You gotta be ****** kidding me.

That's one of the most pointless, creepiest things I've ever seen.

You're right - pointless and creepy, that's the only way to describe it!!

And besides, being asked to smile more is not something to be offended at, jesus. Not everything is an attack on your gender. Get over yourselves

Very unhelpful post.

When a group of women comes here and is being honest about something that offends them, telling them that their opinions on the matter are invalid and to "get over yourselves" is probably the worst thing you could possibly say. I know we're not all the best at interacting with other people, but surely you can do better than that.

The fact that you've experienced very similar things with this "you should smile more" thing should make you an ally with us, not the other way around. Very disappointing.

Hmm I feel like maybe we should all get that op available in Korea that results in a permanent slight smile...

http://disinfo.com/2...in-south-korea/

That's bouncing all over the creepy--terrifying scale right there.  Also, there's a danger that you'd come out of it looking permanently smug.

My standard response to the "you'd be prettier if you smiled" is to aggressively bear all my teeth, and then return to my natural Resting B-word Face. Works doubly well if your mouth is still numb from going to the dentist.

Never tried that method myself most people still get upset when I do smile for them (just to get them to leave me alone) cause I have very expressive eyes and have become a master of telling people to f**k off with them so I still get called an uptight b*tch sometimes. Damned if I do and damned if I don't.

I know someone's already mentioned, but this really makes me hope we can make an angry-looking Inquisitor if we wanted to. I don't recall if previous CCs had particularly varied lips options?

I like to make an angry looking femquisitor. It would be cool showing her with her shoulders moving up and down huffing and puffing with anger in cutscenes talking to a character.

DA2's character creator had very limited mouth options.  I really hope there's a lot more choice in DA:I.

The message is that being eye candy for any random dude who sees us walking down the street is more important than our feelings and needs.

Nope. Mass Effect had more variety, despite the low mouth corners import bug-thing in ME3. It's more about eyebrows though. Low inner eyebrows make you look pissed or psycho no matter what your mouth looks like

I know that some of the posters have mentioned this before, but scars would be nice.  I have a couple myself, and one of the things I loved about ME1 was that I could have scars as a female character at all.   I even grinned while I was picking them.  They were a little too subtle and there wasn't many, but I was happy to have them.

For my warrior characters, I'd like to have a few battle scars.  I'm not going with "face only a mother could love," but I'd like her to look like she's actually seen some battle.  Since I've playing her as about my age (~35,) I think she'd have some scars after a decade or more of active duty.

That thread is huge, so I was wondering if you have a link handy?  If it is confirmed for both genders, I'll do a happy dance.  :D

Edit: Sorry don't know how to quote a quote so Saberchic is who put the confirmed info in the Iron Bull thread

Q: Scars and/or freckles- an option in the CC? Thanks for replying to our questions btw  :)
A: Both. (ML)

I sympathise, I know I said I hear those words, but I may of misled a little. I will not, absolutely not hear it as often as women will. It's ones that knows me as friends that would say it, hardly not many strangers do. Few but not many, generally when stopped cause of service like a cashier or such.

Awesome, thanks so much.  Now hopefully they won't look like the scars from ME1.  In short, I don't want something that looks like a childhood injury, but a scar only obtained from battle.

Happy dance!

Great point! I think it'd be viable for a mage (or even a very good rogue) to not have many scars, but a warrior of a few years surely would.

My rogue is going to have a couple, since it fits the personality I'm starting to shape in my mind, but I would love to be make to make them less pronounced on her than on say, my Qunari warrior.

When I was a kid, watching the news with my dad, I often noticed how the female news anchors always had these fake smiles plastered on their faces. Since I was also horse-crazy, I would joke that they must have had surgery to nick their face muscles into a permanent smile, the way they used to nick Tennessee Walking Horses' tail muscles so they'd hold their tails up high.

It is sad to know that this is now a reality.

Yeah and that's from the Raptr Q & A originally along with the info that they're still working on hairstyles which suggests to me that the reason we're not seeing much of the CC yet is because they're still finalising and refining the options in it. Hopefully we get some really interesting scars though, I can think of reasons why all my inquisitors might have them though so if there's a variety of interesting scars I suspect all of my characters might end up with something :P.

This is kinda BS.. no complete and total BS. I've been told to "smile more" very often as a child and up into my adult years. Mainly because I have aspergers and I have problems with facial expression. I'm often told that I look like I'm "mean mugging" or asked if something is wrong when I'm actually just fine.

I'm a black male and I get told I'd look cuter or be perceived as more friendly if I smiled more often, so It's not just a female thing.

And besides, being asked to smile more is not something to be offended at, jesus. Not everything is an attack on your gender. Get over yourselves

Being told "you need to smile, you look so much prettier when you smile" boils down to "change this thing about your appearance so you look more attractive to me" and when you hear it all the time and from strangers none the less it's annoying and borderline creepy. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but add the "you need to smile" to all the put downs, sexual harassment, patronizing comments, etc...that most women have to be polite through on a daily basis and you'd understand. If someone actually cares about how you're feeling they'd say "are you ok?" or "what's wrong?" and not "you should smile so you can be pretty." I really don't give a crap if random guy 9,872 thinks I'm pretty or not, I'm not here to impress him and I may be having an awful day. He can go around smiling like a lunatic all day and think of himself as a pretty pretty princess but leave me out of it.

PS: We should "get over ourselves?" You first. Which is more pretentious and unreasonable: venting about an annoying experience with friends who can relate, or stalking a thread you supposedly have no stake in to periodically ****** and moan about how said thread's opinions and emotions are wrong?

Weren't Scars confirmed though? Scars were a yes and Freckles were a no. It was mentioned in the Iron Bull thread I think.

But I want both :<

Well, not particularly pointless. I had a friend who had Bell's palsy and her face never fully recovered, she had surgery similar to this to lift the affected side slightly to match the other side.

Having said that some of the images in that video made the recipients look hella scary, akin to the Joker!

I thought same thing Tayah.

I always felt like it was kind of a horrible thing to do, too, because it's purely for cosmetic appearances. It didn't damage the tails, supposedly, just made them stick up so the hair would flow down like a plume. The horses can still use their tails to whisk flies away. I never rode that breed, but I did read voraciously about horses, so that's how I learned about it. I don't much like the idea of cosmetic surgery for people, either, (except in situations where it's done to repair injuries/disfigurements - elective cosmetic surgery is just too tied up in unrealistic standards of beauty for me to feel comfortable with it) but at least people can make a conscious decision to have it done.

I rode Arabian horses and then Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds - no cosmetic surgery needed for them to meet their "breed standard," thankfully. :3
