Part of being transgendered is that you are the opposite gender your outside body reflects and the desire to live as your true gender as closely as possible.  Not everyone goes for surgery, or can even afford it, but the goal is typically to be your true self.  I don't understand wanting to play as a transgender character when you can skip that nightmare and just play as your real self.

Well I'd venture to say that some people actually identify as "transgender," and that IS their true self.

If a transgender person wants to see a transgender character in a game, who are the rest of us to fight against it or even question it?

So many men have come into this thread and said, basically, "Your (women's) wishes don't matter because I don't understand them and therefore I don't care."  I think women have had so much of that attitude shoved down our throats, that the least we can do is try not to pass that venom onto other groups of people... because we know better! ;)

Those are pretty, I might fight with them to blow my opponets mind I made it a point with my Fshep to make her wear either hot pink into battle sometimes just so no one could possibly miss me! If I could've I would've also made everyone else dress in hot pink or neon green for the same reason I want them to know I'm coming to kill them and boost the bonus by its a girl that's going to crush you! But normally I like to wear cool dark armor sets (like the Geralt's armor in TW2 was great layers, texture and an edge that said don't mess with me.) for everyday wear the pinks or wild color choices are like my special occasion armors.

Yeah I tended towards pink as well, though typically as highlights to the armor and such.  Enough to say, I'm girly and badass as well, bang bang, you're dead.

I am that group, thus why I'm trying to understand, I'm not passing judgement, I'm just confused because I seriously cannot understanding wanting to play as or see someone going through my struggle in a video game...  The one place I can actually escape it.

I see people who like to be as shocking as possible and make a spectacle of themselves, and they're so loud they scare me, because I know the impression they're making on others about people like me who just wants to be a woman without drawing undo attention to my past, and just seek acceptance as such.  My worry is more shock being portrayed than real people no different than anyone else struggling to be accepted as normal.  I suppose if more transgendered people got portrayed as ordinary people that'd be fine.  But I rarely ever see that :(

Oh I understand where you're coming from - yes I can completely sympathize with the whole shock value thing being grossly overused. I suppose one way a transgender person could be represented is to just have a character look and act like a regular man or woman, and then as you learn his/her history you just happen to learn that he/she is transgender as well.

This is the sort of representation that I'd love seeing more of with women in video games - just normal characters, human beings, who happen to be women.

I'm sorry Puppy, I had misunderstood where you were coming from entirely!

Both armors should satisfy the practical appearing qualifiers people keep clamoring for, while still maintaining feminine qualities.

If by feminine you mean lots of pink and stealing the chest plate from a nova cat, then sure I guess. But ignoring style it isn't obviously problematic.

Come now, the second set was purple, and the first set was black with pink highlights, don't over exaggerate.  :P

And I mean girly...  Really the issue is the words used to define these traits are gender based, and one cannot ask for them without the implication that it is what all girl's should like, because girl being in the word implies things not that are anti that...

Makes asking for "girlier" things really annoying.

I was mocking the notion that femininity came down to the colour pink and a massive chest plate, not complaining about constraining hypothetical people to feminine traits.

Yeah... still not a fan.

Not asking you to be a fan.  Isn't for you.  You did what I needed, to recognize that it was not impractical.  After that's it's a matter of tastes, and that's pure opinion.

Yeah that armor is...uh...bright.

I admit I had my warrior in obnoxiously white armor but she was a 2Handed tank (well as much of a tank as she could be while mostly dpsing) so she wanted everyone on the field to see her first.

To a degree the colors are there as a necessity to counter the forced design constraints brought about due to practical needs.  The more I can get closer to feminine in form, the less color is needed to overcome the less feminine qualities of the armor.

Am hoping the dyeing system won't constrain me to dull browns and the like, and that armors have multiple colors, such as bases and highlights.  If I can compensate with color I may be alright.

I approve of the Red Baron school of decoration, well so long as I don't have to worry about snipers.

I wouldn't say it has that effect but whatever. I'm fairly sure pink dyes were confirmed way back.

As long as there's highlight options for coloring, great.  Too much pink is as bad as too much skin.  There's a balance that needs to be reached.  No desire to look like the pink ranger.

BTW what's a nova cat?

Hmmm, on the colour pink... I'm torn. I haaaaate when all female characters are forced into pink because "it's the girl colour". It's fine when one can choose to wear pink, as long as I'm not forced into it because it's the only option.

On the other hand... I get so much vindictive amusement for when I do have the choice, picking the bright and obnoxious pink... I guess I was around as a girl during this idea in gamer culture where female gamers felt like we had to deny any hint of femininity, otherwise we weren't "real gamers". I still remember that deep, cutting anxiety about being seen with a pink handheld console or something, as if it would somehow convey to dudes that I wasn't legit or something?? During a time when anything "girly" was anathema and to be avoided for fear of seeming one of thoseeee fake casual gamer girls... Back then I was so scared of that...

And now I'm just like, "can I have the 3DS in pink? can I have pink armour? can i make this weapon pink? can i get a pink game case?" Haha... It feels like fighting back. Maybe I'm the only one who does that, because, I want to be clear, I've never had a negative reaction from anyone IRL, guy or girl, friend or stranger, about appearing feminine or choosing the "girly" options, and that's enormously freeing. But it does feel like I'm denying the culture of gatekeeping, that internal editor that's telling me I can't be overtly feminine otherwise I don't really count as a real gamer... It's hard to get rid of that feeling, but it's something I can do.

And I definitely get some pleasure out of thinking that somewhere out there, there is a dudebro who will cry "fake" at me ... and I just smile. heh

jeez that got long and personal, whoops! but my input on the colour pink

I love pink!!! :D

But that said, only one of my examples had any pink in it :P

I'd wear pink more in real life, but pink + pale skinned, freckled, red head do not match :(

I am not a fan of pink on clothes offline, but in-game I greatly enjoy dressing up my squad in the most outrageously bright and obnoxious colors available.  Sometimes neon pink falls into that category.  One of my favorites is in ME1, with the pink and white Phoenix Power Ranger armor.  Having Kaidan, Garrus, FemShep running around the galaxy in it made me mighty happy.

lol I had everyone but Shep in that phoenix armor.

I admit I just imagine the look Wrex gave Shepard when he put that armor on. LOL.

I was mocking the notion that femininity came down to the colour pink and a massive chest plate, not complaining about constraining hypothetical people to feminine traits.

If that's how you took it.  The second armor once again did not have ANY pink in it.  Technically it had purple the color of royalty, and it's you and your ilk that are insisting we throw plate over the chest and make sure it's covered and protected not me.  So I gave you your damn plate, so it's unfair for you to criticize that I put plate on there.  That's me compromising for your standards.  I chose the coloring because they are colors I like, and are both traditionally feminine colors.  Though the designs as well had some feminine qualities.  I admit to not liking the first set as the second.  Though your complaint with the second seems to be the plate I chose for it.  To which I say :P  I liked the design and the detail on it, and the way the colors worked with it.  The most feminizing thing in the second armor was the addition of the skirt, not the color or the chest plate.

Besides are you honestly going to tell me pink is not considered a traditionally feminine and girly color?  Seriously?

One of the arguments your side says for armor doesn't have to be dull or boring, is showing armors with various colored heraldry and designs.  So when asking for more girly/feminine options, adding traditionally girly colors is once again attempting to compromise with the standards set forth by the practical and heavy armor defenders.

I at least am attempting to compromise and find something that is acceptable to me and fits your standards.  If you have some actually useful and decent advice into finding common ground instead of belittling my attempts to work with you all to find something we would both be ok with, it would be a lot more useful.

No jewelery , and face tattoo ? I wish it could be anywhere we want . And if it has to be in your face......not a whole face smear....
