I managed to group with some pretty good people, and sought them out, or played on my own and let them decide to stay or leave. I kept mic off though when I did play except couple times.

I always keep mic off if I play, part of why I don't play usually.  I'm just not comfortable enough for a Mic.

Im ok playing MP with friends, playing with randoms has gone bad for me in the past whenever they found out my gender, would either get automatically kicked from the game or have sexist/sexual msg's directed at me :?

If DAMP is anything like ME's MP, then 1) don't turn on the mic and just kick baddie bootie with the rest of your team (which means they'll never find out you're female) and 2) there won't be any text chat settings available for people to send messages back and forth because you're too busy fighting wave after wave and can't take the time to actively type a comment out so that was never implemented.

With that said, don't shy away from it just because of bad experiences.  I've found the community with ME MP to be a lot better than in any other MP arena (including/especially MMORPg'S) and expect the DAMP community to be just as awesome.

I'm kinda-maybe-sorta contemplating trying out the multiplayer.

I've never played any sort on online MP before, so I'm not only a little confused about how it works, but I'm also a little nervous about interacting with strangers online (since I was always taught that was a bad and dangerous thing to do).

If I did decide to play, it could be really useful to have a small group of calm players to get started with.  :)

In my experience of ME3 MP on PC, almost the only time you heard people talking was when they were actually having a phone conversation and didn't realise they were broadcasting to the other players

I liked ME3 MP enough to play it off and on for a month or so, and checked back in with every new update for new characters.  When I go online in random groups, I play with mic off and just focus on my role and contributing to the group.  I also play with everyone else muted as well.  Spares me triggers and troubles.  Otherwise, I just liked being able to dink around with friends in a co-op framework.

I avoid MP as much as possible its just the acid of jerk players that ruin gameplay for me, if I do use it though I won't use a mic. I luckily haven't been called on my gender but then again I never would because my GT screams guy so they would be very hardpressed to figure that out apparently there are many women who do this to just plain skirt around that.

I have a study that polled 874 M/F participates and asked if they'd ever obscured their gender to play online (to avoid harrassment and unwanted attention) 67.5% of the women said yes while only 5.8% of men said yes. When asked how many avoid public serves due to avoid being targets of sexism specifically  50.6 %F and 10.3%M said they did. The study was a very intresting read if its not too off topic and you want to see it I could post its link.

Yeah I usually avoid MP as well though I did play some ME3 MP and that wasn't too bad, I don't even own a mic so I avoid that problem altogether so no voice to give me away though my ea name might since it's the same as on these forums I think. I'm still processing the fact DAI has MP at this point and while I probably will check it out it won't be until I've played the SP through at least once... maybe more. One obsession at a time is more than enough for me. :D

As for the study I would like to see it and considering this thread has extended to female gamers and female representation in gaming plus DAI has MP I think (Personal Opinion Only) it's probably still on topic.

I've never been harassed for my gender or otherwise given special treatment apart from perhaps heightened interest. Although I think most people think I'm a prepubescent boy

Multiplayer games can do both of those, but yea it seems like Dragon Age's is nothing but combat, which I think a lot of people agree is the single weakest thing about the series

A great example of Multiplayer with story in my opinion is Halo 4 Spartan Ops.

If they can't make the combat enjoyable this time round then... I won't know what to think.

Really excited about the MP announcement (something I wouldn't have thought I'd ever be writing before getting addicted to ME3MP). I'll probably be playing with a friend on Xbox One, but it'd be fun to try it out on PC someday with you guys as well, after the price of the game drops enough for me to consider double dipping.

Definitely playing and unlocking the female characters first. It bothered me SO, SO MUCH that many of the most exciting female classes (few as they unfortunately were) never unlocked for me during the 1+ year I was playing. Glad to see that they seem to have learned from fan feedback not to do it quite the same this time, putting the crafting system to good use instead.

SWtOR is the only one I like because it plays like a SP RPG but you can play with other people and I like the system of choosing which person getsto speak or take an action in a group conversation with an npc. It looks to me like DA multiplayer is like ME3 multiplayer in that the only thing you do is run around and kill things. A lot of people like that, but not me. There is no appeal for me there.

Yup in fact I like swtor twenty times more than kotor.

I wouldn't even compare it to that. ME3's multiplayer was fun and almost universally not-hated. It was a 3rd person shooter. You could paint pink Krogans and purple Batarians. You survived waves and it was exciting. There were objectives and an extraction at the end. You were "helping the war effort".

Just my two cents, but...
Aren't they already compromissing by having a female in a lot of the gameplay vids? I remember the first gameplay vids all had female qunari mage, female qunair mage and did I mention the female qunari mage? Apparently the choice - if I remember correctly - was made because it was a fan favourite?

I'm a woman and I personaly don't care how the main characters are represented, cause it's unlikely I'm going to go by the default. ^^°
I ALWAYS play a redhaired male character on my first go through in any game that I have the chance to make my own character. And every time he's given the same name. That is how it has been in Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age and Mass Effect, along with several other games :3
That's my 'canon'. Just as my female canon is always a lady with green eyes and usually short black hair.

... I admit, I did think the default Shepards were pretty sexy thought :3

Waves of enemies is neither exciting nor fun to me so the two days of ME3 multiplayer I played to try and get a better ending were more than enough for me. Combat on its' own isn't something I personally enjoy, there has to be a payoff of a great story an characters. I wish I liked games like Dark Souls where combat is the focus because then I'd have many more games to play :/

Actually the first gameplay demo had a male human warrior playing through the Crestwood area. At the time this thread was made there had been zero female inquisitor representation in the marketing. If the game had been released when it was originally supposed to, there would have been no lady inquisitor represented at all :(

Like you I never play the default, however showing that there is the option of race and gender is vital for many players. A lot of people would not have played DA or ME if someone hasn't told them they could play a woman.

Isn't a Qunari Mage going to be attacked by Iron Bull as Mage's speak demon's fly and have to be leashed, according to the Qunari in DA2.

So technically wouldn't we be an unleashed Saarebas and wouldn't Qunari be obligated by the Qun to kill our Inquisitor or is this an instance where it's like Mage Hawke standing free in Kirkwall's Templar area not being noticed.

Sure ( I hope it doesn't blow up the forms in off topicness) http://blog.pricecha...ames-study.html

More to our own topic I'm a bit worried about the co-op/MP feature the whole can have sex with your buddies is a bit weird, fable did this as well its like dude I like you but not that much! Its great we can all focus on fighting though but I hope its way better handled then fable, Aliens, or Halo have done it I don't like just running around with nothing to do, and I don't like being the invisiable side kick.

It is not typically my thing either. The thing that sold me on it, to at least give it a chance, is the idea that the characters we play are 'mini' companions, who have banter amongst themselves and such. Maybe it is purely linear and loot based, but giving it that extra little bit of Bioware flavor and a hint of comedy definitely makes it a more intriguing offering to me.
