worked (not really for me, because you can still look sexy while being practical, imho) for her character for a lot of people.

The woman's pose in that box art is surprisingly less sexualized than most, despite her attire, but she is angled juuust so you can get the best look at her cleavage, and about to fall out of her bra there.  And it is probably not purely for the purpose of being in combat that she is displayed straddling the dragon... just putting that out there.  Still, it's less in-your-face about making the woman's pose say "please have sex with me now," so I'll give it credit where it's due.  She's not dressed any worse than the men and she at least looks like she's also in an action pose.

After all these years i just noticed the bulge pressing against Thunderhead's leotard. God i need some brain bleach!

And it is probably not purely for the purpose of being in combat that she is displayed straddling the dragon... just putting that out there.

You could use mounts in GA while i can't see anything sexual about her pose. Like if she's gyrating and moaning on top of the mount, or being depicted from the back with oiled up, firm, dat ass buttocks being shown first and foremost. Thunderhead and Ax could easily be switched with her and not look out of place as warriors, or look like they're posing for Play Girl Magazine.

I don't know if it was the artist's intent to sexify Tyris but compared with the standard depiction of females in games and the media in the early 90's, her muscular depiction seems unconventional. Even by today's standard too.

I agree about Ax Battler not being drawn to convey his attractiveness despite him looking like an underwear model though.

Female Qunari design:

Spoiler

I really like this outfit, aside from the pants which look a little odd.

Is this an undershirt or something like a casual uniform?

It is an underarmor since the armor loads a fraction of a second later.

I understand that maybe the developers don't have a female Inquisitor archetype ready yet for marketing, but when you do can we please get a "Last Supper" wallpaper with the female Inquisitor at the table?  That would make me so happy! :D

Obviously a female Inquisitor trailer and such would be awesome too, but I understand that will probably take more time to get ready :).

Her head seems small for her body, and i hope the model doesn't suffer from "those arms?" syndrome. The dimorphism between male and female qunari is starting to remind me of WoW's.

They had a female Inquisitor in the Blackwall/Sera/Iron Bull/Vivienne trailer.

We haven't actually seen the male yet, they won't be as big as the bull. Probably more like DA2

Hopefully.

Though playing as a qunari rogue the size of Iron Bull and Letho would be amusing. The qunari pc would be so physically imposing that their usage of stealth would consist of people being intimidated to the point that they'd try to pretend that the pc isn't there.

One thing I've been tempted to do in an eventual playthrough is make a male qunari rogue, specialize him for stealth and dual daggers, and then have all the other rogues tag along.  Just the idea of a huge hulking qunari rogue amuses me.  Not sure why.  "Pretend you can't see me..."

But we were on the topic of the FEMALE Inquisitor...

And I'm really hoping we'll get another trailer or two of the Lady Inquisitor before the release.

Natashina, I love that Wonder Woman, I actually prefer that style better with the pants.

EDIT:

She seems more serious to me in that way. "Look at me, Im strong, do not tempt me."  :)  My female character in Champions actually dress up in body armor as well when I play her, and casual pre-industrial clothing with pants. She cant wear a skirt when she needs to pounce a criminal at a moments notice. I should get her imaged so can see her design. She isn't sexualized, and she is being taken seriously. Especially taking on 6 minor demons on her own, :D She can pounce 40 meters in a split second, so a skirt isn't advisable to me. :)  I find that I prefer female comic characters dressed properly over those that aren't, guess cause I don't take them seriously myself, they look sexualized to me.

Reedit:  I love that Qunari by the way she looks great.

I'm going to be honest and say that I actually forgot that there was a male qunari option for players.

I haven't forgotten, he just doesn't belong in a thread for the female inquisitor, so I don't talk about him.

I'm not sure which one of you it is (I'm assuming it is), but there was an interesting tumblr post that I saw some coworkers retweet.  The person's twitter (Ellorgast) points out the frustration that everyone jumped on other studios for lack of women, but nothing real came out of our reveal.

Negative news does seem to sell over positive news it seems.  And during E3 it was quite the hot topic, but how would we go about encouraging more proliferation of "this is the way we want" type of news?  I'll admit the obvious benefits BioWare would have if you went off and campaigned for more exposure for us for doing this, but at the same time in general how do we promote and encourage more positive waves (regardless of what sort of waves we happen to be casting).

I am curious about that myself. I know that in pm's or private chat its being discussed. Sending information to different news sources of the positives on female showing from Bioware. I retweeted the cupcakequisition earlier but don't have tumblr, and mine is the same is this name here.

This is probably because I have a BS do nothing degree in Poli Sci but Tweeting to news orgs and such (I'm thinking things like GameSpot, IGN, and others) is very... well, news won't get clicks for good things.  They get clicks for drugs, sex, violence, and scandal.

Like you would think with all the very pro-female anti-white male protag establishment pieces that Kotaku has run they would be a great place to go for something like this but they probably wouldn't run very many things about it.

To put it very bluntly, it's far easier to rant and rave, b---- and moan about something than it is to go out there and make the change.  Add that to the fact the whining and moaning will get you more clicks and thus more ad revenue and well.....

But, did anyone here actually contact Kotaku, The Escapist, or Forbes w/ this?  I know I didn't, but I rectified that as soon as I saw Allan's post.  Maybe no one will pick up on it, but I emailed Dave Thier at Forbes, the news room at IGN, and John Keefer at The Esacpist just now. Never know- maybe someone'll do a piece.

^That's also my answer to Allan's question.  Maybe we need to start being the catalysts a little better (and no, I do not mean that catalyst :P ) Maybe if we all tweeted, blogged, FB'd etc. about this stuff, it would get a little more play, or picked up by an outlet able to increase distribution size.  At the very least, it can't hurt to add a little more positivity, and you never know, it might help.
