I still want a better Female Inquisitor Trailer than one with just her voice over it and a faraway shot at the end. I mean it would be very nice to have another that I could go 'hey friend that likes games but prefers to play as a woman take a look at this trailer doesn't that look cool?'

What kind of trailer would you guys want to see, if another one was made?  I personally think the most recent one ("where is your Maker now?") was the most powerful one they've done for DAI, and I'd love to see something equally epic starring a female Inquisitor.

One with the male inquisitor fighting the female inquisitor in an epic show down type duel, ending in a cliche running forward final rush, and ending with "Which will be your Inquisitor!"

Figure can't be much more clear than that...

Or better yet have 8 Inquisitors, one of each race and sex, all in an epic showdown ending with a similar final rush, same "Which will be your Inquisitor!"

lol Make it straight up clear the choices we have :P

That sounds ridiculous and I like it.

I'm pretty sure every trailer (not demo) has kept the helmet on the Inquisitor, so I wouldn't want them to change that just because she's female.  If they just showed her face close up and for more than half a second, as well as used her voice, I think it would be pretty clear.

Alternately we could show a male and female inquisitors of each race in their background homes doing something cool and actiony, switching between each one, no helmet, then at the end have them each in turn flashed through putting on the helm and walking away from home.  "Who will lead your Inquisition?"

We could call the trailer "Choices"

Would have been much better for Origins though where it was more in depth there.

Or alternately keep the helmet on, and have them each walk up to where the main incident which makes us the inquisitor will happen, flash through each of them starting to take their helmet off but not show the face, and then say either of the lines.

I'd really like to see "What will your Inquisitor look like"  and then show an inquisitor morphing into different options, different races, genders, classes and things like hair, beards, some outfits.  Show me what we can do,

I'm still not sure what I'm going to name my inquisitors.

These are the names of my wardens/hawkes to see if it springs some imagination in me. lol

Veylya (Vey) Brosca- Vivian Hawke- ?  FCadash

Aedan Cousland- Brett Hawke- ? MTrevelyan

Violet Amell- Hyacinth Hawke- ? FAdaar

Gail Mahariel- Lynn Hawke- ? FLavellan

Estina Tabris- Margo Hawke- ?  FTrevelyan

Delamara (Mara) Aeducan  (current game) -? FHawke- ?  FTrevelyan (I think) could be another Cadash

and still planning a MSurana -MHawke as well.

nope, no names jump out at me yet.

Yes I would love to see one like that for the female PC. I showed a friend of mine who is still iffy about DA that trailer and they did ask who's voice was that and didn't pick up right away that the person in head to toe armor was the speaker or really a gal. I know the demos have lady PCs but I know I wouldn't sit down to watch a demo of a game I'm ehh about and I wouldn't ask someone who feels that way to sit through one either.

If that's how you took it.  The second armor once again did not have ANY pink in it.  Technically it had purple the color of royalty, and it's you and your ilk that are insisting we throw plate over the chest and make sure it's covered and protected not me.  So I gave you your damn plate, so it's unfair for you to criticize that I put plate on there.  That's me compromising for your standards.  I chose the coloring because they are colors I like, and are both traditionally feminine colors.  Though the designs as well had some feminine qualities.  I admit to not liking the first set as the second.  Though your complaint with the second seems to be the plate I chose for it.  To which I say :P  I liked the design and the detail on it, and the way the colors worked with it.  The most feminizing thing in the second armor was the addition of the skirt, not the color or the chest plate.

Besides are you honestly going to tell me pink is not considered a traditionally feminine and girly color?  Seriously?

One of the arguments your side says for armor doesn't have to be dull or boring, is showing armors with various colored heraldry and designs.  So when asking for more girly/feminine options, adding traditionally girly colors is once again attempting to compromise with the standards set forth by the practical and heavy armor defenders.

I at least am attempting to compromise and find something that is acceptable to me and fits your standards.  If you have some actually useful and decent advice into finding common ground instead of belittling my attempts to work with you all to find something we would both be ok with, it would be a lot more useful.

Actually, no, pink isn't traditionally feminine and girly, not if you look back in history.  In fact pink came about as a girls' color in the recent past (early 1900s I think, possibly 1800s) when there was a debate on which color should be for which gender of child.  Originally the girls' color was going to be blue because it was seen as a delicate color, while pink is a light red, representative of blood and thus strength.  But, because it's also representative of the sky (and other reasons) blue ended up chosen for boys instead.  So basically "Pink = Girly" is a recent invention (and I'd love to see it overturned so everyone could have every color they want without being judged).

I am personally a fan of earth tones--greens, browns, and greys, (also really like turquoise/aqua and blues), especially in terms of armor.  Part of that's the practical side of me remembering how more than one war went when one group was brightly clad and the other wasn't.  The other part is that the pink/purple you used are much brighter than any kind of accent color I'd pick, so again, personal preferences...  Your shown armor, due to the breastplate's shape (the dreaded uniboob, sister to the boob cup plate), would also be incredibly hard to get on and off (remember, you'd have to slide it over your breasts and then fit it JUST SO and then you've got a big piece of metal chafing you there like the world's worst underwire bra... so nooooo...), and it looks a bit more like parade armor or jousting armor than true combat armor--but that's just my take.  Also, the flowing fabric added to make a skirt would also make a good handhold or could tangle and trip up the wearer.  (Mind you I am fond of capes and cloaks and sashes and scarves and flowing garments in general, which have the same problem, so that's not a big issue for me, but I am simply pointing out it's not exactly practical.)

Long story short, I don't like it (because to me, combat isn't really the place for high fashion), but I don't have to play with armor like that if I don't want to--you like it and that's all that matters as long as it's your character in your game.

Though, having said that, I'm fine with the option being there for those who want it, but I never, ever want to have my character forced, within a Bioware game, to wear a uniboob plate or a boob cup plate, ever again.  The ONLY exception is if the game happens to be some campy fantasy semi-serious parody where men go around dressed in similarly ridiculous attire and everyone makes fun of it all.

Having said that, I vote that we wait until we've seen a bit of the game and what's available in terms of armor (and possibly casual clothing, if it's available to us to wear) to continue discussing armor designs.  Only after we've seen it will we be able to give any fair feedback about it.  Hopefully there will be options that please everyone (or maybe displease everyone, since that's what a good compromise usually does).

A good article on the history of the gendering of pink and blue, for anyone who is interested. It's always interesting to examine and re-examine these things from time to time.

@AlexiaRevan

yes, F+M meant male and female. :)   Estina's story is already done. :D She was a city elf that romanced Liliana. Margo Hawke was attached to that save. she romanced Isabela.

I was trying to figure out names where I put question marks.  I'm guessing my female Cadash needs to start with a V since Vey and Vivian did.  The male Trevelyan could start with a C sense there is Aedan and Brett.  Violet and hyacinth are shades of purple.

Uh, okay, where to begin.

I suspect the armour you linked has all kinds of technical problems with it, but it is trying to convey the sense of being protective, so sure I'll pay that. If one were to take it as inspiration for their own designs such things could be smoothed out. However my position has always been that you should be able to find ways of tailoring more practical designs to your desires, so I don't see a conflict that needs compromise.

I didn't like the stylistic choices of the design, and felt I could joke about it safely, I guess I was wrong.

Men have been wearing pink shirts since, what the 70s?

I really don't like those armors at all sorry. Overall, I like the style of clothes and armor we have seen for the Inquisition, and I hope Bioware sticks with it.

Now, in terms of compromise, what I would like to see, is the introduction of color 'dyes' for crafting. Similar to how you could spray paint Commander Shepards armor any color you wanted. This way, if you want your character to run around in bright pink, then you can. And I can stick to blacks/greys/blues, and Brass_Buckles can have earth tones. And everyone else can accent everything how they want too.

A dye system a la Guild Wars 2 is actually better . In Mass effect , all we did is have a few design 2-3 and it just a patch that you can color . In Guild Wars 2 you have much more diverse colors , and they introduced a skin system . So yeah a dye system is needed . Although from what I saw....it make me wonder if we ever have that option .

Hmm I wonder if we can change that in anyway I kind of hope so cause I'm personally not fond of the look of it. Though to be fair it is a blurry back shot.

Given how they're building Skyhold up as this fully fledged customisable thing we spend a lot of time in, I'd be surprised if we couldn't change Inquisitor's Skyhold clothes.
