Interesting also that she specifically mentions there being transgender characters. I would assume that means there is at least one trans* character the Inquisitor might meet? Perhaps Maevaris made it into the game somehow? Or, better yet, there are new trans* characters being introduced?

That was my thought too! I'm pretty sure Maevaris is out, since David Gaider specifically said she was not created early enough to make it into the game, but he was elusive on whether another trans character might be in the game. It is possible that she's talking about all of Dragon Age as a franchise, and including Maevaris in that, but we can hope.

I cannot get over how awesome Maevaris is.
She deserves to be in DAI or at least in a DLC.

Oh ok, I thought she was created too late to be a companion, and that was what was discussed
but on the other hand then that means we might have new/more trans* characters showing up which would be awesome!
I hope she isn't talking about just the franchise as a whole. I mean, I know some of the voice actors are actual gamers/Bioware fans who play the games and are very interested in the mythos, but its not my understanding that all of them are or would be super informed about the expanded universe comics etc. So I'm hoping she was just referencing characters she interacted with as the Inquisitor...because that would be exciting and awesome

There's been some speculation that Josephine might be trans*. That would be definitely be something.

Is there any evidence for that, or is it just a fan idea?

Just speculation and fan ideas. In actuality, there doesn't seem to be any evidence for her in particular instead of Vivienne or even Solas or Blackwall. I notice that when most people think of trans* individuals, they seem to usually think of transwomen instead of transmen.
I do vaguely recall possibly seeing a developer mention there may be trans* characters in the game (which would make sense given what Alix said).

No, please no transgender characters.

There is a new video with Alix Wilton Regan! I really like how she went for strength with the Inquisitor. I think it's going to suit the protagonist regardless of race.
I hope they do one of these with each of the 4 Inquisitor VAs. I like Alix, but I want to see my other options too.

If by "speculation", you mean someone randomly throwing it out there, sure.

Way to be blatantly transphobic. There's already one (stunning) trans character that we know of, so too late for that.
Way to be blatantly presumptuous. I'll thank you not to attack me like that for having an opinion.
I am not transphobic.

How is requesting there be no trans characters not transphobic?

Same reason I can request no multiplayer. Does that suddenly make me hate multiplayer in every game ever conceived? No. I just don't want multiplayer in THIS game. Being excluded doesn't automatically coincide with being despised and/or feared. That is not sound logic.

Trans people aren't a genre, or a mode, or a feature. They're people, they exist, and they have very, very little positive representation. Why wouldn't you want them in Dragon Age?

lol what. I'm willing to bet my life savings that Josephine is not a man.
Transpeople would fit more in a more modern setting and I'm sure that's all chronoid meant. Blatantly transphobic would be assaulting and or treating a trans person badly for no other reason than being trans.

You seriously think people who don't identify with the gender they were assigned at birth are a modern invention? And no, the word "blatant", means "done openly and unashamedly", so yeah, I would say it was blatant. Either way, he ended up PMing me, so it doesn't matter. If you want to have this discussion, you're free to PM me as well, but let's not get the thread locked.

Yeah, "trans" doesn't always mean the person has undergone sex-reassignment treatments and/or surgery. That would be more modern, I give you that. A trans person can be someone who self-identifies and possibly presents him/herself as a person of a gender other than that they were assigned at birth. They have existed throughout human history.
