I love the hair, personally.  But I do hope they have longer styles too.

Yeah nothing against short hairstyles, I just know that's going to annoy me seeing EVERYONE with short hair when I play. As long as there is some variety...

Well there is always the Sex-Hat I guess.

She looks amazing, and while I do love the hairstyle, the texture still looks like it could use some work... it almost looks like the hair is drawn on the image, and it really stands out when everything else looks so detailed and realistic.  Maybe it's just the lighting in this particular screenshot, but I do hope it improves a bit before the game release.

This. It wouldn't bother me this much with better textures (but good hair textures demand a lot of resources).

I have to admit, I really don't mind if there are only short hairstyles or pinned-up long hairstyles for Inquisitors. While it might be nice to be able to have long, flowing locks when safely holed up in the Inquisition HQ, it doesn't really make sense for me whilst out adventuring, exploring, and questing. I used to be in law enforcement and long, flowing locks were an officer safety issue.  If we had long hair, it had to be pulled back in a tight bun while we were working so that, if we got into an altercation, there wouldn't be much hampering movement or pain if someone managed to grab us by the hair. I think the military probably has similar rules for female soldiers - I know some of the women here do serve, so maybe you can let me know if that's true or not?

I guess this safety consciousness carries over into my RPG characters too. It just doesn't feel practical to me, to design my PCs with long, loose hair. My warden had the big bun on the top of her head hairstyle so it was implied that she had long hair when she wasn't dressed for fighting. I can't remember what style I gave my Hawke...

Yeah, there needs to be more texture in the hair, absolutely. Highlights and things like that. It looks like this elf's hairstyle has the same problem as Dorian's facial hair. I'm pretty hopeful that things like that will be resolved before shipping.

Nice to see another female Inquisitor.  Thank you, BioWare Mike!

That's what I thought about the weird lipsynching and empty, dead, boring feeling of the ME3 demo.

I've never played any of the ME games (more into fantasy settings when I play video games, though I do love sci fi movies and series) so I'm afraid I don't know what the ultimate outcome was... If I read between the lines, I would guess that those problems were still present in the shipped version of the game?

Anyway, the people working on DAI are not the same group of people who worked on ME3, (at least that's what I keep hearing), so I'll continue to give them the benefit of the doubt until I find out otherwise.  :)

Hey well her hair doesn't look as bad as Cole's...

Interesting how everything in the game looks so beautiful and graphically advanced except for the hair, which has somehow been left behind.

Hey off topic but if you like Bioware and you enjoy sci-fi in some capacity, I think you'll really love the Mass Effect series. The games aren't perfect, but they are enjoyable and memorable.  ^_^

Fixing hair would be the best reason for the delay, but that elf looks awesome regardless.

I'm going to guess and say that the men in Battlefield don't have more than an inch of hair.

I got really excited for a split second thinking that elf was rocking the DAO Morrigan bun, I've been wanting that hair style forever! But its not and I made myself sad. That elf looks amazing though aside from the hair that seems like its from a much earlier game. Hair must be a pain to work with I'm guessing.

Yep, the problems were still there :<

"It's a different team" is also what I told myself about ME3 after DA2 had disappointed me. :(

Long story short, I think any issues or flaws present now (that the fans know about) will be in the game. Awful hair is like a BioWare tradition at this point. :pinched:

argh! my eyes...still minimal subtitles...really, how much can cost having lettering of decent format?  (and not white!!! if those stay in a sligtly light scene, is impossible to read!!!)

that's one of the thing that make me laugh when people says "BioWare thinks more to console instead of pc". yeah. really. try to read those letters on a tv (where you can't stay as neas as a pc monitor) in a normal tv (not maxi) when the only way to understand what people are sayng is reading. and than let's talk about it... <_<

the ellven Inquisitor is great, and I'm super happy to see short hairstyles and more evident pointy ears. the textures can be better, of course, but aren't bad.

It's honestly no use trying to blame any particular game engine for shortcomings of hair you see in the game. Hair is ~90% down to how much work and care (and talent) was put into texture and (relatively) simple mesh:

2d6mj5v.jpg

both these things are something pretty much any 3d engine can handle.

I am happy they showed her. I don't usually pick really short hair, but I like the style and it doesn't look like plastic.  On a side note, I was thrilled they actually showed the male and female armor for the sometime in the future ME4 game.  In my view it is progress.

I'd like to see something about creating the customized character.  I don't really need to see the defaults since I probably won't play them anyway, but a hint of what I can do creating my own character would be great.

I actually liked the hair.  I don't usually pick short cuts, but this one did not look plastic to me.  Progress, now I just want my pony tail to swish like it did in KOTOR.

Cole does need a hair fix but depending on what they do with him, I don't see him being interested in how he looks.  It would be sort of fun if we could drag him to a barber to get it trimmed.  A side mission, how much does he have to like us in order to clean it up.

The different team and David G is also what I tell myself when I wonder if pre-ordering was a good idea.  :)

On ME3 ending, I switched from 360 to pc so I could add the MEHEM one of which just changes the destroy ending to what I had expected, Both are good and I actually prefer the one that gets rid of the whole star kid, but I also like that someone just fixed the part that needed really needed it.   It is a good series, actually my favorite of all of them with the MEHEM added, I just wish BW had done it instead of a fan, though talented fans are amazing and I'm grateful they can do it.

Also, I think I will find it easier to accept some things I probably won't care for since it's a new character and I don't have a history with them.

Of course, I didn't meant to imply otherwise.

However, if Frostbite had some crazy no-clipping support for long hair, then it would be easier for BioWare to put long hair in. My point was long luscious locks aren't present in Battlefield, so it probably wasn't going to give them an edge with that, whereas it did give them an edge with basically everything else. But that doesn't have anything to do with the way the hair looks the way it does, you're right.

Ahh, i see, that makes sense :) Certainly, if there were some extra support for hair animation and/or appearance in the engine it'd make the artists' task easier, and if there is no such thing then the end effect depends solely on how good they are utilizing basic mechanics.

You pretty much have, just put a helmet on that female elf & she'd probably be mistaken as a human woman. Shame that they made elves look exactly like humans again

I don't care what Gender I see, ill be happy to not see another mage play through. So sick of it, and showing the same area over and over again. im going to know that area better before the game is even released. I would like to see Rogue or Warrior.

I hated the look of elves in DA2. Aren't elves supposed to look like humans but with pointy ears? I'd rather not have them look like aliens. Qunari look different enough.

It's hard to tell, but her eyes seem a little larger than they might be on a human.  Like in DA2, but a lot more subtle.

Nothing in the lore says that they're supposed to look anything like humans.

Different preferences i guess, DA2 elves weren't perfect but i liked that they attempted to make them a more unique race with some noticeable things that separated them from humans. That elf Inquisitor looks like all she'd need to do is hide her ears to be able to pass as a human, hope the CC makes it possible to make more unique looking elves.
