Well , I have no idea who would someone play as a transgender to begin with  ;) But if they want to , so be it . If you can't or won't , maybe they do .

The truth is , games are advancing in the Orientation/ethnie mix at a very slow pace . Hopefully , DAI will open doors . Cose it certainly need it .

I just wish I knew who did, or why.  I'd like to understand, because it would make me very uncomfortable.  Am thinking I may need to branch out more, get to know more people in a similar position as myself, because this is something I really don't understand. :(

As for the other thing.  Yes my problem is how a person goes about doing it, not that they do it.  I still argue the bonobo's aka free love chimps are the happiest animals on this planet.  I just...  I've been stuck around the "boys" so much anything that reminds me of that behavior kinda cause a gut reaction.  Most men aren't like that, but those that are, are really bad.

Can we please not ****-shame people? I understand that "bisexual who likes casual sex" is a stereotype people are tired of, but that does not make it a "joke character" at all. There are plenty of people out there, bisexual or not, who like casual sex and they are not a joke.

I didn't call them a joke character.  I said they are all bisexual characters that like casual sex and joke around a lot.  It's the same character in a different package.  We have one in every game.  As a bisexual, I'm kind of tired of seeing half of all bisexual characters portrayed this way.

So with people apparently content with the marketing, what do people want from a female Inquisitor? Or female protagonists at large?

I still want a better Female Inquisitor Trailer than one with just her voice over it and a faraway shot at the end. I mean it would be very nice to have another that I could go 'hey friend that likes games but prefers to play as a woman take a look at this trailer doesn't that look cool?'

Either more armors and outfits with a more traditionally feminine design or details, or long beautiful hair.  Either would satisfy me, both would be a dream.

Catching up on many pages - I haven't been here for a while.

PuppyLove, a ways back you were talking about traipsing about the countryside in heavy armour - I agree, it probably wouldn't be comfy. However, I have traipsed about/worn chainmail all day and even slept in it very comfortably when I used to play in a LARP. ^-^

Also, I'm pleased that Blackwall is a romance possibility; I thought he could be interesting since he is an older guy. Still not set on romancing any characters in particular, though - it will depend on their personalities when I start playing the game. :)

I can honestly say yes, I am in this instance.  DA has delivered on that front where I definitely thought ME was lacking (but don't get me wrong - I love ME series, my dissatisfaction with it lies more on the story and some characterisations rather than the marketing front.)

How about full plate?  I don't consider chain to be ultra heavy in form and isn't really what I'm talking about.  That being said.  Ultimately I just want armors that aren't gender neutral in appearance.

Two armor sets I put together in Soul Calibur 5 for examples:

armor_3_by_faerieheartwolf-d7xr3f0.pngarmor_5_by_faerieheartwolf-d7xrnao.pngarmor_7_by_faerieheartwolf-d7xrndc.png

Both armors should satisfy the practical appearing qualifiers people keep clamoring for, while still maintaining feminine qualities.

I'm particularly fond of the second armor set.

Oh, I wasn't implying that chain is heavy. I classify it as medium armour. Anyway, it's super comfy.

People actually want a transgender character in game?  I...  I know there are others different than myself, and I'm trying not to judge, but... why?  I understand it in movies and television, where, who we are and what we go through can be explored in a detailed, emotional and realistic fashion, but that's impossible in a game, and it's really not the right place for it...  I mean half the reason to play a game is escapism...  is one of the few places I can be myself and never worry about passing or someone finding out...  why would I want that taken away?  The struggle is bad enough in real life.

When I see the request those requesting it are for games in general they want transgendered characters. I agree with you TV and movies work great for this type of hero/heroine but games its soo much harder because the subtlties aren't being or maybe they even can't be potrayed. I can't recall an American game that ever did this so maybe its just a case of some one needs to show us to let us all see the possibilities here its the same with if women don't see other women in say the role of former tank warrior made queen who then proceedes to wage war on all the other countries because she wants more stuff people can't imagine the role, like when when they change Starbuck to female everyone raged how could she possibly pull off a man's role then she surpassed it and now those critics can't imagine the role as a male it needed to be shown in order for it to be belived. For me I'd like to be the god of my universe and lord of the land the moment I walk into the door except that god and lord is a woman.

Those are pretty, I might fight with them to blow my opponets mind I made it a point with my Fshep to make her wear either hot pink into battle sometimes just so no one could possibly miss me! If I could've I would've also made everyone else dress in hot pink or neon green for the same reason I want them to know I'm coming to kill them and boost the bonus by its a girl that's going to crush you! But normally I like to wear cool dark armor sets (like the Geralt's armor in TW2 was great layers, texture and an edge that said don't mess with me.) for everyday wear the pinks or wild color choices are like my special occasion armors.

I couldn't find Puppy Love's original quote - is it in this thread?

Puppy Love, transgendered people might want to play video games for escapism as well, just like you. And having a transgendered character (particularly one you can play as), even without the subtleties and what have you, can be incredible.

Transgendered people asking (or even daring to ask) for characters that represent them is in many ways identical to what women have been asking for, for example in this thread.

If you are in any way oppressed (by your gender, your skin color, your body shape, etc), surely you can find sympathy with requests from others like transgendered people, even if you are not one of them.  ^_^

Yeah, I still don't really understand.  I just can't think of a game medium that could pull it off.  Though there were native american tribes that recognized a person could have the opposite genders spirit, and fully accepted the person as their spirit gender and allowed them to live and dress as that gender.  I could maybe see something like that represented...  Just...  don't want another Serendipity...  yes there are people like that, but they're the kind who like the attention from being as shocking as possible, and not a good example of most transgendered people.  Most of us are regular people who just want to live as the gender we are inside on the outside as well.  People like Serendipity get enjoyment out of making others uncomfortable and only succeed at giving a bad impression of most of us. :(

Part of being transgendered is that you are the opposite gender your outside body reflects and the desire to live as your true gender as closely as possible.  Not everyone goes for surgery, or can even afford it, but the goal is typically to be your true self.  I don't understand wanting to play as a transgender character when you can skip that nightmare and just play as your real self.  I guess I just kind of worry that the people asking are the shock seekers, and that it'll give the wrong impression of most transgendered people, who are just ordinary men and women, with a daily struggle for acceptance as their real selves.

As a transgender the idea of transgender in game kind of scares me, because I'm not sure how well someone can be actively portrayed as transgender in this medium while not falling into the shock factor.
