Some really good spies wouldn't let little things such as gender get in the way.

so far 4 of the 5 e3 videos were of a female qunari... so, i dont know what youre talking about...

XD gender maybe not, but build certainly. The bodies of the male characters are very broad shouldered and muscular, and the females very slender and hourglass shaped. Not to say that it wouldn't be fun to try (and maybe succeed depending on race) anyway.
The FB comments on the escapist article are more encouraging today, IMO
Woohoo! Thanks for the update Allan. ![]()
On the other hand, inept rulers is kind of the theme of Kirkwall. The Viscount is as weak a leader as Elthina.
I feel like Anora have been received better if we could have seen more of her. The writers pulled a great reversal with her character, painting her as an innocent damsel to be rescued, until she strolls into the landsmeet and reveals that it was all an act. But it's easy to have your first impression of her color your perception. I didn't think much about her the first time I played through, but now I see her as cunning and manipulative. And frankly, if you convince her and Alistair to marry, she is significantly less whiny of the two, despite the grossness of having to marry her dead husband's half-brother.
That is the BEST.
Actually considering the viscount has no power and has to keep peace between nobles, qunari, merchants, citizens and the chantry, templars and mages all keen to assert their authority I always thought it was remarkable he managed to keep the peace as long as he did (nearly 6 years). Plus he has Meredith watching him closely and taking control whenever she feels like it (she was in control of the fates of the refugees arriving in the city not the guard for example) and since she killed the previous viscount and had the best trained soldiers in the city he was clearly wary of her potentially killing him too.
It's Elthina's portrayal that is more disappointing to me as I think there were signs in acts 1 and 2 that Meredith was letting her own past colour her judgements and wasn't really suited to being knight commander that Elthina should have done something about and frankly I'm not sure why someone with the supposed authority of head of the chantry couldn't demote Meredith or send her away when it was clear she was pushing too hard. If you ask her in act 3 why she can't settle the matter she tells you you're overestimating her abilities, does that mean she knows Meredith would rebel if she sent her elsewhere or demoted her? In reality only Meredith is portrayed as having any real power out of the supposedly powerful leaders in Kirkwall, even Orsino in his rebellion has no real power and he knows it, actually Dumar seems to know he has no real power either so only Elthina never really claims the power she should still have. It makes for an interesting dynamic in some ways but in others makes Elthina a very ineffectual character for the most part.
With Anora I never saw her reveal herself as cunning and manipulative in the landsmeet though I usually either make her the queen or marry her to Alistair and she still remains queen so perhaps that's why. Though she certainly is less whiny than Alistair the only time you really see her take control is if you save Loghain and she gives the rallying speech before the battle. Also this: (except I never ran an Alistair romance so didn't ever see assertive Anora)
The problem with Anora is that it's actually difficult to see that she was plotting anything at all at the Landsmeet. Her first plot looks to be abandoning you to Ser Cautherin, which is a pretty poor introduction. If you plan to marry her to Alistair - which anyone who isn't romancing him might well do - then she goes along with the plan at the Landsmeet, unless you have Alistair kill Loghain.
So there are numerous outcomes where she never takes control over her own life. I didn't see Anora be even remotely assertive until I ran an Alistiar romance.
The Grey or Middle ground we offer Cheesecake of all varieties, lets wet those taste buds....who needs cookies or cupcakes, hehe,
I like all the points you made in your post but this is the part that really caught my eye... can't I have cookies, cupcakes and cheesecake? Pretty please.
I think I belong in a group that can't really pick a favourite at this rate.
No, just remembered I belong in whatever group offers chocolate. ![]()
Which group offers chocolate?

Edit: Spelling
Edit 2: Just remembered did anyone else notice that Mike described the fem qunari inquisitor as the fan favourite in why they were doing the new voice over demos with her. I just thought that was pretty awesome and shows female protagonists can be well liked too. ![]()
Thought I drop in and post happy 200th page. Good going folks. Femquisitor rules.
Happy 200 pages! ![]()
Wow, I pop out for a day or two and we hit 200 pgs, get an article in the Esacapist, and all finally admit that we're actually Allan in disguise; big things, big things... Oh, and yes, that's right, I am also Allan, posting from Hawaii, and sending myself cupcakes from, literally, halfway across the globe. You know, just to throw everyone else off the scent ![]()
*snip*
Thanks for the advice! I've yet to get hate on these forums, but I know that being active in topics like this sort of makes us a target, so it's good to be aware.

I get the feeling that you have not read much of this thread or the dates on it. This thread began before there were any videos of the female Inquisitor. Now that those videos have been revealed, many of us are celebrating their existance and discussing ways to draw more attention to them outside of Bioware's existing fandom.
Well, the forum comments are upswinging overall as well. Seems like more people who "get it" and aren't trying to conspiracy theory this thing are posting, and several are calling out the rude folks that initially posted.
I'm pleased, overall. Small bit of faith in humanity rising a bit here.
Okay, so I'm new to this whole "organizing info in the first post" thing, but would people like it if I were to post some links i.e. to the trailer, demos, article...?
I happened to think about doing so since I was flipping back and forth through previous pages, and thought it may help make things more convenient.
If you would like me to do this, let me know, and also feel free to PM me some of the links etc. you wish me to feature.
I don't know why I read the comments on the Escapist article (never read the comments ...) but I did get a laugh out of that one guy insisting that fans wouldn't really send BioWare cupcakes and they faked it for publicity. Apparently I am secretly John Epler and didn't realise it.
(I'm pretty sure it's Epler because I keep ridiculous hours, am easily distracted by shiny things, and people are frequently jealous of my hair.)

The "are you secretly John Epler" test:
How does this make you feel?

Is 'Stupid Sexy Bull' the right answer?
... it's a trick question, isn't it? 'Stupid Sexy Bull' is always the right answer.
Hi, John.
Because I fear it may be lost in the side conversation being had now:
Would anyone like for me to edit the OP with relevant links?
Again, PMs with said links would be welcome.
Happy 200th page. :3
I've been really happy that we got the E3 demo in videos. Qunari Lady Mage has always been top of my list to play, and watching the videos (several times over) just reaffirms how much in love I am with her.

That's a good idea! I can dig some up to send you when I'm not at work (neither videos nor the official site will load on the work computer).
The Escapist article is a good start, though. Link since it's several pages back now: http://www.escapistm...male-Inquisitor

Could we please stop having that picture posted in this thread? It doesn't have anything at all to do with the Lady Inquisitor, and I'm beginning to find it obnoxious.
Thank you for understanding.
